Anti-drug efforts beefed up along U.S.-Canada border

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
Great Idea, just make sure any Canadian and US Drug Smugglers going to and fro from British Columbia are busted on the US side, cause sure as hell if they are left for the British Columbia courts to deal with, Heaven Help us, cause the Nancy Left British Columbia Revolving Door Court system will release em on bail faster than you can arrest them, with court dates made well into the new year.
British Columbia Judges have to be the most incompetent when dealing with Criminals, releasing them with a promise to appear order.  And we wonder why Police officers and Custom Agents are so stressed out over this, that they catch and beat repeat criminals when caught over and over and over again and they never spend any time in jail or get double credit for time served waiting at home for a court date.  Yep welcome the BC the bestest place to live on Earth, especially for the Criminals.

PLATTSBURGH, New York -- Anti-drug efforts beefed up along U.S.-Canada border Updated Sat. Jul. 25 2009 10:51 PM ET The Associated Press The world's longest undefended border.

It's a catchy yet increasingly imprecise term for the U.S.-Canada frontier, as authorities on both sides ratchet up efforts to curb bustling traffic in illegal drugs and guns.

The U.S. Border Patrol has tripled the number of agents along the 8,851 kilometre border in recent years, with hundreds more soon to be deployed. Unmanned U.S. surveillance aircraft are being tested for use over the frontier, and video surveillance towers are going up around Buffalo and Detroit.

Multi-agency, binational law enforcement teams operate in 15 regions from coast to coast.

Immigrants take brunt of recession, recover less quickly

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Here is a shocker for ya, especially in Multicultural and Diversity Vangroovy and all their Chicken Chested thumping about being so Progressive to Immigrants.

For one, if you do not speak English, it is the immigrants fault for coming to Canada in the first place.

Two, Assimilation, Assimilation, Assimilation! Though Vangroovys twisted view on Assimilation is more verbose, such as buzzwords like Corporate Fit, meaning you the immigrants are just not hip, laid back and groovy enough!  If the woman is an HR professional and she sees a Turban, automatically she thinks Old World Values, where is a women is classed as a second class citizen, hence the Female Human Resources Manager, may think twice bringing a Male with ill precieved perceptions of someone who views woman as inferior, regardless if you are a moderate sikh, especially a 50 year old Sikh who may have these Male Female roles down pat from his upbringing.

Number 3, Vangroovians want Immigrants to have some sort of Volunteer Time to put on thier resume.

Volunteer Time? Give your friggin head a shake, who has time to give FREE VOLUNTEER TIME when you are too busy trying to find work to feed your family?

And last but not least Number 4.  Age Discrimination, regardless if you are a Phd Immigrant or a Lily White Canadian, Vancouver is rife with AGE Discrimination,  Vangroovians desire the under 30 crowd, with 40 years experience. Insane? yes!  I have seen it many times, the man in this story is 50 years old and an immigrant, if he were 30 years old with the skills and spoke english, they would snap him up instantly.  Even East Indians won't hire him, cause in their view he is OLD!!!

There you have it in a Nutshell , Welcome to Canada Skilled Immigrants, Canada may welcome you, but employers won't if you are approaching 40 years old.  Sucks I know, but that is North America, who toss away experience for Grooviness potential.  Style over Substance, Vangroovy Style!

Immigrants take brunt of recession, recover less quickly
Past recessions show immigrants have greater difficulty re-entering the labour force even after the economy rebounds

Tavia Grant and Jennifer Yang Globe and Mail
Update Last updated on Saturday, Jul. 25, 2009 01:47PM EDT

Bhagwan Lobana knows too well how harsh the labour market is.

Last April, after nearly two years in Canada, the 50-year-old Punjabi finally found a job that he was proud of. Mr. Lobana, an experienced chemist who graduated top of his masters' class in 1982, was hired at Acuren, a materials-testing and engineering company. But in November, he was laid off when business slowed because of the recession.

“I was very upset,” Mr. Lobana said. “I could not continue because of the recession. So my dreams are pending.”

Mr. Lobana has since applied for more than 30 jobs with no success, and recently found temp work operating a forklift.

Are women better then men at multitasking but not as good at reading a map? There's no doubt that men and women have differences in behaviour. Here we'll look at some of those differences and discuss the theories surrounding them. A good place to start is with the brain.

The human brain contains some 10,000 - 15,000 million nerve cells, called neurons, and one million billion synapses (the connections between nerve cells). But the way in which the brain functions is still, to an extent, a medical mystery, so we can't say with certainty how much the physical differences between people's brains affect or contribute to their behaviour.

Obama, Gates and Sgt Crowley To Be New Best Beer Drinkin Buddies?

Barry Artiste Op.Ed
You have to hand it to President Obama, if this Pub Crawl and Beer Fest works between Gates, his arresting Officer Sgt Crowley turn out to be a New Best Pal Trio, then what a coup!

Wouldn't it be great if wars, political difference between leaders and such could be handled over a couple of Beers and back slapping, telling jokes and an action movie.

Obama to be sure will be the darling of Beer companies everywhere, rest assured the media will want to photograph this historic event, with Beer Company PR firms foaming at the mouth eager to find out which Beer they choose to Quaff at this Ordinary Joe Summit!

Too bad the Iranian President is a Tee Totaller, betcha Obama could smooth things out with him and Israel.

Obama at least has the right idea., Good Times and World Peace over Suds.

BOSTON -- African American scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. of Harvard says he's ready to move on from his arrest by a white police officer, hoping to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal justice system.

After a phone call from President Barack Obama urging calm in the aftermath of his arrest last week, Gates said he would accept Obama's invitation to the White House for a beer with him and Cambridge police Sgt. James Crowley.

In a statement posted Friday on The Root, a website Gates oversees, the scholar said he told Obama he'd be happy to meet with Crowley, whom Gates had accused of racial profiling.

"I am pleased that he, too, is eager to use my experience as a teaching moment, and if meeting Sgt. Crowley for a beer with the president will further that end, then I would be happy to oblige," Gates said.

Camera phone images help doctors diagnose womans nipples pain.

