President Obama has Gibbs, Revise, Revise, Revise Again

Press Gaggle Aboard Air Force One

Posted: 22 Apr 2009 10:52 AM PDT

Here's an excerpt from the press gaggle aboard Air Force One earlier today as the President was en route to an Earth Day event in Iowa. Gibbs was once again peppered with questions about Obama's statement yesterday opening the door to a commission to prosecute Bush administration officials over devising interrrogation procedures:

Q    Any clarity from yesterday on the President's position on torture memos, and any reaction to Dennis Blair's memo that appeared in papers today?

MR. GIBBS:  Well, on the first question, what exactly -- what clarity are you looking for?

Q    We're looking -- you said you were going to talk to -- get back to us with clarity on the President's remarks.

MR. GIBBS:  Well, I think what -- maybe what I wasn't clear about yesterday and -- because what was said yesterday was exactly what the President has said for not just the past week, as we've dealt with these OLC memos, but for the past many months.  Let's just go through the whole sort of decision in general.

The President, at the beginning of his administration, banned the use of enhanced interrogation techniques because he believed they were -- they opposed our values and, on balance, they made the country less safe.  As part of an ongoing legal proceeding, the President released these memos because there was no legal justification for continuing to keep them classified; that a lot of the information that was contained in the memos, that the types of techniques were in the public domain.

So that is part of the backdrop of where we are.  The President also believes that the memos and their release should be a moment for us to reflect, but not a moment for retribution. The President, as he said yesterday, has a lot on his plate and he believes that our focus looking forward should be on the crises that we have in the bank industry, in unemployment, the financial sector, and as he and the Attorney General have said, that while no one is above the law, those that worked within the four corners of the legal advice they were given, and those that acted in good faith based on the advice they were provided should not be subject to interrogation.

That's what the President said -- that's what the President has said all along.

Q    Should not be subject to what?

MR. GIBBS:  Should not be subject to prosecution.

Q    The President said yesterday that he wanted to ensure that if there was any kind of investigation, politics were not part of the equation.  Given that, would he be supportive at some point appointing a special prosecutor to look into these Bush-era officials?

MR. GIBBS:  Well, look, I think this goes into the -- in some ways, the non-clarity of yesterday.  Let me use an example. If you go in the back of the plane, Air Force One, and spray-paint the walls and smoke in the bathroom, the President isn't going to determine whether you broke the law; a legal official is going to determine whether you broke the law.  That's the determination that will be made in any instance whereby anybody knowingly breaks the law.

Q    But due to the fact that his AG, Eric Holder, is a political appointee, would it not be less political to have a prosecutor to look into these issues?

MR. GIBBS:  I think that the lawyers that are involved are plenty capable of determining whether any law has been broken.  I want to stress that that determination is not going to be made by the President, or the Vice President, or anybody that works in the White House, because that's why many, many, many, many moons ago we created a Department of Justice.

India probes dispute over 'Slumdog' child star

No footage found.

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Isn't it refreshing to see a parent making money of the backs of their nine year old child actress daughter, looking to sell their child into sexual slavery to a reporter posing as an Arab Shiek,  Yep, what a wonderful world we live in.

I say if this is true, they should Hang the Bastard by his Nuts!  But then, in Mumbai it is a Man's world so one can be sure it is all just a quaint cultural misunderstanding!

India probes dispute over 'Slumdog' child starMUMBAI, India - Indian police are investigating claims and counterclaims by the parents of a child star in "Slumdog Millionaire" after a British tabloid alleged the father tried to sell the nine-year-old girl to an undercover reporter.
The accusations further complicated the lives of the families of the slum-dwelling child stars, who have come under intense scrutiny since the movie skyrocketed to Oscar-winning fame and grossed more than $300 million worldwide.
Khurshid Begum, the estranged mother of "Slumdog Millionaire" star Rubina Ali, filed a complaint with Mumbai police on Sunday after News of the World reported that the father planned to put her up for adoption. The British newspaper said the deal was allegedly offered to one of its reporters posing as a sheik from the Mideast.

Thousands expected to light up outside Vancouver library for Pot

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
Well this is sure to be an event, during this election, one wonders which or how many politicians will show, looking too suck up some votes from the potheads, not that any would remember which Politician they met through their Smoke filled Glasses.  And we wonder about all the Marijuana related shootings and killings our Politicians spout about when stating we have a handle on Crime and we are doing our best to stop it.  Yep, I can see that! Can you?

Wonder what would have happen during this POT FEST, of a lone cigarette smoker happen to pass by too close to a public building in contravention of our City Bylaws?  I tell you what would happen, Swat would be upon him and charge him $100.00 for endangering the Public Health, all within rock throwing distance of thousands of Pot Smokers the Public Library, funny they wont suffer a similar fate, all because they are not smoking a cigarette.

Last year the smoke was so thick it could be seen a block away and the acrid smoke could be smelled blocks away, one would think with the unemployment rampant in the city, they would be out looking for a job cause they are outraged they cannot find a job, but then when I watched them Prancing and Singing last year, who would hire them?

In ending, it is nice to Hypocrisy Rules in a city of Politicians who clearly have no clue in how to lay down the law, except for the lone cigarette smoker watching all this .

VANCOUVER — A cloud of marijuana smoke will be hovering over the Vancouver Public Library on Monday as thousands spark up for National Pot Smokers Day. Vancouver police will be attending the annual '420' event, which attracted some 6,000 people last year, to ensure it remains peaceful. Despite open drug use last year, no arrests were made. The festivities begin at 4:20 p.m.

Rep. Schakowsky (D-IL) Calls Parties "Despicable' and "Shameful"

By Albert N. Milliron, Editor Politisite.com

Seems like the working Talking point to diminish the impact of the nearly 500,000 who participated in the Tax Day Tea Parties is to call the movement an Astro-Turf (Fake Grassroots) event. Nancy Pelosi related this to reporters. She stated the tea party events are being funded by BIG Business and New Corp. Anyone who has been close to the city Planners is well aware that there was no funding form outside sources and gathering permits, obtaining insurance, and providing equipment were left up to the volunteers at the local level. There has been no evidence presented that large corporations have funded any of the Tea Party Events.

The other talking point appears to be to call the participants uneducated and misinformed by those who would benefit by big business legislation. In addition some congressman are saying that these tax day parties are a direct attack on the Obama administration. Most of the tea party footage that is available shows that the participants are upset with congress as a whole and how government is involved in the free market system.

