Blaming 'the Israel Lobby'

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Well we all know the story, "Money Talks and Bullsh*t Walks". Certainly Obama is having quite the problem in Human Resources staffing trying to find impartial or competent honest staff.

Until quite recently only a few Americans, those with a special interest in Middle East politics, were aware of the existence of Charles W. ("Chas") Freeman Jr., the former U. S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia. But this week he popped up on the front pages of major newspapers as the latest of Baracka Obama's failed appointees, his candidacy typically brief.

On Feb. 19, someone anonymously revealed that Freeman was to chair the National Intelligence Council, which coordinates reports from espionage agencies. Immediately, he became a subject of furious controversy among bloggers. Their views reached politicians, who began expressing doubts about him. The White House decided not to spend political capital defending him, so this week he withdrew his name. Then he issued a bitter denunciation of "the Israel lobby" for libelling him.

He's now only a footnote in Washington political history but the Freeman incident raises interesting issues.

It casts more doubt on the Obama White House's hiring practices and reveals that Israel has some notable enemies within the U. S. government. As a drama performed mainly in the blogosphere, it demonstrates blogging's influence on national politics. And in displaying Freeman's connections, it reminds us never to underestimate Arab influence in Washington.

Canadian Vet offers to Snip the Nuts off Easter Bunnies

Photos

No footage found.

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

With Easter coming around the corner a British Columbian Vet has offered to chase down and "denut" the wild free roaming Little Bunnies, Hippity Hoppity around the University of Victoria.  The Vet hasn't offered an explanation of what he will do with a sack full of "Bunnie Nuts", but stranger things go in British Columbia Kitchens and Bedrooms which are best unanswered.

A series of quick snips could cut down on the University of Victoria's problem rabbit population, says a local veterinarian.

Nick Shaw, owner of Shaw Pet Hospitals, is offering free vasectomies to male bunnies hopping around campus.

Shaw, who has three clinics in Greater Victoria, said he would be willing to pick up most of the costs, provided he and his staff could hold fundraising events to help defray expenses.

"My staff had some wonderful ideas on how to promote it and we could sell buttons and ask for donations to support the program," said Shaw, who added the normal cost for a rabbit vasectomy would be about $100 for an individual and $60 each for a bunch of bunnies.

Shaw first approached the university about a year ago, at the suggestion of lab assistant Tamara Lovegrove, a UVic graduate who was willing to mobilize her student friends to round up the male rabbits.

But Shaw was told there would first have to be a bunny count. "Then they would just never commit to anything," he said.

'Non' to French in the Post, 'No' to Israeli Apartheid Week!

Barry Artiste Op/Ed This story is so wrong on my issues, first of all the French language is part of Canadian Culture, to bar it from having a French Section in the National Post, smacks of anti Canadian Culture and more importantly alienating a market of Canadians who speak French who would buy the National Post. In these dire economic times, to cut off your nose despite you financial face doesn't make sense to a very few who may cancel their subscription because a small section of the paper has a French Language Section. Secondly, banning Muslims from Immigration to Canada in one breath and as you continue to read the story, it indicates actually banning Islamic immigration. It has been said that not all Islamic are Muslim, but all Muslims are Islamic. So this doesn't wash with me. You don’t ban the whole friggin culture on the few who spoil it for the rest of them. There are varying degrees of Muslims who do not subscribe to a lunacy of those who preach death and destruction, just because they do not happen to share the same religion. I as a catholic and many others do not believe in lunatic verses of the holy bible that espouse killing non believers. I have family members who are of the Jewish faith as well, do they really believe all that is written about slaughtering people who are not of the Jewish faith in the Torah. Of course not! You have to take it all with a grain of salt. You have to remember these holy books were never written by the men they talk about, they were written and interpreted and modified by followers centuries after Allah, Moses and Christ’s death. So much of what can be said of the good of Islam, Judaism and Christian ideology we take, the Fancy Silly crazy stuff we can attribute to the ancient scribe and his order as having a different agenda, sort of an artistic license, most likely mandated by the Ruler of that period. What we do know is all three of these religious men did good, followed peace and fellowship, healing and feeding their fellow man, to think they all of a sudden one day as an afterthought said to their followers “Oh and by the Way, Kill all non believers of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.” Do you really, really think they all said that? For instance Mohamed, do you really think he uttered the words, kill a whole bunch of people , including yourself on behalf of Allah and you get to gangbang 70 virgins in paradise. If Mohamed were alive today and listening to this from some Whackjob Imam, I am sure his response would be WTF??? As for Moses, do you really think he was that “Directionally Challenged” and lead thousand of Israelites out of Egypt and take 40 years wandering through the desert to find Israel which was only a few hundred miles away? Can you imagine thousands of Israelites asking all in unison every friggin hour along the way “Are We There Yet?” ,” Moses, Are We There Yet?” Moses…………….. Moses, most likely took the ten commandment tablets, and upsided some whiny ass Israelite over the goddamn head! Jesus for instance, splitting a couple of loaves of bread and a few fish to feed a hundred people to fullness, you really, really think so? Not to mention walking on water. So if you truly believe the above mention actions which had occurred 2 millennia ago, and professed to have happened by ancient scholars centuries long after these three prophets have died, then you need to give your head a BIG SHAKE! I am sure enough of you have seen magicians on TV do even more stupendous feats, imagine if these TV magicians lived in ancient times and did these feats of magic in front of a group of people a thousand years ago? Hell if they even did this a century ago! Holy Tap Dancin Christ, they would be proclaimed as our new Gods!! Faith Healing Tele Evangelists are proof of that today! Now before you wrap your ankles around your ears in protest, I am in no way saying Mohamed, Moses, or Christ were magicians, they existed, and were good men, performing charitable deeds to the masses. All I am saying is people believe what they want to believe, hence seeing a magician perform a magic act to the uninitiated seems miraculous when is not a miracle, it is only magic. Watch Monty Python’s Life of Brian, they pretty much hit the nail on the head! All in all these three wise religious men preached Faith! Well, Faith also includes Faith in yourself and to do good and not follow false prophets! As for the Holocaust, people still refuse to believe it happened, it was that horrific, but then for some reason people still think Elvis is alive and well and living in the South. Certainly a Historic hypocrisy. As I have always said before time and time again, keep your religion and culture, just do not try and impose it in your new country as law. Live a life as the Romans once stated, when in Rome, you are Roman, no ifs, ands, or buts! Otherwise leave the West and take your cultural protests and religious battles to the land where they began! PLO Chairman Yassar Arafat, said it best , decades ago when he was talking to the Israeli Prime Minister, and Jimmy Carter. Arafat stated seriously and matter of factly, “The war in the middle east is to prove who has the most powerful imaginary friend!” http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fullcomment/archive/2009/03/14/paul-russell-non-to-french-in-the-post.aspx Paul Russell: 'Non' to French in the Post, 'No' to Israeli Apartheid Week, 'Yes' to selective immigration Posted: March 14, 2009, 12:05 PM by Paul Russell Paul Russell Should the Post publish some articles en francais? Last week in this column a reader made that suggestion. As he noted, “This isn’t 1975 anymore, and many of us have some French ability.” Almost a dozen readers responded to his suggestion; only one agreed. The others not only gave the thumbs down, but a few promised drastic action, should this French language page come to pass. “If the National Post were to pander to les Québécois and publish a French page, I would not only cancel my subscription, I would campaign strenuously to have others cancel as well,” wrote Gerry Porter. “I love my Post, but I do have my principles.” “If the day ever comes that you choose to succumb to the wishes of a few French whiners and actually include a French section of your fine national paper, you can expect to get my letter cancelling my subscription,” added Dale Chilton. “Sorry, but I do not have the time to express my disgust with the part of Canada that has fractured us with their pseudo-complaints about the way TROC (The Rest of Canada) has treated them.” Another reader suggested the original letter writer should be the one making the changes. “The first thing he should do is to turn on the TV and be assailed by the publicly funded French channels,” wrote Peter Morgan. “The second [step], and the one I hope he takes, is to go to Quebec and stay there where he can practise whenever he wants.” -- Last week I explained why the Post would not publish letters that recommend that members of a certain religion be barred from immigrating to Canada. My reasoning failed to win over some readers.

It's High Time - Tea Party Update - Revolution is Brewing

Tea Party update: Revolution is brewing - Its High Time - Bring your T-Shirt

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 12, 2009 11:39 PM

Eric Odom reports that there are now 115 cities signed up for the April 15 nationwide Tax Day Tea Party protest. Wow. If you haven’t signed up, want to start your own, and are looking to meet up and organize with other tax revolters, go to Tax Day Tea Party’s website here.

Here’s a quick how-to guide.

#dontgo has opened up a Tax Day Tea Party store. Buy some swag, share with friends, spread the word.

Stay tuned to the Fresh Tea blog, where you can meet organizers from across the country. Check in with TCOT Report and Smart Girl Politics for more grass-roots organizing.

(On a parallel track, fellow Fox News colleague Glenn Beck has spearheaded “We Surround Them” parties scheduled across the country today. I’m hearing from lots of first-time activists who have found overlapping networks. The same principles that unite the “We Surround Them” effort also are in sync with the tax revolters. Synergy is good. We need every body and mind in motion we can get.)

In the meantime, other local Tea Party events keep rolling on.

Please read the wider article to partisipate in a Tea Party Near You.

DeMint Statement on DNC's Negative Ads in South Carolina

DeMint Statement on DNC's Negative Ads in South Carolina

Columbia, S.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) made the following statement in response to the Democratic National Committee's decision to inundate SC airwaves with negative ads attacking our Governor Mark Sanford.

"After years of losing elections here, the DNC should know better than anyone that spending lots of money to try and brainwash SC voters with misleading ads will not work.  South Carolinians are worried about the economy and their jobs but they have little faith in Nancy Pelosi's desire to spend our way back to economic success.  Instead of wasting George Soros' fortune bashing conservatives like Mark Sanford who are right to question further deficit spending, maybe the DNC should focus on some other state where they have more friends."

South Carlolina Governor Mark Sanford is being attacked by the democratic National Committee (DNC) because he wishes to use the 700 Million dollars his state has received from the Stimulus package to pay down the states debt rather then develop beurocratic agenies to spend the money that has been alleacted for programs that will be funded for two years.

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Governor Mark Sanford will be getting a little more airtime on South Carolina's cable television networks next week, but the media attention won't necessarily be positive.

The Democratic National Committee will begin airing an ad criticizing Sanford for not accepting all of the funds allocated for South Carolina under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The 30-second ad will begin airing on Monday on cable television in Columbia.

The ad says Sanford is "playing politics instead of doing what's right." Earlier this week, Sanford denied he was rejecting the money for political reasons.

Abductors holding a Canadian nurse and two other employees of the Belgian branch of Médecins Sans Frontières in Sudan's Darfur region are demanding a ransom, according to Sudanese media.

No further details were available. The general director of the Canadian arm of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) told reporters that Laura Archer, a nurse who was living in Montreal before leaving for Darfur, was one of those abducted.

Marilyn McHarg, speaking at a Thursday news conference in Toronto, said the abduction was "very much unexpected." "There has not been an abduction like this in Darfur before," she said. Mauro D'Ascanio, an Italian doctor, and Raphaël Meunier, a French field co-ordinator were also abducted, Médecins Sans Frontières said in a statement.

Two Sudanese employees were also taken but were soon released, the group said.

Midlife crisis: My husband is gay

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

When Clues are left, sometimes the Clueless just Clue in to what they want to.

My husband of 19 years sat across from me in our bedroom, holding both my hands in his. The kids were in bed; he had put on soft music and poured us a glass of wine. Things were looking good - I was getting my hopes up. Instinctively I knew we were in that place that would be forever known as "before" and "after." For two years now, our marriage had been unravelling, and it looked like tonight was going to be the night when I would find out what demons we were dealing with and we could start the process of healing.

"You're going to have to be strong," he began, and I eagerly hung on his words, knowing I would be anything he needed me to be to get our relationship back on track and our marriage back to what it used to be.

He was my best friend. John and I had begun dating almost 21 years earlier and after that first evening together, I knew I was going to marry him. Our courtship consisted of hours together talking, going for walks, and planning our future together.

We married in May 1981 and shared almost all of our non-working moments together. We rarely missed having breakfast together at the beginning of each day, and never went to bed without the other at the end of it.

Israel Bad, Iran Good! We are just Hunting folk:Iran

Barry Artiste Op/Ed /Satire
That's unpossible, Iran would never do something as vicious as this, it must be a US CIA. Starbucks, and World Jewish Conspiracy to slander Iran who deny time and time again, they are just friendly folk who enjoy backyard BBQs, do a bit a hunting in their neighbors backyard, I mean come on with the discovery of "Super Animals" such as Flying Squirrels, and Bunnies with Razor sharp teeth, Iran and their Hunting buddies needs Armour piercing bullets , cause if you ever turn your back for even a second, vicious Bunnies will tear you apart in the forest. As for the Ships in which US and Israeli warships discovered Explosives bound for Syria and Lebanon. Come on Guys, who of you have never fished with high explosives?

Of course the missles can be explained as well... "Fireworks celebrations"! Chinese made Fireworks are so expensive, and since Missles give a better bang for your buck why not use em!  All in all Israels picking on Good Ole Boy Iranians is grossly unfair, Iranians just want to let off some steam, and jump into the pickup truck and tour around the city picking up suicide bombers, eerrrrrrrrr I mean picking up babes for Beer Bashes.

You know Iranians enjoy nothing more than regular High school shenanigans. Nothing wrong with that according to commentors who think Israel is the mighty satan.

Yep, that's how I see it! A big Jewish conspiracy. For Shame Israel for being such Tricksters! I'm Tellin!!  Israel is just anti hunting and anti fishing for us Sportsmen.

National Post editorial board:

3,000 more reasons Iran can't be trusted

Posted: March 12, 2009, 8:30 AM by NP Editor

When even the United Nations is prepared to scold a thuggish Third World regime, you know that government must have done something terribly wrong (or at least something so obvious that the New York-based international debating society can’t possibly make excuses for it).

On Tuesday, the UN Security Council sanctions-monitoring committee rebuked Iran for trying to smuggle a vast shipload of arms to Syria in violation of at least five UN resolutions.

The discovery of over 3,000 cases of high explosives, large-bore armour-piercing shells and anti-tank propellant proves Iran has no intention of ceasing its arms shipments to terror groups such as Hezbollah, using Syria as a conduit.