Worth 1,000 words: Camera phone images help doctors diagnose nipple pain cause
 23/07/2009 7:22:00 PM
Sheryl Ubelacker, Health Reporter, THE CANADIAN PRESS TORONTO -

This is one case where having a camera phone came in really handy. Doctors in Norway say they were able to diagnose a woman experiencing excruciating bouts of nipple pain after she brought in photos of her breasts snapped using the camera in her cellphone. The 25-year-old woman began experiencing frequent episodes of pain during pregnancy whenever her extremities - including her nipples - got cold. The pain was so intense that it would bring her to tears, says a report of the case in this week's British Medical Journal. Not only that, but the colour of her nipples also altered: first white combined with a tingling pain described as tightening like a vice, then blue with a burning pain ("pouring acid") and finally a red phase combined with numbness as the pain diminished.

How to cure the honour killings ‘cancer’

How to cure the honour killings ‘cancer’

Tarek Fatah, National Post
Published: Friday, July 24, 2009

Almost as soon as news broke that the murders of three Afghan-Canadian teenage sisters and their father's first wife in Kingston, Ont., were possible "honour killings," some in the Muslim community reacted in the most predictable fashion: defensiveness and denial.

Instead of voicing outrage at the murders, two Muslim callers to my CFRB radio show in Toronto slammed me for raising the subject, and suggested I had some hidden agenda. "This has nothing to do with Islam," said one caller, despite the fact no one on the show had, to that point, even mentioned the word "Islam," let alone accused the religion of sanctioning honour killings.

The callers were not alone. The head of the Canadian branch of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) told the CBC more or less the same thing - that the story was unrelated to Islam, which apparently does not permit honour killings.

$3.5 million in cocaine nabbed at B.C. border

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Now many will ask why the courts released the Drug smuggler and his accomplices with a promise they appear before a judge for his trial? Here is a thought, perhaps Police would rather have this Drug Smuggler Bosses eliminate him and his accomplices before the trial date, thus saving Taxpayers the expense of a long drawn out trial, by lawyers looking for a plea bargain.  One can be sure in the coming weeks another News Story will be "Murder Spree hits Surrey, 3 Drug Dealers, found stuffed in a trunk, gunshots to the head"

"BC Justice Has Been Served........... in Spades"

<!-- -->

A Surrey man is facing drug-smuggling charges after the largest land border bust in western Canada.

On July 19, Canadian Border Services Agency officers at the Huntingdon border found 144 bricks of cocaine hidden inside a commercial truck.

The cocaine, worth about $3.5 million, was likely heading for Metro Vancouver streets.

Officers detected anomalies while searching the commercial trailer’s refrigeration unit. Stashed inside the unit were numerous cellophane-wrapped packages of coke, weighing a total of 144 kilograms.

The 26-year-old driver was immediately arrested and turned over to the RCMP. He has since been released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 24.

Boys allegedly raped girl, 8

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
A tragic story in the USA, with even a more horrific ending, when police returning a 8 year old girl to her family, is told by the father that he does not want his 8 year daughter back after she was repeatedly raped. The fathers logic is it was all the Daughters fault.   The fathers exact words were  ‘Take her, I don’t want her,”’.  Again I ask Now Public Readers, MULTICULTURALISM DOESN'T WORK!  THough iot may work in civilised societies, it certainly aint ever going to work in Backwoods Countries where the practice of Male Domain over women and children is paramount to their society.

Again, I say, our Immigration Departments are failing miserably when it comes to fully explaining to Refugees that we do not condone Cultural Customs from other countries where the Female species, just because they have the XX Chromosones have every right as a male does.  It is unfathomable that a Man from Liberia, whose customs dictate what is right and wrong, life and death is the sole propriety of the male species.  How can anyone look his raped 8 year old daughter in the eye and say I do not want you, it was all your fault you were raped. Get out of our house and lives.  If I were the Police officer hearing this, I would be tasering this F^c*er all day long, and take his daughter to raise as my own.  Meanwhile as the father evacuates his bowels from repeated Tasering, in a perfect world one would hope an Immigration official would be buying a economy class air fare for this asshole to deport him back to the Dark Continent where his kind should rot in hell.

'Crime of honour' arrests

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Again the question of Assimilation will be raised.  Another example of many when new immigrants to this country bring the old ways into Canadian Society, as well as Canadian officials who again it seems do not ask the right questions of new immigrants, such as Canadians have the Rights and Freedoms in that all are equal.  Certainly something that has fallen on deaf ears of this trio from Afghanistan.
This trio of accused murderers certainly show their cultural customs of practicing the Old Ways trump Canadas' laws when it comes to preserving the Canadian way of life, when we espouse Multiculturalism.  Racist attitudes, marriage of convienience, murder and deciet seem to be a way of life and the staus quo for this trio. One can sure when even before the trial begins, the same racist attitudes and deciet practiced by this trio, will be used as a ploy by they and their lawyers who will whine,"These three people are innocent", you Canadians are only picking of them because they are from Afhganistan!   My response is Yes, we are picking on them, Why? Because when it comes to Honour, there is no Honour in Snuffing out the Lives of your own Flesh and Blood because you feel inconvienced by their attitudes of trying to live and thrive in Canada versus the brutality of living in the past in your native Afghanistan.

One may remember a couple of years ago, a small Quebec town with a small town councillor Andre Drouin hit the world media stage and was mocked by both Self Serving Politicians  and an unclued public, when all they requested was before New Canadians hit our shores, they should read about our laws and customs, abide by Canadian Laws and Customs and get our Government to apprise these Newcomers what Canada is all about, join us as Canadians, but do not try to change us or insist we accomodate your customs at every Taxpayer expense.  If our laws and customs offend the newcomers, then perhaps they should consider another country to immigrate to.  Other Countries in Europe do this, why not us?

Needless to say  this small Quebec town Herouxville suffered the slings and arrows of ridicule by many in the media, self serving politicians who rely on the Immigrant vote for political gain, and citizens who still feel blinded by the mantra of Multiculturalism and Diversity is great.

Some in the media started reporting Honour Killings and other criminal customary activities, unacceptable in Canada, but allowed openly in their Country.   Little by little people who once ridiculed a small town and its councillor, started to open their eyes a little, though they still want multiculturalism, they became aware, not all is as "Groovy" as Self Serving Politicians led Canadians to Believe, especially when Racism is openly practised by Immigrants of these Old Customs, contrary to our Canadian Customs.  So you ask yourself, which Custom should trump, Canadian Customs or Theirs?

Crime of Honour Arrests

Cops say Family conspired in girls' deaths
By Rob Tripp, SunMedia
July 24, 2009

KINGSTON -- A Montreal businessman charged with killing four members of his family conspired with his second wife and his oldest son to commit mass murder in a bid to restore his honour, relatives of one of the victims have told Sun Media.