While Protesters in left wing groups get dismissed for violent acts because they're ideology is in agreement with the left leaning Main Stream Media, The Tea parties are being called, "despicable and Shameful". Interestingly enough out of the 304 tea parties that data is available for there was one arrest. Despicable and Shameful indeed.

Schakowsky Statement on 'Tax Day Tea Parties'

CHICAGO, IL (April 15, 2009) – Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL, released the following statement in response to “tea parties” being held on Tax Day. “The ‘tea parties’ being held today by groups of right-wing activists, and fueled by FOX News Channel, are an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan that cuts taxes for 95 percent of Americans and creates 3.5 million jobs.

It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt. Not a single American household or business will be taxed at a higher rate this year. Made to look like a grassroots uprising, this is an Obama bashing party promoted by corporate interests, as well as Republican lobbyists and politicians.”

James Wolcott: Beclowned

James Wolcott: Beclowned By Michelle Malkin  •  April 16, 2009 12:09 PM

Watch this. Liberal toady James Wolcott argues that since he didn’t see big Tea Party crowds on his favorite left-wing tv stations and didn’t read front-page stories about the protests in his favorite left-wing newspapers, they weren’t newsworthy and no one really turned out except at the ones Fox News covered. C-SPAN host Susan Swain then displays front page after front page of local news coverage showing thousands of Tea Party participants:

“Does that change your view?”

Wolcott: Er, no.

A classic beclowning:

By the way, the unofficial estimate of yesterday’s nationwide turnout has now surpassed 240,000.

And here’s another estimate based on newspaper accounts: At least 250,000.

I’m continuing to update the mother of all Tea Party photo collections here.

Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.

Premier Campbell unveils new promises: Political Ransom for Votes

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

As the photo caption states:

To fight crime, Mr. Campbell said he will introduce "new legislation to require those arrested with outstanding warrants from other provinces to be immediately returned to those jurisdictions."

Well in my Opinion if Premier Campbell was serious about crime, why wait until after the election?

We have a serious issue in this Province, and enticing votes in order to safeguard our lives against the criminal element Reeks of Political Ransom! In other words Vote for "Premier "Vito Don" Campbell or I'll let the criminals rule the Roost!

Well "Mr. Premier Snot Nosed Scammer" I wasn't born Yesterday, and neither were the voters of BC!

VANCOUVER -- Under a new B.C. Liberal government, criminals with arrest warrants from outside British Columbia will be denied income assistance and other provincial benefits until they deal with their problems from back home.

This promise is contained in the B.C. Liberal Party election platform released in Vancouver Wednesday morning by Premier Gordon Campbell.

Focusing heavily on his party's approach to the economy -- but also addressing issues such as crime and seniors' care -- the platform outlines what Mr. Campbell calls "six pillars for a strong B.C."

Bring back private pirate hunters: U.S. lawmaker

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Ohh and Arms Race between Privateers and Pirates.  Imagine if you will a cargo ship armed with surface to surface missles and indiscriminaltely blowing up any boat within 5 miles of it reach.

Though a great idea in concept, cargo carriers are not Military and the Military are not Babysitters and Security Guards. One solution is the charge shippers a fee for a military escort into dangerous waters.  Designate certain days and shipping lanes like a convoy of cargo containers through the straits under military escort, and the Military charge
all ships a fee for safe passage.

Now there is an idea!

WASHINGTON -- A U.S. lawmaker says Somali piracy has an age-old solution: "Letters of marque" empowering private citizens to chase the seaborne scoundrels from the oceans.

Republican Representative Ron Paul and a handful of conservative theorists say it's time that the U.S. Congress used the technique, pioneered by European powers in the 18th century as a way to wage naval warfare on the cheap.

The life and death of Betty "the Loan Shark"

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Betty the Loan Shark, was a common fixture at Casino Parking lots, where it is said would dispense cash to fellow Asians whose luck ran out, guess Bettys gamble finally resulted in Craps!  Betty it seems had a different story for every occasion when arrested, from International Spy to Mother who would use her young children as human shield to ward of Hit Contracts when it was revealed she named names, any names in order to stave off deportation back to Asia.  Certainly shows why many in British Columbia blamed politicians for selling BC er's to Asian Crime Gangs, where past Governments Immigration Agencies effectiveness at background checks of immigrants was as a loose as Immigration Canada on Olestra.

All who knew her came to the same conclusion.

“It was only a matter of time,” said Asian organized-crime investigators who spoke to The Province about the woman found shot dead inside a Mercedes-Benz at a Richmond industrial complex Wednesday morning.

Her name was Betty Yan, a.k.a. Betty “the Loan Shark” Yan, a.k.a. “Big Sister” Betty, a.k.a. Betty Tung Sze Yan.

Senator DeMint not on the Sidelines at Tea Party Rallies

Photos

No footage found.

DeMint and other well-known conservatives, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, are lined up to speak at some of the demonstrations.  DeMint will address protesters in Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston, S.C., according to his spokesman, Wesley Denton. Culberson will attend a Houston demonstration, but he is not scheduled to speak.

DeMint said he's "encouraged" about the protests because "so many are ready to stand up and fight for freedom."

"These are moms and dads, teachers and students, businessmen and women who are concerned for their country," DeMint told FOXNews.com. "They are worried that our nation is quickly being taken in the wrong direction by politicians who are more concerned about the next election instead of the next generation."

"This cuts across party lines and demographic divides. It's not about Republican or Democrat, its about citizens who believe America can only survive if we protect the principles of liberty from a federal government that is out of control and must be reformed now. And that's a real message of hope," he said.

"The Tea Party grassroots movement understands and is sending the message to Washington that we cannot tax, borrow, and spend our way to prosperity," Culberson said.

Tea Parties; Some Congressman not sitting on the Sidelines

If members of Congress are planning to attend the Tax Day Tea Party protests on April 15, they're keeping awfully quiet about it.

The tea party movement has garnered nationwide attention since its launch on Feb. 27, and scores if not hundreds of tea parties are expected to be held across the country on Wednesday.

But so far, FOXNews.com has found only two members of Congress -- both Republicans -- who have  committed to attending the demonstrations on the day income taxes are due.

Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina and Texas Rep. John Culberson, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, say they will attend the protests to show their opposition to the government's massive spending bill. That leaves roughly 530 senators and congressmen who haven't been heard from.

Whether the tea party movement is large enough yet to elicit a response from the White House or effect change in the halls of Congress is "hard to say," said Mike Leahy, co-founder of Top Conservatives on Twitter, one of three conservative groups behind the grassroots effort.