Nor can it be trusted to honour its international agreements to forgo acquiring nuclear arms.

Judge gives Iraqi shoe thrower 3 years in prison

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Three Years??? Ya gotta be kidding me, the man only did what so many of us dreamed of doing to our elected officials!  Course he missed, but still, imagine if he was a size 12 instead of a size 9, it would be a different story.
Bush would have been sucking heel leather.

BAGHDAD - A Baghdad court sentenced an Iraqi reporter who hurled his shoes at former U.S. president George W. Bush to three years in prison on Thursday.

Muntazer al-Zaidi worked for Al-Baghdadiya television, and earned instant worldwide fame when he threw his shoes at Bush at a news conference in December, calling him a dog.

Ban Bush from Canada for war crimes: lawyers

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Yeah, like that is gonna happen, though funny with the 6 al-Qaeda Terrorists we currently have on trial in Canada, who immigrated here, you would think Lawyers such as this group would demand the same, but Mums the Words from these DickWads!

A lawyers’ group has asked the RCMP to bar former U.S. president George W. Bush from entering Canada, citing torture and war crimes committed in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

In a letter to the RCMP war crimes section and copied to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and other federal ministers and opposition MPs, the Lawyers Against the War group claims that Bush is “inadmissible to Canada . . . because of overwhelming evidence that he has committed, outside Canada, torture and other offences” as detailed in Canada’s War Crimes Act.

Poop on flying fruit earns dubious honour

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

And yet the Artsy Fartsy Set in Canada, screamed their little Coulettes off when Prime Minister Stephen Harper cut funding to the Arts!  One wonders if his cuts were the kindest cuts of all.

It's a bird. It's a plane. No wait, it's an $80,000 flying banana.

It's also the big winner at this year's annual Teddy Awards, a spoof prize given out by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation for the worst examples of government waste.

The artists behind the "Geostationary Banana Project" squeezed some $80,000 taxpayer dollars out of the Canada Council for the Arts to attempt to float the giant inflatable fruit over Texas. The project has yet to get off the ground.

The banana, and $15,000 spent to bring a Belgian "poop machine" to Canada for a display, helped earn the council the Federal Teddy for waste.

1. Kung Fu Fighting! (Carl Douglas 1974)
2. Stand by your Man! (1960s Tammy Wynette)
3. Beat me, Shake me, anyway you want me! (1960s, The American Breed)
4. I'm a Loser (Beatles 1965)
5. Black and Blue (1980s Whitesnake)
6. What's love got to do with it (1980s Tina Turner)

8. I shot my Baby ( 1970s Neil Young)
9.Only Women Bleed (1976 Alice Cooper)
10. The Bitch is Back (1974 Elton John )

Course, who knows, they may come up with their own song along the lines of Rhiannas Future Wake!

Chris Brown's Rihanna duet

Rihanna and Chris Brown are reportedly working on a new song together, which will be featured on Chris' upcoming album.

(BANG) -

Rihanna and Chris Brown are recording a duet.

The couple - who have reconciled after Chris allegedly assaulted Rihanna in his rented Lamborghini car last month - are said to be working on a song for Chris' new album, which is due out later this year.

A source said: "They've been working on it together."

The pair are believed to be recording with producer Polow Da Don - who wrote the Pussycat Dolls hit 'Buttons' - in a Santa Monica studio.

Neither Chris nor Rihanna's representatives have commented on the claims.

Last week, Chris was charged with two felonies - assault and making criminal threats - in relation to the alleged attack on Rihanna.

Arab women stand up

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Well Ladies, good luck with that, as sometimes women can be their own worst enemy. One side is against Sharia, while another group sees nothing wrong with it. Since Sharia is traditionally governed by men, one doesn't need to wonder why women in these countries allow it, but do! Boggles the mind in this day and age countries still treat women like breeding stock, and some women actually allow it. Hence why women can be their own worst enemy.

Arab women stand upThe Ottawa CitizenMarch 9, 2009Comments (1) showTab("text/html"); function resizeImage() { var imgBox = document.getElementById('imageBox'); var photo = document.getElementById('storyphoto'); if (imgBox != null && photo != null) { if(photo.width >= 460) { imgBox.className = 'imagesize460'; } else { if(photo.width >= 300) { imgBox.className = 'imagesize310'; } else { imgBox.className = 'imageboxpadding'; } imgBox.style.width = photo.width + 'px'; } } } function getStoryFontSize() { var storyfontsize = getCookie('storyfontsize'); var storyfontimage = getCookie('storyfontimage'); // use cookied value, if present if (storyfontsize != null) { setClass('story_content',storyfontsize); if (storyfontimage != null) { setClass('fontsizecontainer',storyfontimage); } } else // default it to para14 if no cookie { setClass('story_content','para14'); setClass('fontsizecontainer','size02'); } } function setStoryFontSize(storyfontsize,storyfontimage) { setClass('story_content',storyfontsize); setClass('fontsizecontainer',storyfontimage); setCookie('storyfontsize', storyfontsize, '365', '/', '', ''); setCookie('storyfontimage', storyfontimage, '365', '/', '', ''); } function setCookie( name, value, expires, path, domain, secure ) { // set time var today = new Date(); today.setTime( today.getTime() ); if ( expires ) { expires = expires * 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24; //days } var expires_date = new Date( today.getTime() + (expires) ); document.cookie = name + "=" + escape( value ) + ( ( expires ) ? The women of the Arab world are fighting for their right to be treated as full citizens in their own countries. It's not an easy fight, but it is winnable. There have been reforms in Morocco, Egypt and Algeria, and it looks like change is on the horizon in Lebanon.

Democratic reform in the region is in the interest of the whole world, but it is the women who feel its absence most keenly. Indeed, as Canada's own experience shows, change is most likely to happen when women demand it for themselves.

It wasn't long ago that aboriginal women in Canada fought the discriminatory policies in the old Indian Act, and won. Before 1985, an Indian woman who married a non-Indian man lost her status, and so did her children. Indian men, though, could keep their status no matter whom they married, and could even confer their status to their non-aboriginal wives. It was the bureaucratization of the idea that when a woman marries, her identity -- almost her very DNA -- is subsumed in that of her husband's.

Octomom may get new $565,000 home

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
One wonders if Octomom will let her mother live with her, since her mom's soon to be homeless?

WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) — Southern California’s octuplets mother may be moving to a new home and getting help to raise her brood.

Nadya Suleman’s father Ed Doud is purchasing a $564,900 house in the city of La Habra in a deal is expected to close Friday, said Prudential Realty listing agent Mike Patel.

In a related development, television’s Dr. Phil McGraw said Monday that Suleman will accept a volunteer group’s offer of nursing care for her children.

Suleman has been living in a Whittier home that is owned by her mother. But that property is being foreclosed on because her mother is more than $20,000 behind in mortgage payments. Doud is divorced from her mother.

Ford tells feds cash better used on buyers

Barry Artiste Op Ed

You know, Ford for decades has always trailed GM and Chrysler in terms of sales, but in the recent Bailout of the Big Three, it looks like Ford is #1 when putting Consumers as #1 where as GM and Chrysler go Wheelbarrow to the Government and Taxpayers to bail their sorry asses out!
Ford is truly #1 in my book.
Ford tells feds cash better used on buyers
By PETER ZIMONJIC, NATIONAL BUREAU

Ford Canada has changed itself into a leaner and greener machine that won't need auto bailout money from the feds, Ford's president said. "Long before the current global economic crisis,

Ford recognized that its business model needed to be changed," David Mondragon, president and CEO of Ford Canada, told a House of Commons committee last night.

"During the past several years Ford has taken steps to put the company on a path to long-term viability." Mondragon said the government could boost auto sales in Canada by introducing a $3,500 "scrappage" credit or rebate for cars over 10 years old if owners buy a new car. He also said sales would improve if more credit was made available to buyers and dealers struggling to finance inventory.

The attitude is a stark contrast to the billions in government loans being sought by General Motors of Canada and Chrysler Canada.

Canada could've saved her marriage: Duchess of York Says

Canada could've saved her marriage: Duchess of York

If only the Duchess and Duke of York had moved to the Great White North, their shaky marriage might have been saved, Sarah Ferguson says.
 09/03/2009 6:00:53 PM
CBC News

The former member of the Royal Family told CBC News there had been talk of her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, taking the largely symbolic job as Governor General, the Queen's representative in Canada. "We could have been Governor of Canada living in Ottawa in the Government House," Ferguson said in an interview about co-producing the recently released film The Young Victoria. "It would have kept us together and we would probably be together now." There was talk in the nation's capital soon after Ferguson's 1986 wedding to Prince Andrew that the couple could become royal representatives, but nothing was ever confirmed.

Ferguson, known commonly as Fergie, and Prince Andrew separated six years after their wedding and divorced in 1996. They had two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. What it was about Canada that held the promise of marital bliss is uncertain, but Ferguson mused that the prince might not have been as preoccupied with his military career.

You know what really, really amazes me?  That our government both Provincial and Federal can pass laws almost immediately in the case of Banning Trans Fat in Restaurants, yet for some reason Banning Gangs and implementing Serious Time for Serious Crimes takes close to a decade.  One wonder if both the Provincial and Federal Governmnts have their priorities straight, when it is guaranteed and Restaurant caught with an ounce of Trans Fat in their food automatically gets a fine and a conviction, yet Gang Affiliation and Crime, gets a Nudge, Nudge, Wink, Wink!

Someone, somewhere must have an answer to this poser!

Food outlets such as restaurants and cafeterias could face fines if they don't comply with the province's plan to restrict artery-clogging trans fats by this fall.

Mary Polak, Minister of Healthy Living Sport, announced Saturday that B.C. will be the first province to restrict trans fat in the country. Under the new rules, oils and products used to prepare food must not contain more than five per cent trans fats, while margarines must contain less than two per cent trans fats.

Food inspectors will ensure compliance by checking trans-fat levels in food ingredients.

All establishments that require a permit to operate a food service in B.C. must comply with the new regulation by Sept. 30

Gang fight calls for united front
Times Colonist
March 8, 2009 3:07 AM

Neither is there a co-ordinated strategy to take down the gangs. Two years ago Vancouver's retired chief of police, Bob Stewart, wrote a blistering critique entitled Police 2007: The Buck Stops Nowhere. While noting his family's tradition of police service, Stewart lambasted law enforcement agencies for their "lack of professionalism, sound management or even simple common sense." He pointed out that Vancouver is the only major city in Canada without a metropolitan police force.

Counting municipal detachments and RCMP units, there are 16 police jurisdictions in the Lower Mainland. Worse still, RCMP troops answer to national headquarters in Ottawa, while municipal officers report to local police boards. That means there is no unified command structure on the ground.

We saw an example of that last month, when B.C. Attorney General Wally Oppal met with his federal counterpart to sketch out a campaign. The meeting was a bust. Oppal wanted changes in the Criminal Code. He says the current legislation makes it unduly difficult to prosecute gangland crime.

Vital means of surveillance, like wiretapping, are hindered by the code, and bail conditions are far too easy. But when Oppal asked for assistance, his request fell on deaf ears. The Criminal Code is Ottawa's responsibility, and the federal government has its own priorities. Working with the provinces doesn't appear to be one of them.

Below is an excerpt on a new concept called Life without Lawyers and the Death of Common Sense.
A must read for those just F**king Fed Up with Legal Stupidity in North America!  Since the majority of Politicans in both our countries are lawyers, perhaps its time we elected Politicians based on Common Sense instead!

Life Without Lawyers: Liberating Americans From Too Much Law
By Philip K. Howard

The Gist: Bernie Madoff and Co. have, for the moment, dislodged attorneys from the doghouse of public opinion. But a world without tort claims and padded billing would still be many people's idea of heaven. Howard, an attorney and author of the best-selling book

The Death of Common Sense, chronicles a society in which rules have run amok and litigation looms as a constant threat. Among his egregious examples: a Florida teacher wary of restraining a hysterical child gets the cops to slap handcuffs on the kid instead; a New York City high school prohibits nurses from calling ambulances without the principal's permission; a town slide in Oklahoma is dismantled for liability concerns. "To restore our freedom, we have to purge law from most daily activities," writes Howard. But this seething polemic is less about a society buried in paperwork than one that clings to procedure like a crutch — and has lost its capacity for independent thought in the process.

U.S. foreclosure scams on the rise

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

As many people are stuck between a Rock and a Hard Place in this economic meltdown, it's "Par for the Course"  Scam Artists are alive and well in any economy, and are quite adept at parting the desperate from their money, even if that money is only fictitously only on paper!

U.S. foreclosure scams on the rise

Amid the continuing American housing meltdown, officials are seeing an 'extraordinary' surge in foreclosure 'rescue' rip-offs.

By Carolyn SalazarMarch 07, 2009

When Aleem Morris lost his job as a forklift operator several years ago, his life began to fall apart.

He fell behind on loan payments. His car was repossessed. And then, after his debt ballooned to $118,000, the Newark, N.J., house that had been in his family for 24 years went into foreclosure.

Just as things seemed most desperate, a flier arrived in the mail offering help. "Are you behind in your mortgage payments, and facing foreclosure of your property?" it asked.

It gave Morris hope, promising to shore up his credit and save his home. But months later, his two-story, vinyl-sided home had been stripped of about $127,000 in equity, he was still in debt, and the house was back in foreclosure.

"I had been conned," he said.

Zahi Hawaas, head of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, announced in a statement Thursday that the statues were found while an excavation team was clearing out the pharaoh's mortuary, near modern Luxor .

Hawaas said one statue was carved from black granite and shows the pharaoh in a seated position.

The other, carved from quartzite, depicts the pharaoh as a sphinx, the mythological creature with a human head and the body of a lion.

Amenhotep III, who ruled for about 40 years during the 14th century BC, left more images of himself than any other pharaoh.

Beheading victim's mom vows to fight killer's release

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

A Winnipeg Judge today will rule whether Murderer Vince Li who beheading a young bus passenger and proceeded to eat him will be held criminally responsible for his actions.  If found not guilty, which many feel this judge will rule, will see Vince Li be sent to a hospital for treatment and possibily out on parole and back on our streets in 10 years if treatment is successful.  Though it is rare this guy will ever be released back into the public, the letter of the law may say otherwise.  The mother of the beheading victim vows to her last breath to ensure this never happens.