The family members allege Mohammed Shafi had beaten his 19-year-old daughter Zainab and threatened recently to kill her and the woman he had passed off as his cousin.

She was his first wife, though he had concealed that fact since the family of three adults, all natives of Afghanistan, and seven children moved to Canada two years ago and settled in Montreal.

"We are convinced that this is a crime of honour, organized under the guidance of Mr. Shafi, his wife Tooba and their oldest son Hamed," Diba Masoomi wrote in an e-mail sent to Kingston Police more than two weeks ago.

Mohammed Shafi, 56, his wife Tooba, 39, and their son Hamed, 18, are each charged with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

Going on offense against the ACORN conspiracy

<!-- -->

“The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has repeatedly and deliberately engaged in systemic fraud,” according to the report’s executive summary. “Both structurally and operationally, ACORN hides behind a paper wall of nonprofit corporate protections to conceal a criminal conspiracy on the part of its directors, to launder federal money in order to pursue a partisan political agenda and to manipulate the American electorate. Emerging accounts of widespread deceit and corruption raise the need for a criminal investigation of ACORN.”

The report includes significant new information about wrongdoing brought to the attention of committee investigators by ACORN whistleblowers.

Highlighted in the report:

* ACORN has evaded taxes, obstructed justice, engaged in self dealing, and aided and abetted a cover-up of the $948.607.50 embezzlement by Dale Rathke, the brother of ACORN founder Wade Rathke.
* ACORN has committed investment fraud, deprived the public of its right to honest services, and engaged in a racketeering enterprise affecting interstate commerce.
* ACORN has committed a conspiracy to defraud the United States by using taxpayer funds for partisan political activities.
* ACORN has submitted false filings to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Labor, in addition to violating the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
* ACORN falsified and concealed facts concerning an illegal transaction between related parties in violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).

“It is outrageous that ACORN will be rewarded for its criminal acts by taxpayer money in the stimulus and is being asked to help with the U.S. census,” said Rep. Issa. “This report shines a light on clear criminal conduct and it is abundantly clear that they cannot and should not be trusted with taxpayer dollars.”

Time to act on health-care reform: Obama

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Socialized Medicine in the Good Ole USA.  A subject bandied about for half a century by politicians of all parties, and all to no avail.  All promise to do something to appease the masses, all masses promise to vote for the politician who promises.

Here is a little Obama story.

A terminally ill man reaches the Pearly Gates, and is asked to  wait a minute while they check the "Lie Clock" .  The terminally ill man asks, what is a "Lie Clock"? Saint Peter explains, everyone has a  "Lie Clock", when someone tells a Lie, the clock's hand moves one second ahead!

Saint Peter states. "You have lied enough in your life for your clock to turn full circle.

Intrigued, the Terminally ill man asks, what does Mother Teresa's Lie Clock look like?  St. Peter explains, Mother Teresea never told a lie, so her Lie Clock is at 12 o'clock.

The man states, "what about Mandela"?  St. Peter states Mandelas Lie Clock has turned 15 minutes in Mandelas life.

Impressed, the Terminally Ill Man says, Where is Obama's Lie Clock?

Saint Peter replies, "Jesus is using Obama's Lie Clock as a Ceiling Fan!"

So there ya go USA Now Public Readers, if you think you will see Obama implemented Canadian Style socialised Health Care in your lifetime, then George W. Bush is Mother Teresea!

Obama: TIme to Act on Health Reform.
Seeking Support; Spiralling costs battering families.
Jackie Frank, Reuters
Published; Tuesday, July 21, 2009

U. S. President Barack Obama yesterday said spiralling health-care costs are battering American families as he sought to bolster wavering public support for plans to revamp the US$2-trillion health-care industry.

Mr. Obama said now was the time for Congress to act, even as the chairman of the Republican National Committee condemned the White House plan, which would establish a new government-run health insurance option, as "a reckless experiment" and "socialism."

A Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted last week and published yesterday found approval of Mr. Obama's handling of the issue fell to 49% from 57% in April, and disapproval rose to 44% from 29%.

2012 Match-ups: Obama, Romney Tied at 45%; Obama 48%

<!-- -->

If the 2012 presidential election were held today, President Obama and possible Republican nominee Mitt Romney would be all tied up at 45% each, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

The president, seeking a second four-year term, beats another potential GOP rival, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, by six points – 48% to 42%.

In both match-ups, seven percent (7%) like some other candidate, with three percent (3%) undecided.

Palin is second only to Romney as the presidential candidate Republican voters say right now that they’ll vote for in 2012 state GOP primaries. But she’s also one of two candidates they least hope wins the party’s nomination.

This is what the Canadian Refugee is for!

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
Below is a story about a Bhutanese Refugees who recently arrived in Canada, this is what our Refugee system is all about and the people in which it serves.  Not some False refugee claimant who states I'm Gay, I do not want to serve my Country (USA) in armed conflicts, My country has charged me as a criminal (China, turns out once he got to Canada , he was a crimial) or  They want to kill me for my religious beliefs, they will cut off my nibbly bits if I return to Nigeria and other farcical fantasies made up by those looking for a free ride.  Live in this Butanese refugees shoes, that is a bona fide Refugee.

When the days in the refugee camp seemed to last forever, Bhim Lal Kattel prayed to the gods to let his family return home to Bhutan.

Nearly two decades passed. His children grew and his mother aged. Mr. Kattel gave up his dream of reclaiming his family's farm in southern Bhutan. The grinding boredom at the Goldhap refugee camp in the nearby Himalayan country of Nepal sapped his spirit.

So, at age 37, with an anxious heart, he decided to take his family to a strange, cold land on the other side of the globe.

Mr. Kattel arrived at Vancouver International Airport on Thursday afternoon, his eyes shining with excitement and fatigue. Despite the warm July weather, his wife, Bishnu Maya, and three children, Prakash, 14, Menuka, 12, and Ganesh, 8, were clad in thick sweaters. His 73-year-old mother was pushed through the international gates in a wheelchair.

Canada's Too Open Door Policy on Immigration Scams

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Many may disagree with this story, but you cannot dispute the fact Canada is played for a sucker by those (Illegal Immigrants and Immigration Lawyers and Consultants) who know how to play the game and tug at the heartstrings and Wallets of Canadians when trying to scam their way into Canada, by hook and by crook.  Perhaps it is time to replace these Immigration and Refugee Board officers with lie detector tests for all Immigrants who claim refugee status once they hit our shores. Funny though they do not claim refugee status when they visit our embassy in their home country.  It is also funny they can afford a plane ticket to boot. Canada should look for Countries where Refugees are in true dire straits and should be taken in if they are in countries who human rights abuses so horrific, they deserve a better life, failure to do so, allows the moderately well off immigrants (in democratic countries ) who scam the visa and immigration system meant for the true Refugees.