Gang crime security crackdown on port and airport workers may aff

Barry Artiste Op/Ed It's about time the Conservative Government decided to kick ass and taking names in what is belived for decades our ports are rife with organized crime, everything from drugs to illegal immigration. It will be interesting to see which Politicians and Unions oppose this crime fighting move, of course it may give insight on those opponents on which side their bread is buttered on! http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Gang+crime+security+crackdown+port+airport+workers+affect+people/1486168/story.html Gang crime security crackdown on port and airport workers may affect 100,000 people By Mike De Souza, Canwest News Service Tens of thousands of workers at B.C. airports and ports are among 100,000 people nationwide who may be affected by a security crackdown announced by the Conservative government. The initiative comes through a new deal signed this week by the federal Transport Department and the RCMP to weed out organized-crime operatives from restricted areas, Canwest News Service has learned. The agreement would improve information-sharing between the two agencies and allow the RCMP to conduct detailed background checks on employees applying for new security passes or renewals. The deal is intended to improve the security of both passengers and cargo. Sgt. Shinder Kirk, of B.C.’s Integrated Gang Task Force, said Friday he wasn’t aware of the initiative but applauded any moves to tighten security to prevent illegal cargo from entering or leaving the city. He noted that Metro Vancouver, as a major port city, is extremely vulnerable because of its connections to Asia, its proximity to the U.S. border and its growing international airport.

Remember the good Ole days when big donors got the opportunity to stay a night or two in the Lincoln Bedroom. Why old news today, I thought it would be fitting to revisit the issue and compare and contrast a new Clinton attempt to retire her Campaign debt.

With Hilliary Clinton attacking her news Job with the Obama Administration, James Carville, the Inventor of the war Room has taken the reins to retire all of the left over debt from Hillary's failed Presidential campaign.  As of today, there are vender's and creditors still waiting  to be paid for the service provided to the Clinton campaign.  Even though the Clinton's did very well financially during the Bush years, they think it not important to pay the hard working Americans who provided guidance and services while she was running.

James Carville came up with a plan form the old play book.  Since the Lincoln Bedroom is no longer available for sale.  Carville has written a letter to former Clinton supporters asking them to retire the campaign debt that still is nearly 8 million dollars.  The Offer?  How about a day with Bill Clinton as a prize, Better yet an all expense paid trip to the American Idol Set's Grand Finale?  If that doesn't suit you, James himself has offered to pimp himself for a day of political discourse.  Wow a day with the Man who said,

"I was against gay marriage until I realized I didn't have to get one." or "The teachings of the Church line up more with the Democratic Party than the Republican Party." and still another tid bit of insight you would receive, When your opponent is drowning, throw the son of a bitch an anvil."

Back to the Lincoln Bedroom.  This proved very profitable for the Democrats, a property that is owned and maintained by the American people, Carville devised a scam to give the Lincohn Bedroom saty as a perk for major donors .

Why bring this ancient history up again?  Today James Carville sent out a letter (See Below)  That offers those who restore Hillary Clinton's Debt a chance to Have a Lincoln bedroom Experience.

Before it was to receive contributions now it is to retire debt from a political campaign.  Does the Campaign have any idea that there is a recession on?  With the White House rhetoric that this economic crisis could lead to catastrophe, Carville is asking you to pay Clinton's debt while hard working Americans are in financial crisis.  What steal from he to retire the debt of the rich?  Isn't that just what James Carville said the Republicans did?

I would say this is beyond the political pail, even for James Carville.  Here is a suggestion, How about the Clinton's retire their own debt and not bother the hard working Americans to pay for yet another  financial bailout called the CCD?

Here is the transcript from the Carville Letter under Hillary Clinton's Logo

A Smart Girl's Take on America' move from Capitalism to Socialism

Here is a concerned citizens t ake on America's  move from Capitalism to Socialism.

By Kathryn Milliron, Staff Writer, Politisite.com and Iron Mill News

I’ve heard a great deal of talk in the conservative realm about the liberals of the country trying very hard to push the US from being a capitalist country into being a socialist country. Many have been saying that our current president is himself a “socialist”.

Being your average Jane, I did not have a firm understanding of the differences between the two and the type of impact that change would have on the lives of the average citizens of our fair country. So I began to research. The more I researched, the angrier I became.

I began with a simple search for the terms capitalism and socialism.

According to Merriam-Webster.com, the definition of capitalism is:

: an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.

On Merriam-Webster. com, the definition of socialism is:

1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods 2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state 3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.

Okay, so I now know the definitions. And so far I do not like what the definition of socialism has to offer. Where is the freedom that this country is so accustomed to?

Well, since  I clearly I did not know about the implications of this “change” I decided to go back and see what our founding Fathers had to say in the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. They did form this country after all, so they know what the US was intended to be.

Stolen Canadian plane lands in Missouri

Photos

No footage found.

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Lucky for the pilot, F-16s didnt shoot him down, and two, this guy is lucky Gitmo is closing, otherwise someone would be eatin **** sandwiches, courtesty of the guards,

The Cessna 172 was taken around 2:55 p.m. ET and soon crossed into the United States, passing over Wisconsin and Illinois as it was tracked by two F-16 fighter jets.

Nearly eight hours later, the pilot landed on a dirt road in the southern Missouri town of Ellsinore and fled on foot.

Authorities allege 31-year-old Adam Dylan Leon, a native of Turkey who became a Canadian citizen last year, flew the stolen plane. He was arrested just outside Ellsinore late Monday night.

Lt.-Cmdr. Gary Ross, a spokesperson for the North American Aerospace Defense Command, said the pilot did not respond to radio calls from the jets or the FAA during the entire pursuit.

He also said the pilot refused to acknowledge the nonverbal communications from the F-16 jets to follow them. It appears the plane only landed as it came close to running out of fuel.

Political gain leaves Afghan women behind

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Boy, it is pretty scary when the Taliban look to Canada for ideas, such as polygamy, religious freedoms, and Yes, a Liberal Province of Ontario were seriously considering Sharia Law in Canada.  Certainly when Ethnic Votes can ensure either Political dominance or a few years of opulence for Politicians looking to make a living on the Taxpayers dime, it shows so called professed Liberal Politicians, whether in Afghanistan or Canada would sell their own daughters , mothers and aunts, sisters and grandmothers to the Taliban if it meant 4 more years in power.