WINNIPEG — Carol deDelley is prepared to watch her son's killer walk out of court Thursday headed for a hospital, not a prison cell. But the grieving mother is vowing to do everything possible to make sure Vincent Li never tastes freedom again.

"I am absolutely terrified of him and his capabilities. I think he'd do it again," deDelley said Wednesday after hearing a second straight day of disturbing court testimony.

Li's fate is now in the hands of Queen's Bench Justice John Scurfield, who has reserved his decision until 10 a.m. Thursday local time.

Sympathizer of Terror Groups was Liberal Immigration Board Member

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Well don't that beat all, the Liberals under Liberal Prime Ministers Jean Chretien and Paul Martin was a Liberal appointee to the Immigration Board of Canada, certainly explains a lot don't you think, when appointees to the Immigration Board are the ones who allow immigrants into this country, even the Terrorist ones they sympathize with.  Guess the Conservative Government under Prime Minister Stephen Harper should be doing a clean sweep of the Canadian Immigration Board and put people in there who are not biased against other immigrants and do not favour the Terrorists.

It's well known that Khaled Mouammar wants Ottawa to remove Hamas and Hezbollah from a list of banned organizations and replace them with the Israel Defence Forces.

It's well known that the president of the Canadian Arab Federation recently called Jason Kenney, the Minister of Immigration, a "professional whore" for supporting Israel and criticizing the presence of Hamas and Hezbollah flags at a recent protest, prompting Mr. Kenney to say he would review the CAF's federal funding.

But it is less well known that Mr. Mouammar spent the 11 years prior to February, 2005, sitting as a member of the Immigration and Refugee Board, deciding whether refugee claimants from such North African countries as Morocco, Egypt, Algeria and Somalia should be allowed to stay in Canada.

Kenyan gang protests over police death squads

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

I put it this way, there would be now Police Death Squads, if these Murderous Gangs who are protesting the Police Gangs exisitance by routinely beheading innocent people now would there?  Sort of weird Criminals protesting Police are trying to kill them, but it is all right for these Criminals to do the killing.  I say eradicate em.  But then I don't live in Wacko ville Africa either.

NAIROBI, Kenya - A police official says a Kenyan gang known for beheading people has blocked roads and burned shops in the capital to protest the alleged existence of police death squads.

About 70 per cent of the minibuses - called matatus - used by Kenyan commuters are off the roads because of the protest.

Canadian Arab Federation calls our Government "Whores" !!

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

"Ouch"!!! That's gotta Hurt! You know they say "Sticks and Stones will break your Bones", but calling the Government "Whores", especially the same Government Ministry which previously gave you close to $500,000.00 every year in Canadian Taxpayers Multicultural and Diversity Funds, certainly shows someone ain't particularly Bright in the Haid! Over to you Skeeter!

Course one would think a group like the Canadian Arab Federation, or the CAF who are always quick to use the Canadian Human Rights Commission as their Bestest Pal when they scream discrimination against anyone who looks sideways at them, whether imagined or not.

So in ending it certainly seems appropriate for our Canadian Conservative Government to take the CAF to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal for calling them Whores! But the Canadian Government just lets the Whore Label slide off their backs, as they figure the best way for the CAF to learn is to cut off all Taxpayer Funding to their Organization, as the Government must feel the CAF at times are their worst enemy.

Guess "Revenge is Best served Cold"  as the CAF employees will certainly be shocked to see them Lucrative Taxpayer Funded Paycheques they counted on, have now disappeared faster than a Hooker in mid Payday!

I do however Wholeheartedly Agree with the CAF that Freedon of Speech is Paramount, just as I Wholeheartedly agree that Government has a right to immediately Stop all Funding, when they feel an Organization does not appear to have Taxpayers best interests at Heart!

Say what you want - just don't expect taxpayers to pay
MARGARET WENTE
Saturday's Globe and Mail
February 28, 2009 at 12:00 AM EST

It's never smart to call a federal cabinet minister a "whore" - not when you depend on him for money. But Khaled Mouammar, president of the Canadian Arab Federation, is a fearless man. At a recent anti-Israel rally, he referred to Immigration Minister Jason Kenney as a "professional whore" for supporting Israel.

He called Stephen Harper and Michael Ignatieff professional whores, too. A couple of years ago, when five children from Montreal were killed in the Lebanon war, he said Mr. Harper was "complicit in their killing." At the Liberal convention at which Bob Rae ran for leader, he circulated a letter accusing Mr. Rae of being a racist Zionist, and pointing out that his wife is a Jew.

Last week, Mr. Kenney bit back. He asked his bureaucrats to yank the CAF's $447,000 grant. "They can say what they want within the parameters of our laws, but they shouldn't expect a priori funding." Now the CAF is accusing Mr. Kenney of trying to stifle its right to democratic speech. According to executive director Mohamed Boudjenane, the government's real motive for punishing the CAF is most likely political. "They maybe decided to go after the Zionist vote, like Reisman and Schwartz and Tannenbaum - people who used to be Liberal."

The Conservative government continued its law-and-order blitz Friday by reintroducing tougher penalties for drug offences.

The changes came a day after Ottawa announced Criminal Code amendments aimed at gang violence.

But a veteran defence lawyer gave the government's lock 'em up strategy a failing grade, saying it doesn't get at the roots of gangsterism -- alienated young people and widespread demand for illegal drugs.

Vancouver to decide what to do about three-time grow-op

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Having been to Drug Labs doing Investigations, my partner at the time swore he had been to this house before, sure enough when we went back to our Lab a quick scan of our records showed this Meth Lab in Surrey was busted the year before.  The landlord professed innocence that he didn't know what was going on, with this new tenant.
I have a cure for all this, how about a Bulldozer, that would end this from ever happening again.

The City of Vancouver will this week decide what to do about a home that's housed a grow-op not once, but three times.

No-one answers the door at 729 East 58th Avenue, and there are signs no one's been around for a while.

Neighbour Michael Glynn remembers one day last fall when the house wasn't so quiet.

"It was about 10 o'clock in the morning, I heard some pretty loud voices, hearing you know police! Police!" said Glynn.

"They were banging, going one-two-three! Smashed it open ... they went in there, they had assault rifles."

Police have found a marijuana grow-op at this home three times in the last eight years.

Canada's new haves and have-nots

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

And it begins, when the "Have Nots Rebel Violently against the Haves" regardless if the "Haves" worked hard for their Status in Life, they will all be painted with the same Lighted Torch, reminiscent of the Paris Citizens Rebellion of King Louis' time.  Let em eat Cake, Off with their Heads, seems to be the Catchword in this Global Economic Meltdown.

Envy flourishes in hard times, and there is already considerable evidence that a healthy crop of the green stuff is developing as world economies plumb ever-lower depths. U. S. Senator John Kerry this week vowed to introduce legislation to punish bankers who entertain clients in a manner he considers too lavish, even if the bank is healthy and profitable. Vandals in Germany have taken to torching luxury vehicles, just because they represent wealth.

Canadian shells didn't kill Afghan kids: Military

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Canadian shells didn't kill Afghan kids: Military
By The Canadian Press

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — Military investigators in Afghanistan have determined the deadly blast that killed three Afghan children was caused by old munitions, not explosives belonging to Canadians.

The results of the investigation were announced to Afghan media in Kandahar today — one week after the tragedy.

Kandahar governor Tooryalai Wesa and the new commander of Canadian troops, Brig.-Gen. Jon Vance, held a roundtable with local journalists and took questions about the incident.

They did not get into details of the investigation, nor offer any evidence to back up the statement.

Rush Limbaugh Speech at CPAC Transcript

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you all very, very much. Thank you all. I can't tell you how wonderful that makes me feel. It happens everywhere I go, but it's still special here. [ Laughter ] If you all will indulge me, I learned something, I guess, it's early Friday morning that I didn't know. Friday morning is when I learned this. I learned that Fox, God love them, is televising this speech on the Fox News Channel, which means, ladies and gentleman, this is my first ever address to the nation. [Applause]

Now, I have someone in back taking phone numbers. In fact, I would like to introduce to you my security chief, a man who runs all of my security. His name is Joseph Stalin. Joseph, would you please -- [Laughter ] I am safe from any liberal attack, in public, because they would be afraid of offending Stalin. [Laughter] Now the opportunity here to address the nation, a serious one, it really is. And I want to take it seriously. I want to address something. I know that people are probably watching this who never have listened to my program and may not even really know what conservatism is. They think they do based on how they've been told -- the way we've been impugned and maligned and so forth. One of the things that is totally erroneous about me -- and I just want to get this up front -- is that I'm pompous. [Laughter]

And that I am arrogant. Neither of these things are remotely true. I can tell you a joke to illustrate this. Larry King passed away, goes to heaven. He's greeted by Saint Peter at the gates. Saint Peter says, "Welcome, Mr. King, it's great to have you here. I want to show you around, give you an idea of what's here, maybe you can pick a place that you'd like to reside."  King says, "I just have one question:  Is Rush Limbaugh here?"

"No, he's got a lot of time yet, Mr. King."  So Saint Peter begins the tour. Larry King sees the various places and it's beyond anything we can imagine in terms of beauty. Finally, he gets to the biggest room of all, with this giant throne. And over the throne is a flashing beautiful angelic neon sign that says "Rush Limbaugh." [Laughter]

And Larry King looks at Saint Peter and says: "I thought you said he wasn't here."

"He said, he's not, he's not. This is God's room. He just thinks he's Rush Limbaugh."[Laughter] [Applause]

So you see I'm not pompous. [Laughter]

Now, seriously, for those of you watching on C-SPAN as well, and on Fox, I want to tell you who we all are in this room. I want to tell you who conservatives are. We conservatives have not done a good enough job of just laying out basically who we are because we make the mistake of assuming people know. What they know is largely incorrect based on the way we are portrayed in pop culture, in the Drive-By Media, by the Democrat Party.

Let me tell you who we conservatives are:  We love people. [Applause] When we look out over the United States of America, when we are anywhere, when we see a group of people, such as this or anywhere, we see Americans. We see human beings. We don't see groups. We don't see victims. We don't see people we want to exploit. What we see -- what we see is potential. We do not look out across the country and see the average American, the person that makes this country work. We do not see that person with contempt. We don't think that person doesn't have what it takes. We believe that person can be the best he or she wants to be if certain things are just removed from their path like onerous taxes, regulations and too much government. [Applause]

We want every American to be the best he or she chooses to be. We recognize that we are all individuals. We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. [Applause] We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life. [Applause] Liberty, Freedom. [Applause] And the pursuit of happiness. [Applause] Those of you watching at home may wonder why this is being applauded. We conservatives think all three are under assault. [Applause] Thank you. Thank you.

We don't want to tell anybody how to live. That's up to you. If you want to make the best of yourself, feel free. If you want to ruin your life, we'll try to stop it, but it's a waste. We look over the country as it is today, we see so much waste, human potential that's been destroyed by 50 years of a welfare state. By a failed war on poverty. [Applause]

We love the people of this country. And we want this to be the greatest country it can be, but we do understand, as people created and endowed by our creator, we're all individuals. We resist the effort to group us. We resist the effort to make us feel that we're all the same, that we're no different than anybody else. We're all different. There are no two things or people in this world who are created in a way that they end up with equal outcomes. That's up to them. They are created equal, given the chance - -[Applause]

We don't hate anybody. We don't -- I mean, the racism in this country, if you ask me, I know many people in this audience -- let me deal with this head on. You know what the cliche is, a conservative: racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe. Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen of America, if you were paying attention, I know you were, the racism in our culture was exclusively and fully on display in the Democrat primary last year. [Applause]

It was not us asking whether Barack Obama was authentic. What we were asking is:  Is he wrong?  We concluded, yes. We still think so. But we didn't ask if he was authentically black. We didn't say, as some Southern Christian Leadership Conference leaders said:  Barack is not authentic, he's not got any slave blood. He's really not down for the struggle, but his wife is. So don't expect the race industry to go away. Southern Christian Leadership Conference -- you may not know this, because it wasn't reported in the Drive-By Media -- the racism, the sexism, the bigotry that we're all charged with, just so you across the United States of America know, and you'll see demonstrated here as the afternoon goes on, doesn't exist on our side. We want everybody to succeed. [Applause]

You know why?  We want the country to succeed, and for the country to succeed, its people -- its individuals -- must succeed. Everyone among us must be pursuing his ambition or her desire, whatever, with excellence. Trying to be the best they can be. Not told, as they are told by the Democrat Party:  You really can't do that, you don't have what it takes, besides you're a minority or you're a woman and there are too many people that want to discriminate against you. You can't get anywhere. You need to depend on us.

Well. Take a look, someone has to say this -- I am thrilled for the opportunity to say it in my first national address to the nation -- and I'm going to touch on this in more detail in a moment, but this is just to get you thinking -- take a look at all the constituency groups that for 50 years have been depending on the Democrat Party to improve their lives. And you tell me if you find any. They're still complaining, still griping about the same problems. Their problems don't get fixed by government. And those lives have been poisoned. Those lives have been cut short by false promises, from government representatives who said don't worry about it, we'll take care of you. Just vote for us. [Applause]

For those of you just tuning in on the Fox News Channel or C-SPAN, I'm Rush Limbaugh and I want everyone in this room and every one of you around the country to succeed. I want anyone who believes in life, liberty, pursuit of happiness to succeed. And I want any force, any person, any element of an overarching Big Government that would stop your success, I want that organization, that element or that person to fail. I want you to succeed. [Applause] Also, for those of you in the Drive-By Media watching, I have not needed a teleprompter for anything I've said. [Cheers and Applause ]  And nor do any of us need a teleprompter, because our beliefs are not the result of calculations and contrivances. Our beliefs are not the result of a deranged psychology. Our beliefs are our core. Our beliefs are our hearts. We don't have to make notes about what we believe. We don't have to write down, oh do I believe it do I believe that we can tell people what we believe off the top of our heads and we can do it with passion and we can do it with clarity, and we can do it persuasively. Some of us just haven't had the inspiration or motivation to do so in a number of years, but that's about to change. [Cheers and Applause]

For example, we gather here -- I understand that. I talked to David and Lisa in the super exclusive private green room that nobody, but about 55 people were allowed into, and they said that there's a sense of liberation here among all of you that are attending CPAC. I understand what the sense of liberation is about. But don't make the mistake at the same time of feeling liberated as thinking we're better and we can do better as a minority. Because we're not a minority. And if you start thinking of yourselves as a minority, you're going to be defensive. And you'll allow the majority to set the agenda and the premise and you're responding to it. The American people may not all vote the way we wish them to, but more Americans than you now live their lives as conservatives in one degree or another. And they are waiting for leadership. We need conservative leadership. We can take this country back. All we need is to nominate the right candidate. It's no more complicated than that. [Applause]

Now, let me speak about President Obama for just a second. President Obama is one of the most gifted politicians, one of the most gifted men that I have ever witnessed. He has extraordinary talents. He has communication skills that hardly anyone can surpass. No, seriously. No, no, I'm being very serious about this. It just breaks my heart that he does not use these extraordinary talents and gifts to motivate and inspire the American people to be the best they can be. He's doing just the opposite. And it's a shame. [Applause] President Obama has the ability -- he has the ability to inspire excellence in people's pursuits. He has the ability to do all this, yet he pursues a path, seeks a path that punishes achievement, that punishes earners and punishes -- and he speaks negatively of the country. Ronald Reagan used to speak of a shining city on a hill. Barack Obama portrays America as a soup kitchen in some dark night in a corner of America that's very obscure. He's constantly telling the American people that bad times are ahead, worst times are ahead. And it's troubling, because this is the United States of America. Anybody ever ask -- I'm in awe of our country and I ask this question a lot as I've gotten older. We're less than 300 years old. We are younger than nations that have been on this planet for thousands of years. We, nevertheless, in less than 300 years -- by the way, we're no different than any other human beings around the world. Our DNA is no different. We're not better just because we're born in America. There's nothing that sets us apart. How did this happen?  How did the United States of America become the world's lone super power, the world's economic engine, the most prosperous opportunity for an advanced lifestyle that humanity has ever known?  How did this happen?  And why pray tell does the President of the United States want to destroy it?  It saddens me.