The Canadian government was right to impose visa requirements this week on visitors from Mexico and the Czech Republic. The massive abuse of our refugee determination system that has been taking place in recent years left Ottawa with no choice. In the long term, however, the best solution is to fix the refugee determination system itself--even though any such changes will be fiercely opposed by the Canadian refugee lobby, which has for years been able to call most of the shots on how we handle asylum claimants.

Mexican lesbians claim refugee status

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
A new twist to an old Visa scam, Hey, Lets say we are gay! Surely Canadian Refugee Board will swallow that one! Since Canada recognizes Mexico as a democratic Country, though a real bad democracy, it makes one wonder if these two ladies, no doubt coached by their immigration lawyer have found a loophole in getting into Canada. Anyone who has visited Mexico,  knows Homosexuality is not a major concern in this Catholic dominated country, it pretty much elicts stares, and that is it.  Many homosexuals from Canada visits some of Mexicos pristine waters and exclusive resorts with no problems.  To me this smells of a scam, and to be sure Canada Immigration have seen them all to be sure.

Two lesbian lovers who slipped into Canada before visas were imposed on Mexico have claimed refugee status in Toronto alleging they'll be raped or killed if sent back home.

Norma Angelica Gomez, 33, and Alina Gallegos Lee, 34, say their dream is to get married in Toronto and be happy.

Sooke man pleads guilty to sex act with horse

Barry Artiste

Knowing the British Columbia's Lientient and useless Court System, whereby courts weaning the drug addicted with free needles and less powerful drugs, this Judge hands down a one year probation sentence and states rehabilitation is the answer for this sicko. Rehabilitation you say??  I can only surmise rehabilitation means Weaning off this Sicko from his habit of banging Horsies up the bum. Perhaps the Judge will wean him off  Hories by allowing him to have sex with sheep, and slowing rehabilitate him to Guinea pigs wrapped in duct tape, duct tape so they (Guinea Pigs) don't explode in his hands. Only in BC, the Bestest Place to Live on Earth, especially for Back Door Horsie Bandits.

A Sooke man has pleaded guilty to bestiality for an offence linked to a horse.

Bruce Earl Gilbert appeared in Western Communities Courthouse this week and received a year of probation.

“The allegation itself related to an incident allegedly involving a horse,” said Crown spokesman Neil MacKenzie.

“I think the court probably focussed on the issue of rehabilitation as being the most important part of the sentencing.”

Circumcision helps protect men, not women from AIDS

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

I have a better idea, how about keeping your pecker in your pants if you neglect to get yourself tested first before entering a relationship.  Pretty much a no brainer for those unclear on the concept of Aids.

WASHINGTON - Circumcision may help protect men from the AIDS virus but it does not protect the wives and female partners of infected men, researchers reported on Thursday.

The disappointed researchers had to stop the trial, which they had hoped would confirm early suggestions that circumcision would protect men and women alike.

But, they said, circumcision is so effective in protecting men that will still likely benefit women indirectly by reducing circulation of the virus in general.

Republicans: Clean your own house

Photos

No footage found.

Conservative Commentator Michelle Malkin has a simple Message Republicans: Clean your own house.  Sounds a bit like Jesus on the Sermon on the Mount, "Why are your trying to remove the sliver from your brothers eye when you have a log in your own".  First remove that log and focus on yourselves.  Conservatives continue to miss their calling.  Clean up.. but first let it start with me.

The rotten American Conservative Union/David Keene pay-for-play scandal underscores a point I’ve made over and over and over again:

The GOP can’t attack the Democrat culture of corruption (my new book comes out July 27) until it cleans its own house first.

The John Ensign mess keeps getting worse.

Stubborn, selfish, prevaricating Mark Sanford keeps embarrassing himself and conservatism.

And there’s another sex scandal on C Street.

Grass-roots conservatives are livid and lashing out.

We’ve got major battles on the Hill and fundamental principles to defend.

Show the corrupted, Beltway-infected, power-drunk Republicans the door.

And get back to work.

Court tapes show blunt combative Sotomayor

Sen. Lindsey Graham read off some of the terms lawyers used to describe Judge Sonia Sotomayor: “A terror,” “angry,” “aggressive,” and “a bully.”

“You stand out like a sore thumb in terms of your temperament,” Graham told Sotomayor at her Supreme Court confirmation hearings this week.

“I do ask tough questions at oral arguments,” Sotomayor replied. “And some lawyers do find that our court, which is not just me, but our court generally, is described as a ‘hot bench.’ ”

But what is a “hot bench” anyway? And how hot was it? The task of disentangling tough from obnoxious, probing from abusive is a very subjective one – even, evidently, for the seasoned litigators (no fainting violets they) who make the bulk of the appearances in the Second Circuit’s shiny, secure new courthouse in lower Manhattan.

The Second Circuit recently provided audio recordings of oral arguments — some of which have never been published — from four of Sotomayor’s better-known cases, and snippets of a fifth, in response to a request from POLITICO, and the exchanges themselves – far better than any written impressions – offer a glimpse of her style as an appellate judge, and the Supreme Court Justice she’s likely to be.

The tapes reveal a blunt judge who talks as much or more than her (often equally combative) colleagues; who makes no bones about interrupting or even, in one case, laughing at lawyers; and who goes to no great length to disguise her quarrel with an argument or her point of view.

Your Tax Dollars - Social Security spends $700,000 on conference

PHOENIX -- A Social Security Administration motivational management conference held at a high-end Valley resort last week cost $700,000, the SSA told the ABC15 Investigators.

Costs for the conference at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa included airfare, hotel entertainment, dancers, motivational speakers, and food, an administration official said.

A spokesperson outside the SSA's Phoenix office declined to comment.

A spokesperson from the SSA's regional office said the conference was essential, that teleconferencing was not an option, and that all 675 managers needed to meet in person.

The SSA provided ABC15 with a list of courses provided at the conference, which included "Techniques to Empower You," "Mentoring the Generations," and "Emotional Intelligence."