Something to think about next election time, when politicians are grandstanding for that much needed ethnic or religious vote!  So much for the time honoured belief we are all equal in the eyes of God, cause Politicians never have subscribed to that belief ever!

Question: Where did the Taliban in Afghanistan get the idea they could do a deal with President Hamid Karzai to bring in Shariah law?

Choose the best answer from the following:

1. The Taliban was encouraged by the fact that in February, the Pakistani government let it legally administer Shariah law in the country's Swat Valley If you chose this answer, you're right. Note that the Taliban in Pakistan offered a 10-day ceasefire in good will and agreed to give up their weapons. Pictures smuggled out of the Swat area and aired on national TV show the Taliban terrorizing inhabitants with all kinds of weapons. In their leisure time, they're shown flogging women. They also burn girl's schools and insist that women stay home - unless, of course they have their husband's permission to go out.

2. The Afghani Taliban looked to Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, where Shariah law has been firmly entrenched for years, and said if they can do it, so can we.

If you chose this answer, you are right. After all, the West - aside from momentary outrage over high profile cases such as Mohamed Kohail, a 23-year-old Montrealer who may yet have his head lopped off - shows no inclination to invade Saudi Arabia. The Canadian government has yet to effectively intervene.

3. The Taliban read up on Canada where, for months in 2004-05, the province of Ontario debated whether or not it should allow Shariah law. We nearly made it, they said, when the idiotic proposition was finally rejected.

If you chose this answer, you are right. It is jaw dropping that a Canadian province could seriously entertain the possibility of a law that puts the rights of women somewhere below those of the family pet. "They don't like women," said an Afghani doctor, when I was helping with her English a few years ago. She explained in her halting yet eloquent English, that she was referring to all things Taliban and all things Shariah. She also told me about her hazardous journey over the mountains and into Pakistan to escape.

No room for special status in Canadian mainstream: Multiculturism

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Again, another story, which I have always espoused as decades of Liberal Ethnic Pandering for Votes.

Thank god we now have a Conservative Government who state to ethic communities "You are not to be treated any different than Canadians, if you want to be Canadian, then Suck it Up and start acting Canadian.  Nothing like fostering Racial Strife by treating on Culture better than another. Or kowtowing to the Liberal Drivel of Multiculturalism and Diversity in making those new to Canada "Special"!  You are Canadian as soon as your Ass hits Canadian Soil as far as I am concerned we are all equal!  Get used it!

Canada's ethno-cultural communities no longer need special status, says the minister in charge of multiculturalism.

Jason Kenney said Canada's minorities are strong and rich enough to support themselves and should compete with "old-stock" Canadians and other ethnic groups for cultural funding.

"We don't need to force the issue of diversity, it's there," he said in an interview with Sun Media. "The challenges of today aren't turning Canada into a diverse society. It already is."

OUTDATED POLICIES

Kenney said the federal Liberals' multiculturalism policies of the 1970s, which funded particular communities and "their food and folklore," are outdated. He struck a nerve, in a recent speech, when he doubted the necessity of diversity programs.

"Our ethno-cultural communities are sufficiently large and robust with their own resources that they don't need government contributions or subsidies in order to maintain diversity," he said.

After that speech, Kenney was quickly asked if the popular Ukrainian Shumka Dancers would no longer qualify for government funding.

"No," he said. "They don't qualify under multiculturalism because they are the new mainstream. They do qualify for funding under the various arts programs that exist in Canadian Heritage."

The same goes for ethnic newspapers. "They would get the same consideration as non-ethnic newspapers, but they won't get different consideration because their readers happen to be from a different part of the world originally."

Here is a related story I posted today on the futility of Multiculturalism and Diversity

'Canada isn't a hotel': CDN Immigration Minister says

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Wow, a Politician who says whats on Canadians Minds! Who knew? What Canadian Conservative Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says rings true for the majority of Canadians, when we Canadians are forced to abide by Liberal Dogma for years in accepting the drivel called Multiculturalism and Diversity, yet there are those who come to our Country obviously do not subscibe to this decades of Liberal Drivel.  I have provided countless stories on the futility of Multiculturalism and Diversity, Liberal Cliche Catchphrases spewed by Liberals at every election. It is nice to see a Minister of the Conservative party under Prime Minister Stephen Harper showing Canadians  there seems to be rules for some and not for others when it comes to those who treat Canada as a hotel of cultural ghettos, when our open expanse in this country affords others who come to this country to assimilate and feel Canadian, instead of pockets of some communities resembling countries in which Canadians do not recognise!  If immigrants to this country, wish to be cloistered in ethic communities, never venturing outside them to learn of Canada and Canadians or for that matter refuse or not bother to know and understand other cultures and peoples which make up Canada, then why should Canadians be forced to learn and understand them?  Like I say, when in Rome....................... Get it, got it, good!

Canada needs to better integrate its ethnic minorities in order to combat the potential for extremism, says Canada's immigration and multiculturalism minister.

In an interview with Sun Media, Jason Kenney said Canada's high level of immigration runs the risk of creating "ethnic silos" that could do here what they have done in Europe.

"We shouldn't be naive about the very real dangers of radicalization, of extremism. We shouldn't over-exaggerate it and nor should we just pretend it doesn't exist," he said.

Kenney is concerned some communities are not actively integrating with mainstream society. While he won't point fingers, he said "there are people who come to Canada or are born in Canada that have very illiberal views, who believe that their religious dogma or their ethnic grievance justifies violence."

"Now, that may be a tiny minority of people, but that's all it takes to cause real problems," he said.

fctAdTag("bigbox",MyGenericTagVar,1);

PUSHING AN AGENDA

Kenney said it's unhealthy for immigrants to isolate themselves and he's pushing an "integration" agenda.

Giving the example of a teenager in Richmond, B.C., who arrives from mainland China and spends most of his time fraternizing with other Mandarin speakers -- at school, at home, on social networking websites -- Kenney asked how much someone like that would have contact with people of different backgrounds. He believes modern communication -- Internet, satellite television -- slows down the process of integration.

"We don't just want a country that is a bunch of different silos where people don't associate with each other," he said. "Canada isn't a hotel."

Democrats Breaking Rank on Global Warming

Democrats Breaking Rank on Global Warming

By William Warren

Boldly standing up in direct defiance to the Big Government “Global Warming” zealots of the left, a startling 26 Democratic Senators broke rank on Wednesday and helped defeat a provision that would have hastened the way to costly cap-and-trade climate change legislation.