The freedom we spoke of earlier is the freedom, it's the ambition, it's the desire, the wherewithal, the passions that people have that gave us the great entrepreneurial advances, the great inventions, the greatest food production, the human lifestyle advances in this country. Why shouldn't that be rewarded?  Why is that now the focus of punishment?  Why is that now the focus of blame?  Why doesn't -- Mayor Bloomberg the other day, ladies and gentlemen, resisting his Governor's call for an increased tax on the rich in New York had some astounding numbers. Eight million people live in New York. 40,000 of those eight million pay roughly 60 to 70% of New York's operating budget. He was afraid that if he raised taxes on those people some of them might leave. Mayor, one already has, by the way. [Applause] Stop and think of this, though. Stop and think of this. Forty thousand people out of eight million. He's right, if 10,000 of them leave, or 5,000, they've got a huge problem. Because New York has its own welfare state inside the one the federal government's created. They've got a dependency class that has grown up and been educated that their entitlement is to be fed and taken care of by these evil mean people who have more than they do. If New York City, New York State or Washington, DC were a business, these 40,000 people would be taken on golf tournament trips to Los Angeles, and they would be wined and dined and they would be thanked and they would be encouraged to keep it up. They wouldn't be told they're the problem. They wouldn't be told, except there's -- I pride my accuracy rating. There is one other business where the customer is always wrong and that's the media. Sorry about that. [Applause]

Have you ever called to complain about whatever they do?  They say, yes, sir, yes, sir, three bags full. They hang up and say you're too stupid to know how they're doing what they're doing. You can't get it. You're not sophisticated enough. So that's another business where the customer is always wrong. But, seriously, the people who have achieved great things, most of it is not inherited. Most wealth in this country is the result of entrepreneurial, just plain old hard work. There's no reason to punish it. There's no reason to raise taxes on these people. Barack Obama, the Democrat Party, have one responsibility, and that's to respect the oath they gave to protect, defend and follow the US Constitution. [Applause]

They don't have the right to take money that's not theirs, from the back pockets of producers, and give it to groups like ACORN, which are going to advance the Democrat Party. If anybody but government were doing this, it would be a crime. And many of us think it's bordering on that as it exists now. [Applause]

President Obama is so busy trying to foment and create anger in a created atmosphere of crisis, he is so busy fueling the emotions of class envy that he's forgotten it's not his money that he's spending. [Applause] In fact, the money he's spending is not ours. He's spending wealth that has yet to be created. And that is not sustainable. It will not work. This has been tried around the world. And every time it's been tried, it's a failed disaster.

What's the longest war in American history?  Did somebody say the war on poverty?  Smart group. War on poverty. The war on poverty essentially started in the '30s as part of the New Deal, but it really ramped up in the '60s with Lyndon Johnson, part of the Great Society war on poverty. We have transferred something like 10 trillion, maybe close to 11 trillion, from producers and earners to nonproducers and nonearners since 1965. Yet, as I listen to the Democratic Party campaign, why, America is still a soup kitchen, the poor is still poor and they have no hope and they're poor for what reason?  They're poor because of us, because we don't care, and because we've gotten rich by taking from them, that's what kids in school are taught today. That's what others have said to the media. You know why they're poor, you know why they remain poor?  Because their lives have been destroyed by the never-ending government hay that's designed to help them, but it destroys ambition. It destroys the education they might get to learn to be self-fulfilling. [Applause] And it breaks our heart. It breaks our heart. We lose track of numbers with all of the money, with all the money that's been transferred, redistributed, with all the charitable giving in this country.

Ladies and gentlemen, there ought not be any poverty except those who are genuinely ill equipped. But most of the people in poverty in this country are equipped for far much more. They've just been beaten down. They're told don't worry, we'll take care of you. There's nothing out there for you anyway; you'll be discriminated against. Breaks our heart to see this. We can't have a great country and a growing economy with more and more people being told they have a right, because of some injustice that's been done to them or some discrimination, that they have a right to the earnings of others.  And it's gotten so out of hand now that what worries me is that this administration, the Barack Obama administration is actively seeking to expand the welfare state in this country because he wants to control it.

George Will once asked Dr. Friedrich Von Hayek, tremendous classical economist, great man, 1975, George Will, Dr. Von Hayek, why is it that intellectuals, supposed smartest people in the room, why is it that intellectuals can look right out their windows, their own homes and cars and look at their universities and not see the bounties and the growth and the greatness of capitalism?  And Von Hayek said:  I've troubled over this for years and I've finally concluded that for intellectuals, pseudo-intellectuals, and all liberals, it's about control. It's not about raising revenue. You think Obama has any intention of paying for all this spending?  Folks, if he had any intention of paying for it, he wouldn't do 90% of it because we don't have the money. [Applause]

They don't care about paying for it. All that's just words. All that's just rhetoric paying for it because he knows you have to worry about paying for it. He knows we all have to be concerned -- oh, except, wrong again. Except the words of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who were given homes that everybody knew they could never pay for, and now Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, the architects along with Bill Clinton of the policy that gave us the whole sub-prime mortgage crisis, get to sit around and act as innocent spectators to investigate what went on when they largely had the biggest role in causing it. [Applause]

Congressman Frank's definition of affordable housing is you get a house you don't have to pay for that everybody else in the neighborhood will pay for. Why?  Because it's unfair that some people can have a house and some people can't. Geez, it's just unfair. So here we have two systems. We have socialism, collectivism, Stalin, whatever you want to call it, versus capitalism. Admittedly over on the right side capitalism there will be unequal outcomes because we're all different. And some of us care more and have more passion and we know what we want to do and others are still struggling for it. Some people are just going to work harder than others. Okay. You get what you work for. Those who have a genuine inability for whatever reason are taken care of. We're compassionate people. On the left side when you get into this collectivism socialism stuff, these people on the left, the Democrats and liberals today claim that they are pained by the inequities and the inequalities in our society. And they believe that these inequities and inequalities descend from the selfishness and the greed of the achievers. And so they tell the people who are on different income quintiles, whatever lists, they say it's not that you're not working hard enough, you could have what they have, perhaps, if you applied it. They're stealing it from you.

So what liberals do, and I say this again to the -- another thing, I know people in the country are watching. I was watching a focus group after some event this week. Might have been after Obama's State of the Union show. [Laughter] And they had -- it was a typical, you know, Drive-By Media focus group. They round up losers -- [Laughter] -- who hear Obama speak and think that the next day their gas tanks are going to be filled up and get a new house and a new kitchen and a new car. And so this one guy said -- oh, it was some guy responding to Bobby Jindal. Oh, by the way did you hear about Joe Biden?  Joe Biden was mystified how Bobby Jindal got his shift off at 7-Eleven that night to make the speech.  Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Time out. Suspend speech for explanation. People watching at home. I'm glad this happened. Glad this happened. You think I just made a joke, an ethnic joke about Bobby Jindal, don't you?  I didn't. I made a joke about the bigotry of the Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden.  It was Joe Biden while walking through the train station he knows so well because he's such a real guy, that he made a comment that you can't go into a 7-Eleven without seeing some Indian guy behind the counter. They're all over the place.

Now, let a conservative say something like that and he's brought up before John Conyers' committee with Pat Leahy wanting at you next. Many people think I lose my place in these speeches because -- by the way what time is it?  We have plenty of time. We have to be out of here by -- [Applause] We have to be out of here by 6:00 -- okay, depends on how you behave. I'll decide as we go on. What liberalism Democrat, for those of you in the country, I really want you to believe this because it's the truth. I'm not saying it just because I believe it. This is a core. I want the best country we can have. We want the most prosperous people. We want to be growing. We want to lead the world. We want everybody to come here legally. We want this country to be so damn great and we just cringe to watch it -- basically capitalism be assaulted and our culture be reoriented to where the people that make it work are the enemy. That's not the United States of America. The people that make this country work, the people who pay on their mortgages, the people getting up and going to work, striving in this recession to not participate in it, they're not the enemy.

They're the people that hire you. They're the people that are going to give you a job. They're the people that are going to give you a raise, the people that need you to do work for them. [Applause] President Obama, and take your pick of any Democrat, love to say we've tried it your way. Meaning Reaganism. We've tried it your way. We tried it your way in the '80s and it didn't work. We tried it your way eight years, the last eight years and it didn't work. Excuse me. Excuse me. Have you ever noticed those of you watching around the world in my first international address to the world, Fox is on some international satellites.  They're watching this in the UK right now going (cringing). When Obama talks about past economies, he somehow always leaves out the recession of the '80s as worse than this one. Why does he leave it out?  Because you know why he leaves it out, America?  He leaves it out because we got out of that recession with tax cuts. [Applause] For those of you watching at home, I'm not nervous it's just really hot in here. These people are wired. We got out of the 1980s recession with tax cuts. Do you know that President Obama, in six weeks of his administration, has proposed more spending than from the founding of the country to his inauguration?

Now, this is not prosperity. It is not going to engender prosperity. It's not going to create prosperity and it's also not going to advance or promote freedom. It's going to be just the opposite. There are going to be more controls over what you can and can't do, how you can and can't do it, what you can and can't drive, what you can and can't say, where you can and can't say it. All of these things are coming down the pike, because it's not about revenue generation to them, it's about control. They do believe that they have compassion. They do believe they care. But, see, we never are allowed to look at the results of their plans, we are told we must only look at their good intentions, their big hearts. The fact that they have destroyed poor families by breaking up those families by offering welfare checks to women to keep having babies no more father needed, he's out doing something, the government's the father, they destroy the family. We're not supposed to analyze that. We're not supposed to talk about that. We're supposed to talk about their good intentions. They destroy people's futures. The future is not Big Government. Self-serving politicians. Powerful bureaucrats. This has been tried, tested throughout history. The result has always been disaster. President Obama, your agenda is not new. It's not change, and it's not hope. [Applause] Spending a nation into generational debt is not an act of compassion. All politicians, including President Obama, are temporary stewards of this nation. It is not their task to remake the founding of this country. It is not their task to tear it apart and rebuild it in their image.

(Crowd chanting "USA")

It is not their task, it is not their right to remake this nation to accommodate their psychology. I sometimes wonder if liberalism is not just a psychosis or a psychology, not an ideology. It's so much about feelings, and the predominant feeling that liberalism is about is about feeling good about themselves and they do that by telling themselves they have all this compassion. You know, if you really want to unhinge a liberal it's hard to do because they're so unhinged now anyway, even after -- but all you have to do is say you know that the things you people do, the things you people believe in are cruel. That's the last way they look at themselves. They are the best people on the -- they're the good people. You tell them that their ideas and that their policies are cruel and the eggs start scrambling.

I have learned how to tweak liberals everywhere. I do it instinctively now. Tweak them in the media. And no reason to be afraid of these people. Why in the world would you be afraid of the deranged?  There really is no reason to be afraid of them. And there's no reason to assume they're the minority. And there's no reason to let them set all the premises and all the agendas to which we respond to. I'm getting a little bit ahead of myself here but everybody asks me and I'm sure it's been a focal point of your convention:  What do we do as conservatives?  What do we do?  How do we overcome this?

Well, the one thing, and there are many, but one thing that we can all do is stop assuming that the way to beat them is with better policy ideas right now. I don't want to name any names. It's not the point. But I talk to people about the Obama budget or the Obama Porkulous bill or whatever else TARP 2 whatever it's going to be, and they start talking to me in the terms of process and policy.  I say stop it. What do you mean?  Who is setting the process or policy?  They are. You want to tweak it?  No. This is philosophy, folks. This guy, I forgot -- the guy in the focus group after Bobby Jindal said, I didn't want to hear him talk, he said:  Republicans and Democrats. Republicans and Democrats. Ladies and gentlemen of the United States of America, that's exactly what your future is about, who wins, Republicans or Democrats, conservatives versus liberals. The notion of partisanship, false premise. Let me define bipartisanship for you. Bipartisanship -- everybody seems to go orgasmic over the concept of bipartisanship. Don't worry, I checked with Fox, that word's okay. [Laughter] [Applause]

Remember, they covered the Lewinsky thing, so that's my -- bipartisanship occurs only after one other result, and that is victory. In other words, let's say as conservatives liberals demand that we be bipartisan with them in Congress. What they mean is:  We check our core principles at the door, come in, let them run the show and agree with them. That's bipartisanship to them. To us, bipartisanship is them being forced to agree with us after we politically have cleaned their clocks and beaten them. And that has to be what we're focused on. [Applause] Why would any of us in this room who hold the core beliefs we believe, somebody tell me where is the compromise on all of this spending?  Where is the compromise on all this punishment of the achievers. I don't know. [Laughter] [Applause]

Where is the compromise between good and evil?  Should Jesus have cut a different deal?  Serious. From the standpoint of what we have to do, folks, this is not about taking a policy or a process that the Democrats have put forward and fighting around the edges. If we're going to convince the minds and hearts of the American people that what's about to happen to them is as disastrous as anything in their lives in peacetime, we're going to have to discuss philosophy with them. We are going to have to talk about principles, because our principles are not present in what's happening here. So where the hell do we go to compromise what we believe in when our principles are not their principles, they're just the opposite of what's happening?  [Applause]

The American people -- it's a tough challenge. I admit -- I admit it's a tough challenge, but it's worth it. It's worth it. The way I just defined bipartisanship you could turn it around and liberals will define bipartisanship when we surrender and say okay we give. We're not quitting. We are not giving up. The country is too important. [Applause] There are certain realities. We don't have the votes in Capitol Hill to stop what's going to happen. What we can do is slow it down, procedure, parliamentary procedures, slow it down and do the best we can to inform the American people of what's really on the horizon. I know it's going to be tough.  At some points, I don't think it can happen even right now. This is still the honeymoon period, and there's a lot of devotion to the Obama administration. It doesn't have anything to do with intellectual thinking, it's feelings. It's going to take some time for this to play out. But I spoke to David Keene, interviewing him for my newsletter. I asked him about this. He said they're going to overreach. Wouldn't you say they have? [Laughter].