But the information provided by the SSA did not mention an after-hours casino trip, family members staying at the hotel, or the 20-minute dance party ABC15 observed.

Provision in HealthCare Bill would make Private Insurance Illegal

Photos

Government Run Health Care

Government Run Health Care

uploaded by politisite

President Obama has assured Americans that they can keep their private insurance if they want to but, he didn't mention the process by which to do so.  He also didn't mention that those with Individual private coverage cannot make any changes once the option is chosen.  This is a very good reason why we should not count on our legislators to read and interpret Bills for us.  We must be pro-active and read the bill ourselves even if it is 1,018 pages long.

Congress: It didn't take long to run into an "uh-oh" moment when reading the House's "health care for all Americans" bill. Right there on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal.

When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.

It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of "Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage," the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states:

"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.

So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.

Editorial: The right move on visas

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Some say they wish it were not necessary, but in my Opinion, why are they not claiming Refugee Status at our Embassy/Consulate door when they apply for a Visa in their own Country?  What makes them change their mind from a Tourist Visa to a Refugee Claim?   As far as I am concerned they (Refugees are entering Canada under False Pretenses) when they all of a sudden flush their passports down a aircraft toilet mid flight so they can claim amnesia and not produce documentation etc.  It happens all the time.  When people such as Romas who have all of Europe to immigrate to or Mexican citizens who take advantage of Canadas good nature, it is time for Canada to say "Hey we were not born yesterday!  Time to care for our own citizens first before opening the floodgate to economic refugees.  Ever notice the groups who oppose these Visa restrictions?  They are immigration lawyers and consultants whose bread and butter business are so called refugees!

Scammers all of them.  Leave Canada open for the truly oppressed and needy, not for the opportune and greedy!

The Right Move On Visas

National Post

Published: Thursday, July 16, 2009

We wish it weren't necessary to require a visa of all Czech visitors to Canada. Even while groaning for decades under Soviet oppression, the Czechs remained among the most cultured of Europeans. The Czech Republic and its earlier incarnations have produced great composers (Dvorak and Smetana), great writers (Kafka and Kundera), hockey players (Jagr and Hasek) and tennis stars (Navratilova and Lendl), and more than their share of good pilsners, too. But what else was our Immigration department to do?

Since lifting an earlier visa requirement in 2007, refugee claimants have begun flooding in from the Czech Republic. Where there were just five in 2006, in the first four months of 2009, alone, there have been close to 3,000. Since nearly 90% of their applications will ultimately be rejected, these claimants are a huge burden on both our refugee determination system and our social programs.

Congressman wants Lawmakers to enroll in Government Health Care

Photos

No footage found.

By Albert N. Milliron, Editor Politisite.com and Iron Mill News

If Government Health care is good enough for the American people shouldn't it be good enough for the legislators themselves?  Congressman John Fleming M.D. (R-LA Dist 4) House Resolution 615 would require lawmakers to enroll in the government-run health plan it passes for the rest of Americans.

Under the current draft of the Democrat health care legislation, members of Congress are curiously exempt from the government-run health care option, keeping their existing health plans and services on Capitol Hill. If Members of Congress believe so strongly that government-run health care is the best solution for hard working American families, I think it only fitting that Americans see them lead the way. Public servants should always be accountable and responsible for what they are advocating, and I challenge the American people to demand this from their representatives.

What HR-615 would do is put each member of Congress,  who have especially good medical coverage through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP), on record to accept or reject the same health coverage they are pushing on all Americans.  This vote would be quite telling.  Congress has benefits for their children commonly referred to as Vouchers. Members of Congress can put their children in private schools while they continually vote against the same benefits for all Americans.

Congressman Fleming is asking Americans to call their congressman and request that HR-615 be included in the amendments to the Health Care Bill.  He has provided a Support Letter for House Resolution 615 to send to your representative as well.

President Obama gets cheeky

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Obama along with President Sarkozy get photographed being momentarily distracted by a comely teenager makes headlines at the G8 Summit, and the world makes a mountain out of a molehill.  One wonders if it was not a set up by photographers to see what two world leaders reactions would be when a pretty teen walked in front of them. Well Duh! That is a given, they would take a gander.  Whether it is World Leaders, a Group of Guys at a Bar or men at a Construction site, lets face it We're Guys, we are going to look!  Nothing wrong with that!  Of course, their wives may take a different view.  But then they are in Italy, so what do you expect?

Guys will be Guys, regardless of their status.

The good news is that President Barack Obama is a real live red-blooded all-American man, and I don't know about you, but I'd much rather have that kind of guy running the most powerful nation in the world than some moribund frozen-pulse old fart (can you say the Bush boys?) leading the free world.

The bad news is that the commander-in-chief's sidelong and noticeably appreciative glance at the comely derriere of a Brazilian teenager, captured by photographers Thursday and currently burning up the Internet, is making more headlines than the work that he and the rest of the G8 leaders are trying to accomplish on the global economic front in L'Aquila, Italy, this week.

The photo shows curly-haired 16-year-old G8 delegate Mayora Tavares, in a flowing knee-length sleeveless burgundy dress, walking away from Obama, who is heading down some stairs when Tavares's, um, charms clearly catch his eye.

He's in good company, mind you.

Obama says Africa is part of world affairs

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Nice to see Obama tell African Leaders the way it is " Pull up your friggin Bootstraps and get with the Program" perhaps not in so many words, but since these countries whined for Independence for decades, they got it, yet many havent a clue how to run their country as an independent country, without suckling at the Worlds Teats for money. Especially money from countries they still abhored, including from Colonial countries who once made their countries prosperous, until African Dictators brought these countries fast into the stone age, with a populace who did little to stop it.

Of course if Obamas predecessor Bush or other world leader said what Obama said, guaranteed the word Racist would be bandied about.  Time to let em do Independence the old fashion way, Earn it or lose it !  You cannot have it both ways. The financial tap will soon run dry and those who do not help themselves will soon perish.

Course it is funny Saudi Arabia who has more money than God, and who wish a Muslim world, seem more tight fisted than a Scotsman on Christmas when sending money to help out their Muslim brethen in poorer and starving parts of the African or Middle Eastern world, like the West Bank etc,,,,preferring the Christian set and other organizations to fund all these charities we seem bent on sending truckloads of aid too.

The U.S. president was scheduled to spend 21 hours in Ghana on the weekend, showing support for the Western African nation's democratic tradition and its relationship with the Western world.