Such action sends a loud, clear message: there is a growing bipartisan resistance to the much-ballyhooed pseudo-“consensus” on anthropogenic global warming and the necessity of sweeping environmentalist policies to counteract this “dire emergency.”

As reported by The Hill, 41 Republicans and the 26 Democrats voted in favor of a critical budget amendment that will prohibit liberal lawmakers from slipping cap-and-trade legislation “under the radar” through a method known as the “reconciliation process.” Had it not been resoundingly thwarted, the “reconciliation process” would have lowered the number of Senate votes needed to pass the crippling environmentalist legislation from 60 to 51.

11% of Americans believe Obama is a Muslim

Barry Artite Op/Ed

Again, religion rears its ugly head with the practice by many unclued to the concept of including Religious based performance of a President.  For one Muslim is not a religion, funny how this is brought up in a nonsensical poll, and then a side by side poll of Lutherans, Christians, Catholics.  WTF?  Media Misinformation, just feeds the ignorant.
Not all Muslims are of the Islamic faith, but all Islamics are Muslim.  And in the end, does it really matter if Obama was or is a Muslim?   Though I am conservative by choice, I think Americans should count their lucky stars, they have President Barack Obama as President, he is articulate, intelligent, and seems to be his own man, versus the other choices. As for having a Muslim President if he were, who cares, as long as his loyalties lie with America and the people he wishes to lead to better times.    I wonder if there is a poll out there where it is asked if Americans believe Obama is Black or Hawaiian? Again, does it really matter.  Now back to Jerry Springer!

11% of Americans believe Obama is a Muslim

A poll conducted by Pew Research in March shows that over one in 10 Americans still believe President Barack Obama is a Muslim. That number is only slightly lower than the results of a poll conducted by Pew last October.

White evangelical Protestants (19%) and Republicans (17%) are among the most likely to view Obama as a Muslim, according to the poll.

In spite of Obama being on record about his Christian faith and his well known association with a Chicago United church, opponents raised questions about Obama's religion during the contentious 2008 U.S. Presidential campaign.

Conservapedia, which bills itself as the conservative alternative to Wikipedia, has a subsection called 'Obama is likely the first Muslim President' in its entry on Obama. The section lists what it sees as evidence of Obama's Muslim faith.

In June 2008, Fox News commentator E.D. Hill took issue with a fist bump (pictured above) between Obama and his wife Michelle, suggesting it was a "terrorist fist jab." Hill's program was soon cancelled and her Fox News contract not renewed.

The debate over Obama's religion soon took to the Internet where Obama's campaign started its own website to address the religion issue and other 'smears.'

McGuinty rules out use of sharia law in Ontario

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

Here is a story, on how close the vote was to pass Sharia Law in Ontario, Canada.  In light of the recent laws being considered in Afghanistan regarding taking away Afghani Womens rights, Sharia Law is also a law written by men for men, with little regard for women.  Yes, many will counter and say, but Barry, that is not true, this would never happen in Canada? Yeah, England thought it wouldn't happen there either!

As far as I am concerned the separation of church and state must be enforced, as we all know, there is no equality in Religious circles when women are concerned.

McGuinty rules out use of sharia law in Ontario http://my.nowpublic.com/world/u-n-says-a...

Updated Mon. Sep. 12 2005 11:31 PM ET

CTV.ca News Staff

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty says there will be no sharia law in his province and that he will move to ban all faith-based arbitrations.

Seeking to end months of debate, McGuinty said he would not let his province become the first Western government to allow the use of Islamic law to settle family disputes and that the boundaries between church and state would become clearer by banning religious arbitration completely.

"There will be no Shariah law in Ontario. There will be no religious arbitration in Ontario. There will be one law for all Ontarians," McGuinty told The Canadian Press.

The proposal to let Ontario residents use Islamic law for settling family disputes drew protests Thursday in Canada and at some of its diplomatic sites across Europe.

Ontario, the most populous province in Canada, has allowed Catholic and Jewish faith-based tribunals to settle family law matters such as divorce on a voluntary basis since 1991.

The practice got little attention until Muslim leaders demanded the same rights.

U.N. Says Afghan President Signs Law Legalizing Rape in Marriage

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has backed a law that the United Nations Development Fund for Women claims legalizes rape within marriage and forbids women from leaving the house without permission, The Telegraph reported Tuesday.

According to the U.N. the law, which has not been released publicly, says women cannot seek work, education or doctor's appointments unless their husband approves.

The law also allegedly gives sole custody of children to fathers and grandfathers. Opponents of the law accuse Karzai of pandering to the Shia minority whose swing vote is crucial.

While the Afghanistan constitution guarantees equal rights for women, it says the Shia population can settle cases based on Shia law.

Afghanistan would not let the U.N. see a copy of the bill, and a Karzai spokesperson would not comment.

Canada Airports Staffed byTerrorists, Drug Dealers Criminal Gangs

Barry Artiste Op. Ed

Well Canadians certainly knew out Seaports were staffed by Criminal Gangs, as reported by Government and Police agencies allowing all manner of illicit goods and illegal immigrants into our country.  Unions for these Port workers have consistently refused to allow their dock workers to undergo criminal background checks, even though the Ports fall under Federal Jurisdiction under Ports Canada!

Now we find a No Sh*t Sherlock expose from our Federal Auditor General that our Canadian Airports rival Dock workers in being staffed by the Criminal Underworld. Airports also fall under the Federal auspices of Transport Canada.

There have also been cases in Surrey, British Columbia where Customs Officers, under the control of the Federal Customs Canada have been found to be engaged in criminal drug smuggling activity.

What will be done with criminal background checks at our International Airports? Well if Ports Canada is unable to get Criminal Background checks on its Dock Workers, I surmise much the same opposition will be faced at our International Airports.  God Help Us All!

Perhaps a Big sign should be displayed at all our Canadian Ports of Entry warning "Welcome to Nancyville"!

Funny, when you hear the United States worried about Terrorism, Drug smuggling, Illegal Aliens crossing their border through Canada and call our Porous Border the most easiest border to get in and out of, many Canadian state anti Canadian rhetoric from Americans.  Well, I guess our Southern Cousins can smugly state, We told ya so!

So now Canadians can bask in the knowlegde why it can take two hours sitting in your car waiting to cross into the US, cause it appears US Customs and Immigration are doing what we should have been doing all along, Securing our Canadian Borders and Soverienty for us.