They're going to overreach. At some point, at some point people have got to realize none of this is possible. You can't have people living in homes they don't pay for. You can't have people driving cars they don't pay for. I mean, you can for a while. But after a while the people paying for it -- screw this. We're not putting up with it. And you're going to see -- you're already starting to see evidence of these. All the tea parties that are starting to bubble up out there. Those are great. Fabulous. [Applause] And here's the big question. Here's the big question. And I ask this again in the context of my first address to the nation. [Laughter] You don't know how I love saying that, how excited I am about this. Aside from the bastardization of the Constitution that the Obama plans are, that TARP is, it's not constitutional. Aside from that, where is the evidence that the people offering all of this have ever succeeded in any similar plans before?  There's none. There is no evidence it works. [Applause]

So you say how is he getting it done?  Dumb down public education. Emotions. And the ongoing -- this is why I think it's such a waste for a man as gifted as President Obama with the communications skills, you know he could wipe out the Republican Party. He can wipe out the Republican Party if he would inspire this country to be the best it could be, but we don't have to worry about that because that's not what he wants. He wants people in fear, angst and crisis, fearing the worst each and every day because that clears the decks for President Obama and his pals to come in with the answers, which are abject failures, historically shown and demonstrated. Doesn't matter. They'll have control of it when it's all over. And that's what they want. Because they think they can do it better. They see these inequalities, these inequities that capitalism produces. How do they fix it?  Do they try to elevate those at the bottom?  No! They try to tear down the people at the bottom. It's not fair you're up there. So they whack us. That's not what made the country great.[Applause] And no evidence of it is in play here.

John Kerry [Boos], who served in Vietnam. [Laughter] Think about this, and, by the way, Barney Frank got involved with this, too. Northern Trust, a bank in Chicago -- by the way, which holds the mortgage to the Messiah's house, purchased by Tony Rezko, Northern Trust holds the mortgage. Northern Trust was forced, like Wells Fargo was forced, to take TARP money. The Wells Fargo CEO said they were taken into Paulson's room and they were given until 5:00 to sign it. They weren't getting out until they did. They wanted it spread all over the banking business. Northern Trust was in there. They didn't want it. They took $1.6 billion. As you know, they went out and they sponsored the LA Riveria Open two weeks ago that Phil Mickelson barely hung on and won. [Applause]

And we find out they hired some liberals to entertain, but it still wasn't good enough. They hired Sheryl Crow. And they hired the rock crooner group Chicago, but they had the audacity, Northern Trust did, to entertain their clients, to try to reward their best customers, to get new customers, banking is in trouble, Northern Trust is trying to do what they always do, what all businesses do, and that is mine for new clients and reward existing good customers.  Not since they took $1.6 billion, I guess. The haughty John Kerry wrote a piece of legislation said:  He's getting sick and tired, sick and tired of these CEOs using taxpayer money to throw all these lavish parties. And I'm saying where do you get yours, Senator?  [Applause]

Sad thing, sad thing is it works. They've created class envy in so many average Americans that they love hearing that. Yeah, you get even with those bank guys. How is it going to improve here?  Let me ask a question for those of you watching my first national address. Take the favorite villain you've got, maybe it's John Thain at Merrill Lynch, because he used his own money, his company's own money, his company's own money, to redecorate a bathroom in an office for $1.2 million. By the way, to do that he had to hire a contractor. They got paid. Had to hire a designer and buy furniture, that's called stimulus. And he did it.

But all of a sudden John Thain's thrown out. John Thain is thrown out. He's humiliated and embarrassed; how dare he?  He did it a year before they took the TARP money. And all these Congressmen are standing up saying this is not going to happen. We are not going to watch these people capping executive pay while Obama tries to live like one. You know, he's trying to emulate the lifestyle he is attacking. That's what liberals do. Two sets of rules:  One for them; one for everybody else. But it's coming. See, if you think that John Thain or the Northern Trust CEO, if you love them getting attacked, if you love them being ripped, ask yourself the next day, do you have any more money in your pocket?  Is your life any better because that guy got taken out or down by some haughty senator from Massachusetts?

If you ask yourself this, you'll realize your life is no better off. That the Democrats and Obama are asking you to feel better simply on the basis that they're going to get revenge for you, but your life isn't going to improve, somebody else's is just going to be destroyed and they want you to be happy over that. That's sick. And that is not the United States of America. [Applause] Besides, as far as John Kerry is concerned, if it wasn't for his varicose veins, he would be totally colorless. [Laughter]

Now let's talk about the conservative movement as it were. We, ladies and gentlemen, have challenges that are part and parcel of a movement that feels it has just suffered a humiliating defeat when it's not humiliating. This wasn't a landslide victory, 52 to, what, 46. Fifty-eight million people voted against Obama. There would have been more if we would have had a conservative nominee. [Applause] I don't mean that -- I mean that in an instructive way, as a lead-in to what I'm talking about here. No humiliating defeat here. I can't -- sometimes I get livid and angry. We do have an organizational problem. We have a challenge. We've got factions now within our own movement seeking power to dominate it, and worst of all to redefine it.  Well, the Constitution doesn't need to be redefined. Conservative intellectuals, the Declaration of Independence does not need to be redefined and neither does conservatism. Conservatism is what it is and it is forever. It's not something you can bend and shape and flake and form. [Applause] Thank you. Thank you.

For the purposes of this occasion, I'm not going to mention any names, I bet with you I won't have to. People watching my first address to the nation might be curious what I'm talking about. They'll find out in due course, trust me on this. I cringed -- it might have been 2007, late 2007 or sometime during 2008, but a couple of prominent conservative but Beltway establishment media types began to write on the concept that the era of Reagan is over. [Crowd Booing]

And that we needed to adapt our appeal, because, after all, what's important in politics is winning elections. And so we have to understand that the American people, they want Big Government. We just have to find a way to tell them we're no longer opposed to that. We will come up with our own version of it that is wiser and smarter, but we've got to go get the Walmart voter, and we've got to get the Hispanic voter, and we've got to get the recalcitrant independent women. And I'm listening to this and I am just apoplectic:  The era of Reagan is over?  When the hell do you hear a Democrat say the era of FDR is over?  You never hear it. Not only that, the President of the United States today thinks he's FDR, thinks he's Abraham Lincoln, and sometimes, Tuesday night, thinks he's Ronald Reagan. Our own movement has members trying to throw Reagan out while the Democrats know they can't accomplish what they want unless they appeal to Reagan voters. We have got to stamp this out within this movement, because it will tear us apart. It will guarantee we lose elections. [Applause]

We have to. You see, to me it's a no-brainer. It's not even something to me:  How do you get rid of Reagan from conservatism?  The blueprint -- the blueprint for landslide conservative victory is right there. Why in the hell do the smartest people in our room want to chuck it?  I know why. I know exactly why. It's because they're embarrassed of some of the people who call themselves conservatives. These people in New York and Washington, cocktail elitists, they get made fun of when the next NASCAR race is on TV and their cocktail buds come up to them, those people are in your party?  How do you put up with this?  It would be easy to throw them overboard, so as to maintain these cocktail party/Beltway/New York City/inside-the-Beltway media relationships. But I tell you:  This notion that Reaganism is dead, conservatism needs to be refined, let's take a look at this. We've got to go get the Walmart voter. I opened my remarks tonight by telling the people watching on Fox who we conservatives are. When I look out at you in this audience, I don't see a Walmart voter. And I don't see a black, and I don't see a woman, and I don't see a Hispanic. I see human beings who happen to be fortunate enough to be the luckiest people on Earth since you are Americans. [Applause]

Conservatism -- for us to make the decision that we've got to figure out policies, to get the Walmart voter -- psst, we've got most of them already, is the bottom line. Conservatism is a universal set of core principles. You don't check principles at the door. This is a battle that we're going to have. And there are egos involved here, too. When the situation like ours exists, there are people who want to lead it. They want to redefine it. Their egos are such that they want to be the next X, whoever it is. So there will be different factions lining up to try to define what conservatism is. And beware of those different factions who seek as part of their attempt to redefine conservatism, as making sure the liberals like us, making sure that the media likes us. They never will, as long as we remain conservatives. They can't possibly like us; they're our enemy. In a political arena of ideas, they're our enemy. They think we need to be defeated. Why do you think -- you all in this room know this. For those of you watching at home, my first address to the nation -- [Laughter] -- I'm sure you paid close enough attention, that you knew at one time Senator McCain was the favorite Republican of all the cable news networks and the Sunday shows. And they would just -- I mean their tongues would be on the floor. The media people (panting) when they knew McCain was coming. And they would treat McCain as the greatest guy in the world. Did you wonder why?  You were told he was moderate. He was not strict. He was not an authoritarian, he was able to walk to the other side of the aisle, able to get along with the enemy. And everybody wants love and bipartisanship.

That's not why they invited Senator McCain. They invited Senator McCain because he happened to be the loudest at criticizing his own president and his own party and that's what they want, is people from our side -- and there will be factions in our movement, folks, who are going to make an effort to say we have to grow, we can't stay stale, I think I heard the term used the other day. Nothing stale about freedom. There's nothing stale about liberty. There's nothing stale about fighting for it. Nothing stale whatsoever. [Applause] Freedom. Are you getting tired of standing up, I don't blame you. By the way for those watching on TV you think the standing -- people are just tired. They've been up and out of their chairs 100 times here. [Applause] Thank you. Freedom -- freedom is the natural yearning of the human spirit as we were endowed by our creator. And the United States of America is the place in the world where that yearning flourishes, where freedom is expected because it's part of the way we're created.

I loved it when the Soviet Union went down and the wall went down and the liberals in our country said you know they may not be ready for freedom over there. They've been oppressed -- yes, liberals will gladly tell you who can have freedom and who can't. And that's what the pieces of legislation are all about, folks, freedom, liberty, economic prosperity, they're all entwined here. We'll have to as a conservative movement understand that our job, after we come to an agreement among ourselves, which shouldn't be hard but it's going to be difficult because the people that think they're smarter than everybody else are going to be out there forging alliances with people that try to make themselves look like new power brokers, and they will become the spokesmen, by the way.

By the way, explain that to you. This is a funny story. Show you how I can hijack a news cycle even by doing anything. The Tuesday before the inauguration, President Bush invited me to the Oval Office for lunch. And it was on and off the record, some of the conversations. And he brought out, interesting, at the end of it -- my birthday had been the day before. He brought out a chocolate birthday cake, a microphone, and stood beside me with Ed Gillespie and sang happy birthday. Photographers taking pictures. I wish my parents were alive. My parents wouldn't believe my life.  They came out of the Great Depression. They didn't think it was possible for somebody who did not go to college -- and even for people who did -- they didn't think this was possible. Life has changed so much for the better in this country. That's why I cringe when I see what is in store.

So as I'm flying home from lunch, I'm watching television and I see that the word has leaked out that Obama is hosting a dinner with conservative media pundits at the home of George Will. I said:  I wonder who these people are?  [Laughter] In the media, one of them is going to have to leak it. Sure as heck, one did. Now, we all know who were there. And let's see -- I can't remember all the names, so I won't mention any. But let me tell you Obama's purpose. Does anybody really think that Barack Obama had dinner with a bunch of conservatives hoping they would change his mind?

CROWD:  No!

RUSH:  Hell, no. His purpose -- and his purpose really wasn't to change theirs -- his purpose was to anoint them as conservative spokesmen. These are the people that Obama's willing to break bread with. These happen -- some of the people there happen to be the people who think the era of Reagan is over, who believe that conservatism needs to be redefined. Of course Obama would try to lure them in. Well, all of a sudden I land. I get home about 5:00, and my e-mail is jammed with questions from reporters, are you, is that why you took the day off today?  Is that why you're not on the air?  Are you going to dinner with Obama?  By the way, I left out a crucial part of the story. Was this a Monday, Kit?  It was a Tuesday. I had forgotten to tell my audience that I was going to miss the next day. I signed off the show saying I'll see you tomorrow. That's the last thing I said. The staff reminded me you're not going to be here tomorrow. I came up with a plan, that the guest host the next day would say that I was called out of town to Washington at midnight the night before. Just an innocent little trick on the radio audience. Everybody picked that up and thinks I'm invited to the Obama dinner. So those people that were invited to it got less coverage than I did and I didn't even know about it. [Laughter] It was fun. [Applause]

Conservatives are naturally happy. We seek happiness. We pursue it. It's part of who we are. So what can you do?  Live your life. I swear, folks, you do not know in just the everyday life that you live in your homes, your neighborhoods, the favorite word of this administration, your "communities." Remember the root word there is "commune." [Applause] Be happy, live your life according to your values and principles. Know you're going to fail, no human being is perfect, you're going to make mistakes, but live your life -- you'll be stunned at how many people you impress. Don't be afraid to tell children that they're wrong. They don't know what you do. They simply haven't lived long enough. It's not their fault, but they're being fed a bunch of garbage in school and don't be afraid to tell them that they're wrong.