And in a 33-minute speech Obama gave to Ghana's Parliament, he talked openly about Africa's promising future, as well as the many problems it is currently facing, including those that it is responsible for creating.

"This is a new moment of promise," he said. "To realize that promise, we must first recognize a fundamental truth that you have given life to in Ghana: Development depends upon good governance. That is the ingredient which has been missing in far too many places, for far too long. That is the change that can unlock Africa's potential."

Obama didn't hold back on the problems with corruption seen in many African countries, which he said have held such nations back from the success and prosperity they deserve.

Canadians favour their health care to U.S. system: poll

Photos

No footage found.

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Why of course Canadians would prefer their own Health Care, with all its flaws over the non existent US medicare system, that is pretty much a no brainer.  No one in Canada lost their home over a sprained ankle.

OTTAWA -- Canadians think their American neighbours would be wise to look north as they grapple with a massive health-care overhaul.

That's the conclusion drawn from a new poll published as Capitol Hill legislators debate a plan to cover nearly all Americans with government-run health insurance.

The Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey suggests 82 per cent of Canadians believe our system is better than U.S. health care.

The Canadian health-care system has been in the spotlight for weeks at congressional hearings, where it has alternately been characterized as the gold standard and a rusty system plagued with problems and delays.

By the end of the month, the House of Representatives hopes to vote on a health reform plan, and U.S. President Barack Obama has said he wants legislation by October.

Last week, the two leaders of the Senate health committee announced that they'd come up with a government-run insurance option to compete with private insurance plans.

10 reasons why Joe Jackson should not be allowed near children

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
The Guy sounds like a real Prince, thhough more like the Prince of Darkness, yet for some reason his family still include him in their lives. Guess the wrong Jackson died for that matter. Nice to see a Vulture, once finished picking the bones clean of his own flesh and blood, looks like he is salivating over his next meal....his grandchildren!!

Since the untimely death of his son, Joe Jackson has emerged from the ensuing media frenzy with a library of quotes that, rather than reinvigorating his image and career, instead confirm he is the insensitive, money hungry, exploitative father we all have long suspected he is. After plugging his record company at the BET awards just three days after Michael's death, Joe called a press conference where, instead of apologizing for his gross error in judgment, plugged his record company again. To the horror of mothers everywhere, Joe is currently helping his wife Katherine care for Michael's three children, and in an interview yesterday with ABC, Joe again said what none of us wanted to hear, this time pondering the future musical careers of his grandchildren. If anyone needs reminding about Joe's suspect parenting abilities, take a look at his 2003 BBC interview, in which he asserts that it only counts as a beating if you do it with a stick.

Leaders in House Would Tax Rich for Health Plan

Keep Your Pocket Book Open.  The House ways and means committee will find the means with the so called rich.  Those Americans who make $280,000 or more.  Most of which own the small business in America and provide employment to millions of people.  The new way of Representative Charles B. Rangel of New York is to pay for health care through people who provide health care to their own employees.  Don't beleive it will stop there.  The $550 Billion is just the down payment on the program thus, the additional funds will come from somewhere and that somewhere will come from fees and taxes on production in America making American products more costly.  This type of economics has been tried before and has failed dismially.  But Americans think that just because the party in office has changed that government spending seems alright following a high spending Republican President and Congress over the prior four years.

WASHINGTON — House Democrats will ask the wealthiest Americans to help pay for overhauling the health care system with a $550 billion income tax increase, the chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee said Friday.

The proposal calls for a surtax on individuals earning at least $280,000 in adjusted gross income and couples earning more than $350,000, said the chairman, Representative Charles B. Rangel of New York

Here’s your headline of the day:

“Only four show up for health care rally.”

Only four show up for health care rally

TUPELO - A health care rally drew only four people to U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker's office Thursday.

Sponsored by MoveOn, a national public policy advocacy organization, the rally was intended to support expanded health care for the poor.

Organizer James Hull said 100 e-mail invitations were sent but wasn't surprised by the turnout.

Hull said the location had nothing to do with Wicker personally. "It is not a protest for or against him," Hull said. "It's from his desk that this dialogue will have to proceed."

Rally Calls for SC Governor Sanford to Resign over Affair

Photos

No footage found.

By Albert N. Milliron, Editor Politisite.com

Columbia, SC – (IMNS) – A group of about 50 protesters gathered at the South Carolina State House calling for Governor Mark Sanford to be Impeached or Resign. At first glance Main Stream Media trucks from all over South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia were gearing up for a major event.  But the Major rally would never occur. After a careful review, it appeared that attendees were more media then protesters.

The Columbia weather called for scattered showers and appeared that it could impede the protest but cleared up just in time for the rally that lasted Just over an Hour.

The stage was lined with 17 people holding signs and chanting the old stand by, “Hey Hey Ho Ho Mark Sanford’s has Gotta Go”

Posters Signs read, “Don’t quote the Bible if you won’t live by it!”, “Take a Real Hike”, and “No Call, No Show, No Job”

Phil Noble, president of South Carolina New Democrats, said he wasn’t worried about numbers, a recent poll said 60 percent of South Carolinians think Gov. Sanford should resign. So Noble said it was a matter of principle.

There were a few Mark Sanford supporters holding signs that read, “We Support Sanford” When asked why they were attending the rally intended to oust Sanford they related that Sanford has done so much for South Carolina and there was more for Him to do.

Another couple stated that they felt that Sanford had personally let them down for not being in control of the state when he was away.

One group, Mission to America, actually traveled all the way from San Diego, California. The Mission Leader provided the most Charismatic portion of the rally encouraging political leaders to return to ethics, credibility, and faithfulness in politics. The group traveled with their dogs in tow. This writer was convinced that dogs were Republican and Cats Democrat. While the Dogs made no comments nor carried any signs they seemed to support their speaker.

The Rally was a Grassroots effort by Marilyn Hemingway of Seneca, S.C. called “Impeach Mark Sanford.” on the social Networking Site Facebook. The group has grown to about 6,000 members, but only 65 estimated that they would attending the rally today.

Mark Sanford’s spokesman sent out an email that stated the Governor would not be stepping down, saying the governor has a great deal of work to do for the State. Work that included rebuilding the trust of the people. Last Month Governor Sanford admitted to a national audience that he had an affair with Maria Belen Chapur while in Argentina.