Let's hope Prime Minister Harper and his Conservatives will give RCMP and Police agencies some leeway in stopping all this National Nancyism and get down to the business in eliminating criminals from ruling the Federal roost.

Baird promises quick action on AG report

Updated Tue. Mar. 31 2009 10:06 PM ET

CTV.ca News Staff

Transport Minister John Baird has vowed to strengthen information sharing between his ministry and the RCMP, after the auditor general said people with criminal backgrounds are working at Canada's airports.

"We've got to do a much better job," Baird told reporters Tuesday.

"We're in advanced discussions with the RCMP on a ... stronger information-sharing agreement. Frankly, if we don't have one within 10 days I'm going to get our two teams together in my boardroom and not going to let them go out until it's successfully concluded."

In a report issued Tuesday afternoon, Sheila Fraser warned that Transport Canada and the RCMP are both withholding information from one another, which compromises the security of Canada's airports.

"Transport Canada issues these clearances to people to work in restricted areas of airports, and is mainly concerned about security to planes and passengers, to threats to planes and passengers," Fraser told CTV's Power Play.

"It's not as concerned or preoccupied by criminal activity that may go on in airports. I think we all know there have been a number of reports issued, even by the RCMP, that there are criminal gangs in airports."

Natasha Richardson's death saves Ohio girl

Natasha Richardson's death saves Ohio girl

Updated Wed. Apr. 1 2009 8:33 AM ET

CTV.ca News Staff

The sudden death of actress Natasha Richardson last month may have helped save the life of a seven-year-old Ohio girl.

Two days after Morgan McCracken was hit in the head by a baseball in her family's Mentor, Ohio, front yard, her parents watched news reports about how Richardson, 45, died following a skiing accident.

When Morgan began complaining of a crippling headache, her parents took her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with the very same injury that eventually killed Rishardson.

Like the late actress, Morgan didn't show any symptoms immediately after her injury, her father, Donald McCracken, told Canada AM Wednesday.

Gibsons' cops shoot "weird" woman after man gunned down in nursing home
Woman shot after she shot man inside nursing home
 By Katie Mercer, The Province

Mounties shot a woman in a wheelchair Tuesday after she shot a person inside a Gibsons nursing home. The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Christenson Village nursing home after a facility manager and a male nurse approached the wheelchair-bound resident to evict her.

The woman allegedly shot the manager with a rifle, while the nurse escaped. Residents identified the woman to The Province as Linda. They said she had been acting erratically after being served an eviction notice.

“She was being evicted because she was just weird,” said a resident, who asked not to be named. “She should have never been here.” Residents told The Province that Linda, 40, had recently shaved her head and was asking fellow residents to write recommendation letters on her behalf.

When they declined, she told them “you’re next.”

Victoria man gets 10 years in prison in HIV sex-assault case

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

So many obvious questions, with the first question being, did these women ever hear of protected sex?

The next question, when immigrating to Canada, potential immigrants must undergo Health Examinations in their native country, by Doctors selected by Immigration Canada. Was this man admitted to Canada, by authourities who knew he was infected with HIV?

Lastly, the man has been in this country since 2001, one can be sure he had unprotected sex with more than 4 women!  So will it be a matter of time before unsuspecting women find out when they go the doctors to discover they too are infected?

Blame can be laid on Immigration Canada's lax rules for admission under the then Federal Liberal Governments watch, the women who had unprotected sex with a stranger, and lastly the man who knowingly duped these women to a death sentence, whose only closure may one day come with the closing of a coffin lid.

A member of a popular Victoria marimba band has been sentenced to 10 years less three days for having unprotected sex with four Greater Victoria women without telling them he was HIV positive.

On March 2, Charles Kokanai Mzite, 37, was convicted of four counts of aggravated sexual assault between May 2001 and November 2005. Today, B.C. Supreme Court Justice Robert Johnston told Mzite he had committed offences that could only be described as “profoundly selfish.”

“You infected one woman and exposed three others to very serious risk to satisfy your own needs for intimacy and sexual gratification,” said Johnston.

“Each of the complaints would have refused to have sexual intercourse with Mr. Mzite if she’d known he was HIV positive. Each of the cases occurred in the context of a relationship. ... Each of the victims felt safe because he denied he was HIV positive.”

Teen girls trading sex for favours

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

I wish this story was an April Fools Joke, sadly it isn't.

EDMONTON -- Somewhere in the city, children as young as 11 and 12 are gathering in basements and playing intricate, graphic sex games.

I first heard about these parties a few years ago from my 12-year-old daughter, who said kids at her school played games where each girl had to perform oral sex on several boys.

Naively, I dismissed the story as another urban myth, like Pop Rocks causing heart attacks and maggots in milk-shake machines.

Turns out, these parties are very real and frighteningly commonplace.

Edmonton is featured in a new book and documentary DVD called Oral Sex is the New Goodnight Kiss by Sharlene Azam, where she explores "the growing phenomenon of middle-class girls trading sex for money, drugs and luxury goods."

The TEA Act will:

  • Save taxpayers $520 billion over the next five years by reducing government

  • Limit the growth rate of government to inflation

Enough of multiculturalism – bring on the melting pot

It is about time one States what is so plainly on many Canadians mind, When in Rome...............You are Roman period! Otherwise, why are you here?

Time to end decades of Liberal Trudeaumania who was the Father of "Canadian Nancyism" , be rid of it, and tell it like it is and should be!

Enough of multiculturalism – bring on the melting pot
LAWRENCE MARTIN
From Tuesday's Globe and Mail March 31, 2009 at 12:00 AM EDT

Issues don't get much hotter than immigration. It's where political correctness abounds, where allegations of intolerance and racism are but a breath away, where ministers had best show finesse with their pronouncements.

Not so Jason Kenney. Our man at the immigration turnstiles has been in a bull-in-a-china shop mode lately. He's told newcomers they have to speak our official languages better, he's barred British MP George Galloway from admittance, he's accused refugees of systematic abuse of the system, he's called for more integration of immigrants, and he's gone to war with the Canadian Arab Federation, a group that accuses him of being a shill for the Jewish community.

It's serious stuff. The purport is that immigrants must do more to conform to Canadian standards. The minister wants to tighten the definition of what it means to be Canadian. The pitch - when in Rome, do as the Romans do - is for less multiculturalism and more melting pot. "We want to avoid the kind of ethnic conclaves or parallel communities that exist in some European communities," says Mr. Kenney. New Canadians have "a duty to integrate. ... We don't need the state to promote diversity."