Don't go the Oprah route and say gotta be friends with my parents, my kids, first and foremost. Understand they're going to hate you for a while and they're going to rebel against you and someday they're going to think you're the smartest person they ever met. But you owe them the truth. You owe them the truth about things. You owe them the truth about morality. You owe them the truth about values. [Applause] You owe them the truth about politics. Next thing, we've got to stop treating voters as children.  [Applause] Somebody says they want something that's bad for them, do you give it to them just to be nice?  Or do you tell them, regardless of their age, no, you shouldn't have that?  Well, it's none of your business. Maybe not. And then you back out of it. But you still have to have the ability to tell people what's right and wrong. And that's not authoritative. That's not authoritarian. And it's not trying to deny somebody a good time. It's not trying to interrupt somebody's hedonism, pleasure, it's about all of us with shared values trying to make sure that people live the highest quality lives they can. Ultimately, it's their decision as to what they do.  But the point is, don't treat them -- especially voters -- as kids just -- they say they want it okay we'll come up with a plan to give it to you.

Have any of you seen the movie -- I'd never heard of it, but I happened to get a DVD the other day. Anybody see the movie Swing Vote with Kevin Costner?  You know, it's kind of a moronic movie like most things out of Hollywood are. But this is fascinating in the way -- tell you a short story, because a voter screwup in New Mexico there's one voter who is going to elect the president. His vote didn't count because his daughter voted for him. I won't give the whole story away. But New Mexico's electoral votes, New Mexico's electoral votes determined it. And they have a two-week period before this guy can vote again. So the challenger and the president both relocate to where this guy lives in New Mexico and they end up like the Democrat played by Dennis Hopper stands for antiabortion. The Democrat candidate comes out with a commercial for life. The Republican candidate comes out, because this guy is an idiot and doesn't know what he believes, and every utterance that he makes these politicians react to it throwing their principles on the floor, just to get his vote.  Sadly, this is what some of the conservative intellectuals in our movement want to do, essentially. And that we cannot do. We've got to stand for what we believe and treat people as adults and understand they can learn.  [Applause] Go optimism.

Joe Biden, ladies and gentlemen, was watching CBS -- when did you start here?  Thursday. You might have seen this. The days run together. It might have been Wednesday, but Biden was on the CBS Early Show. And he was asked -- the anchorette -- sorry. I'm trying to change my ways. I've been doing women summit programs so not to offend women. The anchor, Maggie Rodriguez, went out and got some man-on-the-street questions. And one guy, woman, I think question for Biden. What is in the stimulus package for small business?  Biden was clearly stumped because there isn't anything in the stimulus package for small business.  So what Biden said, honest to God, what Biden said was:  Well, if there's a bridge to your small business, we're going to make sure that bridge stays open so that you can get to your small business and your customers -- honest. I kid you not. Now, of course, the media today is a bunch of hacks, they're out there as PR agents; they're starting to get a little embarrassed. Maggie Rodriguez says, Senator Biden, there's a website that answers all these questions. What is the name of the website and Biden says I don't know. He looks off stage. "Does somebody have the website number?"  [Applause] I realize those of you watching at home during my first address to the nation, you have never heard liberal Democrats be made fun of in this way. Get used to it. [Applause]

Two other things and we'll get out of here contractually over time. The president's stimulus package, the TARP, the whatever, the budget, relies on one thing for its success. Well, aside from authoritarian government power. It relies on the complacency of the American people.  It relies on their belief that they can convince the American people that there's such a crisis that only government, the only entity that can fix it is government, as Obama has said. So they get complacent and they sit around and they wait. See, this is something liberals will never understand about the United States of America and it's right under their noses, right in front of their faces, we are a competitive people. We strive, enough of us do, to be the best. We strive to win. We strive to avoid defeat. Enough of us still do. Don't believe otherwise.  The liberals have made efforts to shut that aspect of our nature down. Wherever you live, I am certain that you, when you were a child or your kids today in youth sports are told not to keep score, because the losers, it's just not fair. They'd be humiliated, especially if one girl's basketball team can defeat another one 100 to nothing. And let's fire the coach who put that game together. It's so unfair.  So let's not keep score. Well, here's the dirty little secret. The kids are keeping score. [Applause] You know they are. They don't want to lose. They know what winning and losing is. They're saying, well, why go out there and put on the pads and play football or T-Ball if the objective here is to not keep score. So they're keeping score. They get in the car with mom and dad and they tell mom and dad:  Yeah, we kicked their butts tonight. Wait a minute, I thought you weren't keeping score. They weren't officially. They keep score. We're competitive people. Adults are doing the same thing.

It didn't take long for people to get fired up when they figured out that they're going to be paying mortgages for people who should never have been lent money in the first place for the bogus excuse of maintaining property values in the neighborhood.  This is something that -- the complacency of the American people is something they're going to rely on along with their authoritarian efforts to control it. But they will not succeed at this. Because we're not quitters. We don't acquiesce. We're not going to give up the American dream and watch idly while it is restructured and transformed.
[Applause]

As I say, we want the best:  Happiness for everybody. Now, about my still-to-me mysteriously controversial comment that I hope President Obama fails. I was watching the Super Bowl. And as you know, I love the Pittsburgh Steelers. [Cheers and Applause] So they have this miraculous scoring drive that puts them up by four, 15 seconds left. Kurt Warner on the field for the Cardinals. And I sure as heck want you to know I hope he failed. I did not want the Cardinals to win. I wanted Warner to make the biggest fool of himself possible. I wanted a sack, I wanted anything. I wanted the Steelers to win. I wanted to win. I wanted the Cardinals to fail.

This notion that I want the President to fail, folks, this shows you a sign of the problem we've got. That's nothing more than common sense and to not be able to say it, why in the world do I want what we just described, rampant government growth indebtedness, wealth that's not even being created yet that is being spent, what is in this?  What possibly is in this that anybody of us wants to succeed?   Did the Democrats want the war on Iraq to fail!

CROWD:  Yes!

RUSH:  They certainly did. They not only wanted the war in Iraq to fail, they proclaimed it a failure. There's Dingy Harry Reid waiving a white flag:  [doing Harry Reid impression] "This war is lost. This war is" -- [Cheers and Applause] They called General Petraeus a liar before he even testified. Mrs. Clinton -- [Crowd Booing] -- said she had to, willingly suspend disbelief in order to listen to Petraeus. We're in the process of winning the war. The last thing they wanted was to win. They hoped George Bush failed. So what is so strange about being honest to say that I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation?  Why would I want that to succeed?  [Applause]

Let me add a caveat here. My friends, I know what's going on. I know what's going on. We're in the aspects here of an historic presidency. I know that. But let me be honest again. I got over the historical aspects of this in November. President Obama is our president. President Obama stands for certain things. I don't care, he could be a Martian. He could be from Michigan, I don't know -- just kidding. Doesn't matter to me what his race is. It doesn't matter. He's liberal is what matters to me. And his articulated -- his articulated plans scare me.  Now, I understand we can't say we want the President to fail, Mr. Limbaugh. That's like saying -- this is the voice of the New Castrati, by the way, guys who have lost their guts. You can't say Mr. Limbaugh that you want the President to fail because that's like saying you want the country to fail. It's the opposite. I want the country to survive. I want the country to succeed. [Cheers and Applause] [Crowd Chanting "USA" ]

I want the country to survive as we have known it, as you and I were raised in it, is what I mean. Now, I have been called -- and I can take it. Pioneers take the arrows, I don't mind what anybody says about me, any time ever. I don't have time for it. I don't give other people the power to offend me. And you shouldn't either, by the wasted time being offended.[Applause]

I mean, there's some people you can't say you want the President to fail. Ladies and gentlemen of the United States, the Democrat Party has actively not just sought the failure of Republican presidents and policies and now wars for the first time, the Democrat Party doesn't stop at failure. Talk to Judge Robert Bork or Justice Clarence Thomas about how they tried to destroy lives, reputations and character, and I'm supposed to say I don't want the President to fail?  [Applause] We're in for a real battle. We are talking about the United States of America -- and there will always be an America, don't misunderstand me -- we're talking about it remaining the country we were all born into and reared and grown into. And it's under assault. It's always under assault. But it's never been under assault like this from within before. And it's a serious, serious battle.

So as you leave here, as you leave here optimism, confidence, not guilt, it's not worth it. There's nothing to be guilty about. Don't treat people as children. Respect their intelligence. Realize that there's a way to persuade people. Sometimes the worst way is to get in their face and point a finger. Set up a set of circumstances where the conclusion is obvious. Let them think they came up with the idea themselves. They'll think they're smart that they figured it out. Who cares how you persuade them, the fact they can be persuaded is factually correct, it's possible. But the main thing to do here is stop thinking that we are a minority. Stop thinking that it is being in the minority that liberates you. It is your beliefs. It is your core principles, it is your confidence that liberates you. It's not being in the minority.

In fact, for those of you watching my first national address and still hanging in there, we really are not that happy about being a minority and we're out to change it. [Applause] So I have -- I've gone over my allotted time by an hour. [Applause]

I want to thank all of you so much for everything that you have meant to me and my family in my life.

CROWD:  Thank you.

RUSH:  I understand it's mutual. And I hear people -- you have made my heart grow so much that it barely fits in my chest cavity here tonight. But the things that by virtue of your listening to my radio show and being active in this movement that we all cherish and love, you have meant more to me, my family and my life than whatever it is I might mean to you, even though I know that's considerable. [Applause] You still can't outdo the absolute joy and awe and thanks I feel for all of you. I've been doing this for 20 years and the numbers just keep growing. And I can't tell you how appreciative I am and proud to be in a movement with the same passions, desires and core beliefs that all of you have, because we know that it's right for the country, and we know it's right for people. It's not something that has to be forced on them. It's not something that has to be authoritatively pressed on them. We are what is, and that's why we are an enemy because we're effective. The people that do want control look at us as the enemy. We're always going to be -- don't ever measure your success by how many Drive-By Media reports you see that are fair to us. Never going to happen. Don't measure your success by how many people like you. Just worry about how they vote. And then at the end of the day how they live, but that's really none of your business once they close the doors. Thank you all very much. It's been great.

How Ottawa could've helped name President Obama's Pup

Barry Artiste Op/ Ed/Satire

I guess Canadian Politicians such as NDPs Lefy Jack Layton and Liberal Leader Ignatieff suggestion to name the Presidential Pup, "Nancy Boy" fell on Obama's Deaf Ears, as it just doesn't have the cache of  Obama's pick of  "Rex, King or Hillary!

How Ottawa could've helped name the presidential pup

By Glen McGregor, The Ottawa CitizenFebruary 27, 2009 U.S. president Barack Obama should have asked for dog name suggestions when he visited Ottawa last week.

The president's family has reportedly settled on a Portuguese water dog as their choice of breed for a new family pet, but is struggling with a name for the dog, which they hope to bring home in April.

"Frank" and "Moose" have already been rejected, according Obama's wife, Michelle.

"Oh, the names are really bad. I don't even want to mention it, because there are names floating around and they're bad," she told People magazine.

About 100 Ottawa dog owners have already settled on original names for their Portuguese water dogs, according to dog license records obtained by the Citizen from the city. All but 10 of the animals have unique handles, the records show.

Canadian Gangsters go digital to recruit, intimidate

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Hey!! Vanilla Ice wants his Look Back!

VANCOUVER — The next generation of street thugs is literally at our fingertips.

They call themselves gangsters and they’ve got the criminal charges to back up their reputation.

But unlike most organized crime groups who try to stay undercover, they’re glorifying the thug lifestyle in the most public of forums — online.

“It’s once again become cool to be associated with a street gang,” says Robert Gordon, director of Simon Fraser University’s criminology department. “With the availability of the Internet and networking sites . . . they are communicating more online now.

“So, rather than marking territories with violence or making their presence known by wearing particular uniforms or clustering in particular places, they are transferring all of that to the cyber-world.”

Halting the slaughter of Albino innocents

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

One would think in a world as Modern as our own, Myths resulting in Barbaric practises like this would be a thing of the past.
This brings another question, Immigration! How would this type of issue be handled with new arrivals to the West, if these same people believe and practise such nonsense!

Of course many will say Barry, take off the KKK hood! To that I say, in my time back east there were a group of new Somalian arrivals who would attend an Ottawa high school daily armed with Machetes hidden in their pantlegs, as that was their way, their culture.  In addition, these youths thought nothing of trying to sexually accost or harass young ladies in the school for the taking, again, that was their way and culture!  A man is king in their land and ladies are on this earth for the taking.  Now you tell me Immigration didn't know the cultural background of Somalia? Again information new arrivals could have used, but didn't get! Would it have helped new arrivals? Perhaps, but at least they would have been warned about the consequences of their actions!

Police and freaked out parents were called, it took close to two years to stop this from happening, as these youths thought it quite natural it seems to protect themselves, extort money and goods or harrass young ladies.  Perhaps in war torn Somalia this common, but not in Canada!

Thankfully if memory serves me correct there were no fatalities because of it, but there were a few injuries, gang fights with these Somalia teens and their machetes etc.

In ending, a sad fact that when we take it for granted and accept new arrivals we expect them to act in a civilised manner,  yet if we (Immigration) does not study the area and customs, practices where these immigrants came from are we that complacent to assume they will act like us?  Apparently so, why not give them a crash course upon their arrival that you must give up certain customs, and live by Canadian rules and norms, because to do otherwise may be contrary to our laws of the land.  I remember meeting some newly arrived immigrants Freaking out if anyone in uniform passed them by, why? Because in their home country, a Uniform usually meant you were taken away, and never heard from again! Probably would have been helpful to inform Immigrants that Canadians in uniform are not like the oppressive regimes back home.  Another item is banking, many new arrivals do not trust banks, as their countries banking system was so crooked, no one trusted banks, so these newly arrived immigrants walked around with large wads of cash, and/or stored their life savings under their mattresses. This left them susceptable to Robbery, home invasions and scams.  Again, information Immigrants could have used upon arrival to this country.

So before you "Leftards" unholster your "waggin fingers" with charges of Racism at me, just know Barbaric stories like this and like many others is just one of the same beliefs, rumours and innuendo that we witness in the media and shake our heads and wonder, what is this world coming to?

Halting the slaughter of Albino innocents

Megan O'Toole, National Post Published: Friday, February 27, 2009

To the vicious hunters of northwestern Tanzania, she is "zeru zeru" -- invisible, inhuman, a ghost.