Sanford Impeach/ Resign Rally Today at 5:30pm at the State House

By Albert N. Miliron, Editor Politisite.com on July 9th, 2009 at 10:56 am

Doesn’t one think that Bombing an aspirin factory to Get Monica Lewinsky off the News cycle more of an impeachable offense then his affair. This whole thing that, “Its not about the sex, its because you didn’t tell me where you were” rings so much all those who claimed that Clinton had personal affair and its none of our business. Lewinski was a White House aide and it is a violation of every standard to have encounters of that kind. Think Clinton wasn’t missing in Action? How many events did he carry out to cover up his behavior by bombing Iraq and Missile strikes. So one should look deep within ones self and ask… “is this because Sanford is oppositional to my political leanings” or “do I hold all politicians to the same standard”.

Folks are touting the Thousands in a facebook group. In Practice it is much easier to check a box then to show up at the State House. I guess less then 300-400 max. I will be there to canvass the protesters to see if this is not just a democrat led smear by those who protected their favorite son in President Clinton

New Report: How Safe are you in a Federal Building?

Videos

uploaded by politisite

Do you feel safe when you walk into a Federal Building?  Following 9/11 one would think with the Department of Homeland Securities Federal Protective Service was designed to provide high safty standards to Ffederal employees and those who utilize Federal Buildings.  Some on the Hill care calling the agency, "The Federal Unprotecteive Service"

The GAO Sting captured video of  a guard sleeping at a high level check point while on pain killers,  viewing Adult Web sites and carrying on a porn business on government computers, even more appalling rather then going thrrough proper procedures for getting a baby through a check point, the Security Officer passed the baby through a liuggage type X-ray machine.

Senatior Susan Collins (R-Me) GAO: Untrained guards mean unprotected Feds

"The Federal Protective Service is a key component of our nation's security. Every day FPS officers and the agency's contracted security guards protect nearly 9,000 federal facilities, the people who work in them, and the visitors who come to them to access vital government services," Sen. Susan Collins, R-Me., ranking member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Issues said yesterday during a hearing on the subject. "In this post 9-11 world that we are now living in, I cannot fathom how security breaches of this magnitude were allowed to occur."

Ten level-four federal buildings were included in the study and these included offices of a senator, a representative, and agencies of the departments of Homeland Security, State and Justice, according to Mark Goldstein, the director of Physical Infrastructure Issues for the GAO. Level four buildings have the most security of all federal office buildings, second only to the White House and the Capitol.

"Our investigators used publicly available information to identify a type of device that a terrorist could use to cause damage to a federal facility and threaten the safety of federal workers and the general public," Goldstein said. "In a number of the locations, three or four of them, the guards were not even looking at the screens that would show the materials passing through. In only one instance did a guard ask about something that our investigator was carrying, a brief explanation and that guard let it go through."

Mark L. Goldstien Responds to Congress

The recent sting by the Government Accountability Office exposed lax security procedures by the Federal Protective Service, the agency tasked with guarding more than 1 million workers at 9,000 federal buildings nationwide.

Mark L. Goldstein, who led the investigation, told lawmakers that his team carried bombmaking materials into 10 high-security federal buildings in the past year. The materials could be purchased in stores or online and cost roughly $150. Once inside, investigators assembled bombs in restrooms and then walked around with them, undetected. In only one instance did a security guard question an investigator carrying suspicious materials.

"One of the concerns we had is that in a number of the locations, three or four of them, guards were not even looking at the screens that would show materials passing through. If a guard had been looking, they would have seen materials not normally brought into a federal building," Goldstein said.

Chairman Sen. Joseph Lieberman, (I-Conn) Told Fox News that he used to feel safe in Government Buildings until he recieved the GAO report.  Lieberman said the GAO's probe included such troubling findings as a report that 73 percent of FPS contract guards lacked valid certifications and a report that one security guard allowed a baby to pass through an X-ray machine -- breaches in security he said make the country vulnerable to terrorist attack.  Lieberman said the guard, who was later fired, filed a lawsuit and won after FPS could not provide sufficient proof that he had been properly trained.  The GAO report found that a vast majority of security guards received no X-ray or metal detection training at all.

Chairman Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., said that in all his years of reading GAO reports, this one represented "about the broadest indictment of an agency in the federal government I've heard."

Testers smuggle bomb parts into buildings; official takes blame

A contrite head of the Federal Protective Service took the blame Wednesday for security lapses that allowed covert investigators to sneak bomb components into 10 federal government buildings.

A GAO report cites lax security in federal buildings after investigators got bomb components past guards.

Plainclothes investigators testing the effectiveness of private contract guards at federal office buildings were able to smuggle in bomb components in all 10 attempts. Only one investigator was stopped and questioned, but he was allowed to pass with the components of a liquid bomb.

Once inside the facilities, the testers assembled the bombs in restrooms, put them in briefcases and "walked freely" into government offices, according to the Government Accountability Office.

Yep, pretty seet work if you can get it!  I am sure many believe it, especially those born yesterday!

VANCOUVER, B.C. - A B.C. man found with $29,000 in plastic baggies in his car says he had the cash because he's been collecting soda cans.

With a five-cent deposit on pop cans in the province, that works out to almost 600,000 aluminum cans.

What makes border guards so mean?

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

HHMMM, Wow thats a Poser,  why ARE border guards so mean?

Guess it wouldn't have anything to do with British Columbia's Seive of a Justice Department letting all manner of criminal elements out on bail from rape to gun and drug running.  Ohh Pray tell, that would make me a little incensed when the Wild, Wild West is north of Washington state when the law of the land is non existent.  Course the other manner being Canadian Customs Agents being caught being complicit in running drugs and all manner of illegal activities.  Perhaps it is Canadian citizens who still after 2 decades still can't speak the Queens English, surely that would be a Red Flag on both sides of the border, because Canada does not require people in this country to learn english or french. Yep, I can see why some guards are pretty surly when asking questions and are greeted with a look of Deer in the Headlights look from travellers who haven't a clue what the guard are asking.  And don't get me started on the Turd who insisted the US Border Guard say "Please", to me that's asking for a Tasering.

In my time with CCRA, I heard and witnessed tons of horror stories from both US and Canada Customs, when you see an endless line of travellers, you want the line to speed up, and when you meet the travellers unclued on the concept of  Sir, Madam, Please turn off/down your radio, do you have ID, What do you mean "WHY? when I ask you where you Live? or "this car is not registered to you?" You are just going for cheap gas, yet you have two suitcases in the trunk, or the best for last do you have any weapons? NO!  Boy, that 357 Magnum speed loader on your Truck's dash is a dead giveaway!