Monte Solberg, the previous Conservative immigration minister, favours the move to the melting pot, saying the Liberal concept of the multicultural mosaic is dated. Immigrant communities are more self-assured now. Ottawa, Mr. Solberg says, shouldn't be in the business of preserving their cultures.

B.C.'s Shame: The highest child poverty rate in Canada

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

Truly a shame in a country of vast wealth such as Canada, who is to blame?  Well successive Provincial governments all gave a resounding grandstanding performance every election time, yet when in power, nothing more was given except a furrowed brow, perhaps a cursory glance at the stats, and possibly even a harumph, tsk, tsk, followed by a pensive finger under chin moment and finally a solution and media blitz proclaiming "We live in the Bestest Place on Earth", There that should do it, and cure the ills of the hungry, nothing like provincial  Pride on an Empty Stomach.  NDP get all up in Arms and say Elect us, we will do something about this serious issue!! Yeah, Right!

B.C.'s Shame: The highest child poverty rate in Canada
Updated: Mon Mar. 30 2009 19:04:41 ctvbc.ca

Josephine Watson is a single mom who brings in about $2,000 a month -- and half of that goes to feed her three teenage boys.

There's not much left for other essentials. Even though the boys try to pull their weight with a paper route, it's nearly impossible to make ends meet.

"We notice when our mom is stressed and everything affects us," said Josehpine's son Matt. "We are living through a hard time."

Her children are part of a troubling statistic for the province: B.C. has the highest child poverty rate in Canada.

Sixteen per cent of children in this province live beneath the poverty line. That's despite success in other provinces that have brought their rates down.

In Alberta in 1997, the child poverty rate was 15 per cent -- and now it's been cut in half. In 2006, the rate was 7 per cent. But B.C.'s child poverty rate has stayed stubbornly high.

Starbucks announces first-ever Canadian closing in Richmond, B.C.

Starbucks closing a Richmoned, BC location doesm't surprise many, as Richmonds majority of citizens are Asian, and are historically Tea drinkers.  If not for British Taxation inflaming Colonists 200 or so years ago and the infamous Boston Tea Party, there may not have been a Starbucks or even a Tim Hortons in both our countries, as Canada and the US were Tea drinkers as well.

The coffee retailer said the decision to close was caused by current economic conditions and because the location itself was under-performing.

Democratic Operatives Attack 'Tea Party' Web Site.

An international effort to shut down the TaxDayTeaParty.com website has been detected by our technical staff. Internet experts commonly call this type of attack a Denial of Service (DOS) attack. Corrective measures are being implemented, and the site should be fully accessible again within 48 hours.
Unfortunately, these DOS attacks are very difficult to trace. In this case, the attacks have come from both domestic and international sources.  All we know for certain at this point is that a group of people want to stop this movement. We will not allow this to happen.  This citizens' movement will not be stopped.

Remember this the next time a liberal tells you he's all in favor of an open, honest, debate about the issues. They're totalitarian thugs.

Life after Google: What's the next hot search engine?

Though this story is more of a Jordan thing, it was too good to pass up. As for me, my vast knowledge in computer abilities extend to on/off, cut and paste.

Life after Google: What's the next hot search engine? Updated Sun. Mar. 29 2009 7:23 AM ET Taylor Buley, Forbes.com BURLINGAME, Calif. -- There is life after Google -- though the increasing number of search alternatives popping up around the U.S. are careful not to take the search giant head-on.

With three-quarters of all search traffic, Google might seem unassailable. But potential competitors are busy developing new ways of finding information and hunting down the investors they need to support them. Last year, more than 50 new search companies raised $330 million in venture financing, according to MoneyTree.

Is my food still safe after the 'best before' date?

Photos

Well this has certainly solved the question many of us wanted to know about the unidentifiable wrapped parcel of food in the back of the fridge for months, called "Mystery Cake" (Meatloaf)!

Is my food still safe after the 'best before' date? Last Updated: Friday, March 27, 2009 | 3:54 PM ET CBC News Got something nasty brewing at the back of your refrigerator? Maybe a half-empty yogurt container that you haven't opened since — well, you're not exactly sure when. But with the recession biting your budget, you're hesitant to put any more pressure on your bottom line by throwing out something that might have some value.

Still, you know better than to open it and eat it. It is — after all — well past the "best before date." And once that date is history, your product cannot be consumed safely, right?

Well, not exactly.

"Best before" is one of three types of date codes referred to officially in the Food and Drugs Act as "durable-life dates." These dates are defined by the act as "the amount of time, starting on the day a food is packaged, that the unopened food will retain its normal wholesomeness, palatability and nutritional value when stored under appropriate conditions."

Shlomi, 44, and Sasha Harris, 26, were arrested, according to police reports.

Vancouver Drug trafficker sues his kidnappers: Karma's a Bitch!

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

Does anyone care? Since he is in jail serving a 13 year sentence, one wonders if he successfully sues, will he get any money? If so, one can be sure Revenue Canada will get it!  One more thing, what about deportation back to Vietnam after he serves his sentence? So many unanswered questions aren't there?

VANCOUVER — Drug trafficker Peter Sum Li, who according to prosecutors paid out the largest ransom ever in a kidnapping in Canada, is suing his six alleged kidnappers for restitution, general and special damages.

The criminal trial of the six accused began in September and continues before B.C. Supreme Court Justice Barry Davies in Vancouver.

In February 2006, Li, his wife, Jennifer Pan, and his business associate, Xiao Chun Chen, were snatched from a Burnaby apartment by a group of men and held for a month.

Li — who since the kidnapping has been sentenced to 13 years in jail for drug trafficking — and Chen were beaten and tortured with a Taser. All three victims were tied up, had their mouths taped and were wrapped in plastic for 24 hours without food, water or access to bathroom facilities.

During the abduction, more than $1.3 million in cash was paid out. A suitcase containing $495,000 was handed over to a man in a vehicle in Toronto, $400,000 was dropped off in Vancouver and another $450,000 paid out in China. None of the money was ever recovered.

Canadian healthcare killed Natasha Richardson: NEW YORK POST!

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

Well isn't this a Kick in the Slats for Canada, when those in the US who are anti Canadian Healthcare publish Fear Mongering to the Masses.  Point being, Ms. Richardson refuses medical treatment, plain and simple.  If she has listened to those who tries to help her, we would not be having this conversation, because Ms. Richardson would have been alive.