Under cover of darkness, a group of men charge into young Viviana's room in the middle of the night, pin her pale form immobile, and hack off one of her little legs as her sister screams in horror.

Viviana, shockingly, is among the lucky ones. The commotion draws the attention of neighbours, and the attackers slip off into the night without finishing the job. She is left an amputee, but alive.

The single albino leg will fetch upwards of $1,000 in a gruesome market controlled by powerful Tanzanian witch doctors, who grind the bones into potions and repurpose them as good luck charms for struggling miners and fishermen.

Imagine the size of the DUMP, those "Giant Flying Bastards" would do to your car flying overhead?

Giant seabird's fossilized skull found in Peru

The Associated Press

LIMA, Peru -- The unusually intact fossilized skull of a giant, toothed sea bird that died millions of years ago was found on Peru's arid southern coast, researchers said Friday.

The fossil is the best-preserved cranium ever found of a pelagornithid, a family of large seabirds believed to have gone extinct some three million years ago, said Rodolfo Salas, head of vertebrate paleontology at Peru's National History Museum.

Canada takes back deported gangster

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
Yep, the War on Gangs, Gangs 1, Government "Zippidity Squat", the Conservative Governments excuse that they were forced because of a previous Liberal Governments Promise, doesn't wash, Public Safety is a Concern, not previous Government Stupidity!

TORONTO -- Canadian officials acknowledged on Friday that they helped bring a "dangerous" gang member to Toronto from South Asia this week, two days before the government unveiled its new anti-gang strategy.

Panchalingam Nagalingam, who was deported in 2005 because of his involvement in a violent Toronto street gang, arrived back on Tuesday morning, and Canadian officials say they facilitated and paid for his return. The circumstances have one official lamenting that the government is "in the business of putting gangs and gangsters out of business, not in bringing them back to Canada."

Viagra-fuelled orgy ends in death

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

To take a page from a Barbara Walters Interview "If you were a tree, what kind of "Woodie" would you have?

A Russian man collapsed and died after a 12-hour orgy.

Sergey Tuganov made a $4,300 bet with two women that he could last a 12 hour sex marathon with them both.

The mechanic swallowed dozens of Viagra pills in the course of the session to ensure he would win. However, minutes after the 12 hours were up and he was declared the victor, the 28-year-old had a heart attack, collapsed and died.

One of the women, who only gave her name as Alina, told Moscow police: “We called emergency services but it was too late, there was nothing they could do.”

Medics said he most likely died from the quantity of viagra he had ingested.

Gangs Officially taken Control of the City of Abbotsford, BC

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Gangs have officially taken over the City of Abbotsford, British Columbia when an area school now is forced to practice Lockdowns because a known Gangster lives in their Midst.  I say this again "Have we lost a War"? It seems so when a city is held hostage by criminals. I say time to take out the trash, cause when a Criminals Rights Trumps an entire City's rights, we as a society have gone to "Hell in a Handbasket"!

Perhaps a page from the Old West History should be taken, complete with Torches and Pitchfork in running undersirables out of town and hiring some Hangin Judges!

ABBOTSFORD - A parent of a Prince Charles Elementary student is furious that he wasn't informed about the extra security measures at the school, due to the facility's proximity to the Bacon brothers' family residence.

The parent, who did not want to be named, said he became aware of the measures after he noticed Abbotsford Police patrol vehicles regularly in the area. The Bacon brothers allegedly have ties to organized crime.

He then discovered that school administrators hold "lockdown practice" at the school with the students.

Obama's Requests $130 Billion Dollar War Chest: Iraq/Afghanistan

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

H-m-m-m something tells me if Bush were still President there would be flag burning Left Wing Protests in the streets and yelling for one's head, but since it is Newly minted President Obama, these protests seem eeriely silent.

How hypocritical, when it seems "Same Shit-Different Diaper" when the task of Politics is at hand, Yet the Lefties continue the "Obama Love Fest"!

Bush must be sitting in his ranch, cuppa hot cocoa in hand, smiling smugly!

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Barack Obama proposed war spending yesterday that nears $11 billion a month for the next year and a half despite the planned drawdown of U.S. forces in Iraq.

The Obama administration wants to spend about $75 billion on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan through next fall, costs that were largely set by the previous Bush administration. On top of that the budget proposal released yesterday asks Congress for $130 billion for next year.

It's not clear yet whether Obama's promise to bring combat troops home from Iraq will carry a cost savings in the near term. The United States has been spending some $11 billion to $12 billion per month fighting two wars.

"The president is working with his military commanders to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan while responsibly removing combat forces from Iraq," the White House budget summary said.

The Green Lantern: Greener Pastures
Your final resting place doesn’t have to involve an ecological impact
Nina Shen Rastogi, Slate.com Published: Thursday, February 26, 2009

Q. I try to be as eco-conscious as possible when it comes to managing my household waste. But lately I've been worrying about what to do when I become waste. What's the greenest thing I can do with my remains when I shuffle off this mortal coil?

A The Green Lantern applauds you for thinking ahead. End-of-life decisions are always fraught and emotional; researching your options now - and spelling them out clearly - helps ensure that your loved ones abide by your wishes when you're out of the picture.

If you're like most North Americans, you're planning on being buried or cremated. Each comes with a set of environmental burdens, though many of these can be mitigated. (If you prefer to have your body tossed off a boat, Environment Canada has a set of rules it would like you to follow.)

Foreign workers in Alta. face uncertain fate

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Though I have always voiced on Now Public "Immediately stopping Immigration to Canada" during our worst economic times since the Dirty Thirties, those workers who immigrated here on good faith, law abiding, worked and contributed to Canada and now face employment uncertaintly because of the Global Economy should not be discarded and deported. They should be allowed to stay. Yet our Government for some reason is looking at bringing 500,000 immigrants to Canada from other lands!. Hello! what about the Friggin Immigrants we have here? What about them? You want them to Leave? Give your Head a Shake! They are already Here!

What happens after when the economy gets back on track? Good luck trying to get these Immigrants to come back here, once bitten, twice shy. These Workers have Canadian Skills now, you don't throw that away!

My feelings I adhere to, are from an 3,000 year old adage, we should all live by "When in Rome...........you are Roman if you contribute to the Wealth and Health of Rome!"  I put it this way, anyone living, working and contributing as law abiding citizens are Canadian! Period! Citizenship is only a paper document, these people are not! They are not disposable!

If they are to be deported, I say pay em off and pay em off good, regardless of their two year contract, cause we all know if the economy were gangbusters, they would have had their contracts renewed!  I say if Canada wont let them stay, then pay em two years salary Tax Free and send em on their way, with our apologies and appreciation for their contributions.

B ut then that is my opinion!

EDMONTON — The number of temporary foreign workers in Alberta doubled during the last two years of the boom to reach 57,843 — more than the population of Grande Prairie, Alta.

The new figures from Citizenship and Immigration show Alberta now has almost the same number of foreign workers as British Columbia, with 58,456 as of December 2008.

But as Canadian jobless figures rise, the fate of these workers in Alberta — mostly on two-year contracts in jobs ranging from engineers to welders and coffee-shop servers — is in question.

Even though Alberta shed 16,000 jobs in December and 5,700 in January, small businesses must continue to bring unskilled labour from overseas to staff hotels and restaurants because Canadians won’t take those jobs, says Danielle Smith, Alberta director of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

Study of fossils shows prehistoric fish had sex

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
Hence why W.C. Fields never Drank Water, cause Fish F**^ in it!

BANGKOK, Thailand - The fossilized remains of two pregnant fish indicate sex as we know it - fertilization of eggs inside a female - took place as much as 30 million years earlier than previously thought, researchers said Thursday.

Scientists from Australia and Britain studying 380-million-year-old fossils of the armoured placoderm fish, or Incisoscutum richiei, said they were initially confused when they realized the two fish were carrying embryos. They originally thought the fish laid their eggs before fertilization.

Make Up Your F***ing Minds: Research Idiots!

No footage found.

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Okay, which is it?  Make up your Friggin Minds and Get your Collective shit together.
Researchers, the bane of us all, in which many feel are on this earth to SUCK Government Research Grants Dry, can never agree on anything.  Wine is good, reduces Cancer, then another Festering Boil of a Researcher comes our Wind Bad, Causes Cancer.  Something tells me we should do whatever the hell we want and screw they Schizo Wanks and their theories.  The only theory I have ever subscribed to is Ann Elk, whose theory, "Ahem" is a Brontasauraus is AHEM! long and skinny at one end, AHEM and fat in the middle...........AHEM! and long and skinny at the other end! That is her theory and that is True~!

The study found that low to moderate drinking was linked to an increase in cancer risk and may account for nearly 13 per cent of the cancers of the breast, liver, rectum, and upper digestive tract combined.

The findings are in the online issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

The researchers examined the effect of alcohol consumption on women's cancer risk using the Million Women Study, which included almost 1.3 million middle-aged women in the United Kingdom.

Those women in the study who drank consumed, on average, one drink per day - which the study authors considered typical in most high-income countries such as the U.K. and Canada.

They found the risk of any type of cancer increased with increasing alcohol consumption, as did the risk of some specific types of cancer, including breast cancer, liver cancer and rectal cancer. Women who also smoked had an increased risk of mouth and throat cancers.

'Death to Canada,' some Afghan protesters chant

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

This certainly does not bode well for Canada and Canadians, with many calling for a troop pullout after 2 children were killed, by what Afghani's say was by Canadian Troops.

Protesters accused Canadian and American soldiers of killing the two during raids overnight Tuesday on houses in Senjaray, a community on the outskirts of Kandahar city. It is in the Zhari district, a hotbed of Taliban activity west of the city.

About 500 protesters shut down the main highway out of Kandahar city about 7 a.m. local time with some chanting "death to Canada" and "death to foreigners" and calling on foreign troops to leave the country.

Canadian military officials have denied involvement in the raids by both their own soldiers and NATO's.

322,000 manufacturing jobs disappeared from Canada today

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Though we are losing a hundred thousand jobs almost monthly, we should take heart that Jason Kenney, Federal Minister of Multiculturalism has just increased Immigration this month to 500,000 people to supplement the unemployed masses who will be relying on social services in cities who can ill afford to care for Canadians yet alone more people coming to our shores. But when the ethnic votes are needed to prop up a Minority Government, the More the Merrier~!

Roughly 322,000 manufacturing jobs have disappeared from Canada
Financial PostFebruary 21, 2009  showTab("text/html");  While the Canadian economy added 1.5 million people to employer payrolls during its peak years, roughly 322,000 manufacturing jobs -- or more than one in seven positions in the sector -- disappeared from the landscape, Statistics Canada reported yesterday. function resizeImage() { var imgBox = document.getElementById('imageBox'); var photo = document.getElementById('storyphoto'); if (imgBox != null && photo != null) { if(photo.width >= 460) { imgBox.className = 'imagesize460'; } else { if(photo.width >= 300) { imgBox.className = 'imagesize310'; } else { imgBox.className = 'imageboxpadding'; } imgBox.style.width = photo.width + 'px'; } } } function getStoryFontSize() { var storyfontsize = getCookie('storyfontsize'); var storyfontimage = getCookie('storyfontimage'); // use cookied value, if present if (storyfontsize != null) { setClass('story_content',storyfontsize); if (storyfontimage != null) { setClass('fontsizecontainer',storyfontimage); } } else // default it to para14 if no cookie { setClass('story_content','para14'); setClass('fontsizecontainer','size02'); } } function setStoryFontSize(storyfontsize,storyfontimage) { setClass('story_content',storyfontsize); setClass('fontsizecontainer',storyfontimage); setCookie('storyfontsize', storyfontsize, '365', '/', '', ''); setCookie('storyfontimage', storyfontimage, '365', '/', '', ''); } function setCookie( name, value, expires, path, domain, secure ) { // set time var today = new Date(); today.setTime( today.getTime() ); if ( expires ) { expires = expires * 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24; //days } var expires_date = new Date( today.getTime() + (expires) ); document.cookie = name + "=" + escape( value ) + ( ( expires ) ? For the period between Jan. 1, 2004, to Dec. 31, 2008 -- which the Crown agency examined -- the share of manufacturing jobs in the economy dropped from 14.4 per cent to 11.5 per cent, or the loss of 322,000 positions.

Social housing at Olympic Village to cost $595,000 per unit

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

I have written more than a few stories on this Beached Whale of a Project. Funny how Math works when you are a politician, they say these shoebox condos are $600,000 per unit for each homeless person, when the real cost is 2 million dollars per unit. Then when you take into consideration the surrounding land in which his homeless uptopia is being built around that is another 252 million.  OOHH and the maintenance contractor to maintain the buildings will run close to 200 millions dollars. It may be a Leeds Gold Building, once built, but once the Homeless and Druggies move in, the Leeds Status will soon be removed as they put their own personal stamp on these units, such a railroad spikes to hold up towels, shopping carts in their units, and graffitti etc.

So you see when a 1 billion dollar price tag is stated, these units true cost is close to 4 million dollars for 600 square foot luxury walk in closet with a view.

But dont tell politicians that, cause truth hurts, and for Vancouver taxpayers who will pay for all this for generations to come it will really, really hurt.  So take 252 units and divide it into a billion dollars and see if you come up with $600,000? Can't be done, unless your Math Wiz Mayor Gregor Robertson, maybe it is Municipal councillors Wacky Math skills which go us into this mess in the first place when they said a couple of years back the entire project would only cost a couple of hundred million.

Where’s bankruptcy court? I want to get in line.

Not because I’m actually going broke. I’m just thinking it might be a way to move closer to Vancouver’s downtown waterfront.

Yes, I’m musing about getting on the Olympic Athletes’ Village social housing list. It’s quite the deal.

A few days ago, I had a tour of the $1-billion Olympic village. Sadly, I’ll never afford the $6-million penthouses. But the City of Vancouver’s brain trust has managed to build us some of the slickest social housing on the planet.

As you may have heard, Vancouver’s taxpayers now face a $110-million bill for 252 units of “affordable housing.” That’s $77 million over budget — or about $436,000 a unit.

But it’s more, really. Add in the approximately $40 million in free city land and you can pretty much count on Olympic social housing costing $595,000 apiece, or about $540 a square foot. That’s at least double normal cost.

As you might expect, our Olympic social housing is something to behold. I viewed a south-facing, one-bedroom on the ground floor, with 12-foot ceilings and panoramic windows looking out onto a street 100 metres from the water.