Small wonder they are a little pissed, when confronted by those who are complete morons.

There's a story from border-guard lore about the day Ahmed Ressam drove from Canada into the U.S. to detonate a bomb in Los Angeles.

Mr. Ressam – the only convicted terrorist caught trying to enter the U.S. from Canada – drove a rental car onto the ferry from Victoria to Washington State in December of 1999. U.S. border inspectors searching his car found some white powder in the trunk, and began testing it as though it were a drug. But after watching Mr. Ressam's panicked reaction to the way they were handling what turned out to be a massive explosive, they figured maybe they had something else on their hands.

Immigration cutbacks essential

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

National Post's Diane Francis pretty much says what many are thinking, but few will admit to it publicly, as she says, does it make sense for a company to hire more people in the front door, when your laid off employees are walking out the back door?

Political correctness prevents many politicians saying like it is, as the party line is more immigrants equates to more votes. Votes to keep Political parties in power, and power of lobbies and special interest groups who make pretty sweet coin off the backs of third world immigrants who can ill afford to pay either except the promise and hope they will vote for whichever party allowed them to become unemployed in a richer country than a poor country.   Immigration Scams are big business, British Columbia being the largest anywhere in the World no doubt, with Boiler Room Universities running out of tiny offices, offering little in the way of education, more like Visas for Cash, and an opportunity for immigrants to get student visas for a little ESL schooling, many could have gotten in their own country without coming to ours.

Media have reported these scams in the past with Immigration Consultants or Boiler Room Universities and Colleges with dubious track records resulting in little in the way of repercussions or punishment given to immigration consultants or so called ESL teachers who coach immigrants to convey the same broken record to Federal Immigration officers.

Like to story states one scam, in a remote town up north, a classified ad looking for 11 Cantonese Chefs, on the premise of knowing no one would either move up north, and knowing full well there is unlikely to be any walking the small town, chef hat and wok in hand.  Federal rules state, you must hire locally first before you can hire outside our country.  Dollars to donuts, this scam family have 11 family members back in China who they want to bring over.  I my have been born............just not yesterday!  Enuff Said!

Time to care for our own, we have close to a million homeless and unemployed, does it make sense to bring in more from whereabouts unknown?  Of course not, Canada and Canadians needs to recover financially, get back to the good times and build a nest egg for the bad times, but until then, we can ill afford to care for others.

Immigration cutbacks essential

by Diane Francis

Canadian Politics, U.S. Politics, dysfunction, economy It’s the issue that dares not speak its name, but the time has come to consider curbing immigration during this emergency period, except to fill skilled trades vacancies.

Canada hosts more immigrants and refugees per capita than any other developed country, but as unemployment will continue to climb and as many workers need retraining, it’s time to cut back on the number of newcomers Canada admits. Immigration is politically incorrect to question, much less criticize.

This is because of many myths and also because the immigration lobby is embedded in all parties and provinces. The lobby includes the politicians, lawyers, consultants and special interest groups that make hay off the flow of people into the country.

But setting aside politics, just ask yourself: would a company keep hiring workers and increasing overheads if it had to lay off people?

Because they can:

South Korea says North Korea has fired a fourth missile off its eastern coast.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff says three missiles were fired early Saturday and the fourth at about noon.

The launches come two days after North Korea fired four short-range missiles.

Yonhap says they’re Scuds.

Did President Obama’s phone ring yet?

Just In Politisite: Sarah Palin will not seek re-election

Just In Politisite: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will not seek re-election Posted on July 3, 2009 by politisite | Edit

Just In:  Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will not seek re-electionJust In:  Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will

It is just breaking on CNN that Sarah Palin will NOT run for re-election for Governor of Alaska. She can’t take the heat. She wants to further shirk her responsibilities so she can run for president. I congratulate the people of Alaska for shedding themselves of her. This could be used as a live open thread as she appears before reporters and cameras.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division clears Sanford

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division clears Sanford (SLED) Clears Governor Sanford of missappropriating Satate Funds in Love Liasion

COLUMBIA — The state's top prosecutor and the director of the State Law Enforcement Division appeared Thursday to close off any possibility of a criminal investigation into the extramarital affair of Gov. Mark Sanford after a review of travel records showed no use of state funds on Sanford's trips to see his mistress.

The announcement buoyed some of Sanford's allies and appeared to stem the flow of calls for the governor's resignation that came Tuesday and Wednesday following new disclosures by the governor about “crossed lines” with other women and his view that his lover was his “soul mate.”

Reggie Lloyd, director of the State Law Enforcement Division, told reporters that after examining Sanford's personal records, his calendar, state travel records and interviewing the governor and others, SLED could find no violations in connection with his trips to meet his paramour.

“In terms of looking at it from a criminal standpoint, was there a criminal violation or misuse of public funds, we have found none, nor has anybody brought us any facts to suggest our findings are questionable or there should be another investigation,” Lloyd said.

State Attorney General Henry McMaster said he would review Lloyd's report next week but saw no reason to doubt its conclusions or objectivity.

“I will not duck or abuse my constitutional responsibilities merely to satisfy those who seek a politically motivated fishing expedition,” he said in a statement.

Sanford's office said the governor has no plans to step aside.

Who Sighned the Declaration of Independence First?

Ten Percent of Americans thought Georgia Washington Sighned the Declaration of Independence First.  He wasn't even there.  Shows that Government eduction is a bit lacking in American schools

Americans are celebrating the nation's 233rd birthday, and the words of the Declaration of Independence will be heard at countless patriotic ceremonies across the land. The core ideals articulated by those words are still embraced by solid majorities of the American public.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 89% of American adults agree that "we are all endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Only seven percent (7%) disagree on that founding premise.

Seventy-four percent (74%) agree with the assertion that “all men are created equal” while just 23% disagree.

(Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on http://twitter.com/RasmussenPoll blocked::http://twitter.com/RasmussenPoll" target="_self">Twitter.

Fifty-six percent (56%) agree with the view that governments derive their only just authority from the “consent of the governed.” Interestingly, one-in-four Americans (25%) disagree.

Other survey data shows that voters nationwide overwhelming trust the American people to make key decisions more than they trust political leaders. Those who disagree and hold a Political Class perspective represent a small minority of the population.

When presented with a choice of five Founding Fathers, 40% of American adults were able to correctly identify John Hancock as the first man to sign the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Sixteen percent (16%) thought that honor belonged to Thomas Jefferson, the primary author of the document.