MONTREAL — Some Montreal doctors added a dose of realism Saturday to the fiery debate south of the border that asked if Canada’s “socialized medicine” killed actress Natasha Richardson after she hit her head skiing on Mont Tremblant March 16.

“Canadacare may have killed Natasha,” screamed a headline in the New York Post. “Was Canada’s healthcare the problem?”asked another in the Chicago Tribune.

The implication “is totally unjustified,” said Paul Saba, an emergency room doctor at Lachine Hospital and co-president of the Coalition of Physicians for Social Justice.

He flatly rejected the notion that a lack of funding for overall public health care contributes to fatal head injuries like the one that claimed the life of Richardson, the wife of actor Liam Neeson and the daughter of legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave.

Canadian researchers uncover Chinese Espionage network: Malware

Photos

No footage found.

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
A Global Chinese Government Espionage Network? Holy James Bond!!! And what will be done about it by our Governments?  Nothing! Of course there will be Humble Chinese, we so sorry apologies, rumour and innuendo, perhaps even a gunshot to the back of the head of some government chinese wonk as a show of complacency.

Bottom Line, they are a World Trading Power! They own the USA Treasury Bills, Bonds etc.  Why? Because We allowed it! Why again? Because we are not allowed Manufacturers here in our country to export all their labour to Asia cause we do not have Slave Labour in the West nor do we exact Human Rights abuses against our People. It is called Laws people, something the Nancy West allowed China to become it's No. 1 trading partner in the Pacific Rim to flout laws and our health and safety codes time and time again, all so we as consumers can scramble like Monkeys for those low, low prices and Big Yellow Smiley Faces we all scramble to on weekends for our consumer products.  Think about it! You reap what you sow! And with our Global Economic Meltdown, we obviously Sow (ed) Big Time!

A 10-month investigation by a team of researchers at the University of Toronto uncovered a broad Chinese espionage scheme that reached into foreign embassies, news services and even the office of the Dalai Lama.

The researchers says the system — called GhostNet — sent e-mails that introduced malware into host computers, which in turn fed information back to servers located on the Chinese mainland.

"The GhostNet system directs infected computers to download a Trojan (horse) known as ghOst RAT that allows attackers to gain complete, real-time control," the authors write in Tracking GhostNet: Investigating a Cyber Espionage Network.

"Our investigation reveals that GhostNet is capable of taking full control of infected computers, including searching and downloading specific files, and covertly operating attached devices, including microphones and web cameras."

Alleged gang member wins freedom: Nancyism Alive and Well

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

It is nice to see Immigration & Refugee Board Canada is living up to its Name "Nancy Canada"!  Lets hope Prime Minister Harper acts fast to close "Nancyism" in this country.

Reputed gang member Jackie Tran -- who represented himself against a government lawyer--has won his release from custody.

Immigration and Refugee Board member Geoff Rempel ordered Tran's release Friday afternoon, saying he didn't break conditions imposed on him by federal authorities seeking his deportation to Vietnam.

The decision sparked outrage from authorities, who on Wednesday arrested Tran for allegedly breaching a condition requiring him to live with his mother.

"The Calgary Police Service is extremely disappointed with today's Immigration and Refugee Board's decision to release Jackie Tran.

"Tran is a well-known gang member and the police service believes Tran does pose a risk to the community,"said Acting Staff Sgt. Gord Renke of the targeted enforcement unit, which investigated and arrested Tran.

Vancouver testing measure to force repairs by Slum landlords

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

I think that is a step in the right direction, as long as the City has the balls to allow Landlords to immediately evict those tenants who deal drugs, and damage the landlords property.  Previously Landlords had no help from the city to evict those tenants who continually destroyed the landlords property.

Granted there are slum lords, but many are not, so you have to see both sides of the issue, which many in the DTES protest group rarely do.

Slumlords, beware.

City of Vancouver staff are looking for the worst of the worst Downtown Eastside landlords in an attempt to crack down on those who let their buildings fall into disrepair.

For years, the problem of landlords ignoring city inspector's orders to fix their dilapidated buildings has frustrated city hall, said Coun. Tim Stevenson.

On Thursday, Stevenson put forward a motion to test "a brand new tool" in the city's enforcement repertoire: a court injunction ordering repairs.

"It's only, obviously, relatively few who continue to avoid doing repairs or upgrading their buildings. And we have our inspectors go in and they just rip up the letters that they get," he said.

Now, Stevenson said, the city wants to ask the courts to add some clout to that request. Over the next three months, city staff will identify one landlord on whom to pilot the new approach.

One Downtown Eastside advocate called the motion a "mini-victory", but wishes the city had gone further. "There's skepticism in the community that [an injunction] will work and people would prefer that the city just go in and do the repairs," said the Wendy Pedersen of the Carnegie Community Action Project.

Dad charged for assaulting bully: Internet Assaults at Daughter

Photos

No footage found.

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

You know after multiple meetings with police, school officials, parents, and still the assaults continue, what Dad would not go "Bezerker" on a group of Male teens? This Father did what any Father did, to protect his child, possibibly fearing if this continued his child would commit suicide over being constantly bullying, and now all of the sudden Police act! Against the Father., There is no Justice!

BOWMANVILLE -- Dave Clarke lost it Monday night. But the angry family man now charged with assaulting a 15-year-old pleads guilty with an explanation.

And under the circumstances, what would you have done?

The 45-year-old father of two has been closely following our recent series of stories on bullying. Like hundreds of other readers, these tales have struck a chord because his daughter Heather has been going through months of harassment by a group of kids at Bowmanville High School.

Clarke has been in and out of meetings with the school's administration and even had a sit-down with the police to address his concerns. One of the teens involved has been suspended twice, once for lying in wait for his daughter and whipping a handful of coins at her head.

Do condoms really work?

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Different condoms, for different purposes, bottom line, you get what you pay for!

Pick the wrong condom, and you'll contract something that you'll regret longer than luggage or worse.

A lack of labelling on condoms is giving sexually active Canadians a false sense of security, experts warn.

They want the federal government to require warnings on packages about how often condoms break and leak, leaving people at greater risk of pregnancy and disease.

"There is a huge variation across brands and types of condoms. They report anywhere from 0% failure rate all the way up as high as 30%," says Eleanor Maticka-Tyndale, Canada's research chair in social justice and sexual health.

She said the failure rates of different condoms should be written on their packages.

"So I can pick up the condom and say this one is 5%, this one is 2%," she said.