Opinion
Barry Artiste, Now Public Contributor

You know, I was tempted to include my No Shit Sherlock Photo into this story, but decided against it, as it is far from humourous.

With Attorney General Wally Oppal, our Head Judge announcing this week on February 16, 2009 that his department will be laying off 100 staffers in the prosecutors office speaks volumes on the British Columbia's when they spout useless rhetoric in their obvious flaccid response in fighting crime! What with seems like a gangland hit a week, certainly stinks in Wally Ministry! Time for some splain'in Lucy! Time to give Wally the Heave Ho as well, as many citizens are screaming mad with BCs Revolving Door Justice.

British Columbia's new Title as a World Crime Superpower is nothing to be proud of and certainly speaks volumes of our Government Leadership and Ineffective Justice System in this province who have allowed the criminal enterprise to propagate, just in time for the 2010 Olympics, and we wonder why security for the Olympics once estimated a scant year ago at a 140 million is now close to a Billion dollars of taxpayers money!

Many on Now Public had read my countless articles on this issue of an ineffective Justice Systems catch and release programs and a government who throws money to police to stop it.  Police may catch the criminals, but it is the incompetent BC Courts, Judges and Justice system which releases the Criminals back onto the streets faster than the Police can arrest them again, and again and again.

Is it any wonder frustrated Police Officers lose it, and beat the crap out of repeat criminals, when the Officers know their efforts are for nothing.  Officers are meant to protect us, but cannot if the Justice system releases criminals back into society to do us harm.

One aspect of an ineffective Justice System will be citizens taking Vigilante Justice into their own hands, resulting in more lawlessness. Presnetly we are known in Law Enforcement Circle North American wide as the "True Wild West of  Lawlessness".

Surrey BC, for instance is North America's Number #1 Car Theft Capital.

Surrey also has terrorist elements who have threatened the Mayor over her disapproval over their Terrorist Bent.

Only in British Columbia has this resulted in No Action against this well known group deemed terrorist ties by our Federal Government. One wonders if this same Terrorist Organization were living in the USA and made similar life threats against any American Mayor or Bureaucrat, that the entire US military and Law Enforcement community would not immediately swoop down upon them, and make them disappear permanently.

Only British Columbia deserves the Distinction of  "Nancy British Columbia."

Miami, once the crime capital of the world, was a mecca of criminal cocaine activity, an activity which saw drug money building a city to unimaginable proportions as Criminal Organizations had no way to launder their drug money without getting the attention of a watchful US government, this pumped their Drug Money amounting to Billions of dollars into construction projects and new businesses at every street corner, while politicians knew the deal, looked the other way.

Anyone who lives in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland can certainly see the Miami similarities of money infusion into cities in the lower mainland, unlimited construction projects at every turn. People, especially those new to Canada with no appreciable amount of employment income living beyond their means in 1 million dollar homes, Does  this not strike anyone as unusual?

Of course it seems Realtors have no problem in accepting Cash offers, no questions asked.  I wonder of anyone else but criminals have that much walking around money?

Our Ports have dock workers ranging from Hell's Angels to other criminal elements, yet when the Government wanted to perform Security and Criminal Background checks on people employed in our Ports offloading cargo, the Union protested and the Government backed down.

I see it everyday in my profession and wonder if Politicians of every level are Blind, or just not caring about the Criminal activity in this province.

One video, one should rent is "Cocaine Cowboys", how Miami came to be because of the influx of  Drug money and  make a comparison and see how Vancouver is faring as Miami's equal.

Certainly when Politicians state that British Columbia, in particular "Vancouver is the Best place in the World to live".   They are certainly correct from a Criminal's Perspective!

And when 2010 Olympics hit this Province, it is only going to get worse People, cause after the Olympics those Criminal organizations who visit here, will look at our Non existent court and justice system, and will decide to make British Columbia their home base, it will be far worse than you can imagine!  Mark my words!

How B.C. became a world crime superpower16/05/2008 5:15:20 PM

By JASON KIRBY AND NANCY MACDONALD

Forget forestry or fishing. B.C.'s big, multi-billion-dollar growth industry is crime. And business is booming.By almost any measure it was a thriving enterprise, with subsidiaries in eight countries and a flourishing distribution business. Even more impressive, it was run out of Vancouver, a city that's seen many head offices disappear over the years. And with its strong sales, the venture would easily have been considered one of British Columbia's largest private companies. That is, if the operation at the heart of it all wasn't a criminal syndicate trading in marijuana, cocaine, heroin, guns and real estate.

In December, officers from the RCMP and Vancouver Police Department showed off the results of a 14-month investigation called Project E-Paragon. Working with police in the U.S. and Australia, officers seized $168 million worth of drugs, along with luxury homes, exotic vehicles, millions in cash and weapons. More than 100 people were arrested worldwide, including the alleged ringleader, 50-year-old Yong Long Ye of Vancouver. The allegations regarding the crime ring have not been proven in court, but police believe they've broken up an incredibly complex and profitable operation. And if Canadians are inclined to believe this was a one-off scheme, an aberration to the postcard-perfect image British Columbia projects to the world, think again. There are lots more, we don't have a shortage of targets, says RCMP Supt. Doug Kiloh, of the combined special forces enforcement unit in Vancouver.

Consider, for a moment, just a few figures that show the size and scope of the crime industry in B.C.:

• There are an estimated 20,000 marijuana grow ops in houses across the province, and many thousands more hidden in the mountains and valleys of the interior. It's conservatively estimated that marijuana is an industry with revenues of $5 billion to $7 billion a year.

• In the last few years, according to the Canadian Border Services Agency, more than $1 billion worth of cocaine has been seized at borders in the Pacific region. One media report last fall found the amount of cocaine recovered at B.C.'s borders more than tripled in the previous two years.

• The province is the main port of entry for chemicals used in the manufacture of drugs such as methamphetamine and ecstasy, while B.C.-based Asian gangs are the largest suppliers of ecstasy to Canada and the U.S.

• In the last year there have been roughly two dozen gangland slayings in the Vancouver region. The number of homicides in B.C.'s Lower Mainland in the first four months of this year was nearly three times that of Toronto. And when Maclean's recently looked at Canada's most dangerous cities using data from Statistics Canada, 11 of the top 20 were located in B.C. Meanwhile the number of gangs operating in the province has jumped from less than 10 a decade ago to 129.

Add it all up, and you can't help but see British Columbia for what it is - a key hub in the world of international organized crime. For all its natural beauty and its Birkenstock reputation, police now put Vancouver on par with New York and Los Angeles when they talk of cities in the grip of criminal syndicates. By some estimates, criminal activity amounts to roughly seven per cent of the province's total economy. Though hard and fast numbers about the size of organized crime are impossible to determine, it's safe to say that alongside construction and tourism, criminal activity is one of B.C.'s strongest growth industries. We can quibble about a billion dollars here or a billion dollars there, says Darryl Plecas, a criminology professor at the University College of the Fraser Valley. But the bottom line is there's no question this is a multi-billion [dollar] industry. And as Western Canada positions itself to be North America's most important commercial corridor to Asia, with the much-heralded Pacific Gateway initiative, criminal gangs are poised to expand their operations in a huge way. Crime is big business in B.C., and business, unfortunately, is booming.

Liberal leader tells Obama Canada concerned about Khadr

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Obama wisely sidestepped the issue Liberal "One Trick Pony" Leader Ignatieff  brought up about Canada's Terrorist Omar Khadr!   To which Ignatieff replied, when the Liberals take over the country, they will drop on Bended Knee and serve Master Obama.  I am sure Obama was thinking, "If you ever Get Elected" I'll go out and Buy Lottery Tickets!

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff said Thursday he raised the case of Canadian Omar Khadr in his meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama at Ottawa International Airport.

Ignatieff told CBC News that Obama was "glad to know" Canadian parties were concerned about Khadr, the only Westerner remaining in detention at the U.S. Naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Obama said his administration is reviewing all the cases of the individuals who are still being held at Guantanamo.

Gang violence will take years to conquer, says president of polic

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Though the President of Chiefs of Police is earnest in his plan to eradicate Gangs, one thing clearly missing in this plan by municipal mayors is a call to the Federal Government to implement immediate deportation of any convicted Gang Members and their families (who know of their kids gang affiliation) from Canada.  Any Canadians convicted of gang crimes recieve no bail, no credit for time served and go to prison for so long, once they are released they will be using a walker.  That will be a deterrent when gangs learn their families as well face deportation as well, cause many family members know all too well what their kids are doing. For Canadian Gang Members, knowing they will never see the light of day outside prison and perform hard labour will be a deterrent.  My ideal would be Military Prisons like Gitmo, as compared to the luxury of our mainstream prisons.

http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Gang+violence+will+take+years+conquer+says+president+police+chiefs+association/1308245/story.html Gang violence will take years to conquer, says president of police chiefs' association
By Jonathan Fowlie and Kim Bolan, Vancouver Sun

The Lower Mainland is “years away” from solving the problem of gang violence, a senior police officer said Thursday. But regional mayors drew up a wish list of things they’d like the federal and provincial governments to do sooner than later. “I feel like we’re going to make some headway in the next while, but to be honest, we’ve got a long way to go,” said Abbotsford Police Chief Bob Rich, who is also president of the British Columbia Association of Municipal Chiefs of Police.

Rich said police haven’t had the resources needed to tackle the gang problem. “I honestly don’t think the level of response has been appropriate to the size of the problem,” he said, adding that additional resources announced last week by Premier Gordon Campbell would help.

Metro Vancouver mayors, hosted by Surrey’s Dianne Watts, drew up an 11-point action plan. Most of the points are beyond municipal control and will have to be addressed by the federal and provincial governments.

Appeal court overturns drug, gun convictions over police mistakes

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Two time convicted Drug Supplier gets his conviction overturned over semantics by a Moronic Judge who despite this guy was convicted of the exact same offence finds this Drug Supplier Innocent, because Police mistakenly tresspassed.  Certainly shows what is wrong with our Crime and Punishment Laws when a minute discrepancy throws out evidence, regardless of the mountain of evidence against this guy! One wonder if Immigration Canada can pay a visit on his past record and show him the errors of his ways as they send him packing back to Asia!

VANCOUVER - A man convicted of cultivating marijuana and possessing a .357 revolver and stun gun has had his convictions overturned on appeal.

Three judges of the B.C. Court of Appeal allowed the appeal of Michael Donald Ling, finding police made serious mistakes while executing a search warrant and gathering evidence.

“In my view, in this case, to admit the evidence gathered pursuant to this warrant would bring the administration of justice into disrepute in the minds of right-thinking citizens. I would exclude the evidence and in the circumstances enter an acquittal on the counts before the court,” Justice Robert Bauman ruled in a judgment released Thursday, with Justices Ian Donald and Carol Huddart in agreement.

Ling, 48, who lived at Christina Lake, was convicted in Grand Forks Provincial Court of cultivating marijuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking, unlawfully possessing a .357 revolver, which is a restricted weapon, and possessing a prohibited weapon, a stun gun.

He was also convicted of improperly storing a 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition found at Ling’s residence.

Five arrested after dramatic morning rescue of kidnapped teenager

Barry Artiste Op.Ed

Same Shit, Different Diaper, in what our Flaccid Government Calls our fair City, but many Retort as one of the Bestest Places to get Murdered or Kidnapped in the World!

Vancouver police have arrested five kidnapping suspects after a dramatic morning rescue of a teenaged hostage.

The 18-year-old student from China was uninjured as strike force members pulled over a vehicle in which he was riding at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Burnaby.

Deputy chief Doug LePard said the young man was targeted when he was snatched from his West End residence Sunday. The kidnappers called the teen’s parents in China.

“During the investigation, we identified several residences in Burnaby we believed to be associated with the kidnapping and identified numerous suspects that were placed under surveillance,” LePard said. “Over the course of the next four days, officers worked 24 hours a day to identify a stronghold where the hostage was being held.

Police threw massive resources at solving the case, including wiretaps, surveillance and talking to officials in China.

U.S. media struggle through Obama visit

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Certainly one reporter was correct in stating, This is the most exciting event in Canada's History of History, judging by the Hype over President Obama's Visit.

One nice aspect was Obama stating to our Governor General was that he loved Canada and was touched by Canadians reponse to his visit.  In addition Obama stated if things do not go so well in the United States during his term as President, Obama stated to our Governor General , he'd pack up the family wagon and move to Canada!  Obama also broke protocol and made a side trip to the Historic byward market to shake hands with the crowd, play tourist and buy some baked goods and souvenirs for his family.  I guess Ottawa's wintry weather made an impression on him, watching people skating on the Rideau Canal, touted to be the worlds longest skating rink at over a 50 miles long.

WASHINGTON — One CNN anchor had apparently never seen the Mounties before, and those who recognized one of Canada’s most iconic national symbols noted the absence of their horses.

Others seemed enthralled by how wintry Ottawa was, while some on-air personalities struggled mightily to pronounce “Michaelle Jean” and “charge d’affaires.”

Police announced yesterday a man walking along a Vancouver Island shoreline made the grisly discovery on a beach near Kulleet Bay, on the island's east coast. RCMP in Ladysmith, B.C., are investigating.

France claims historic Great Lakes wreck

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Maritime Law titled "Finders Keepers" is in effect, regardless what France states in their quest to recover a 400 year old ship which sank in US waters in the 17th century.

It is an amazing find after all these years, especially in the Great Lakes, many do not know that the Great Lakes can preserve sunken wooden ships almost to pristine condition as oxygen, cold, and lack of wood eating worms make it an ideal place to recover and document shipwrecks.

Certainly I and many look forward to a Documentary, in the National Geographic if it is ever made.

France claims historic Great Lakes wreck
By Randy Boswell, Canwest News ServiceFebruary 17, 2009

The French government has formally moved to lay claim to one of Canadian history's most important shipwrecks — if, as a U.S. relic hunter believes, the 330-year-old Griffon has been discovered at the bottom of Lake Michigan.

The Griffon, built in 1679 near today's Niagara Falls, Ont., by French explorer Rene-Robert de La Salle, became the first sailing ship on the Great Lakes but was lost in a storm that year on its maiden voyage.

In 2004, U.S. wreck diver Steve Libert discovered remnants of what he suspects is a 17th-century shipwreck at the north end of Green Bay, near the boundary waters of Michigan and Wisconsin.

BC teen Shoots and Kills Home Invader: East Vancouver

A BC teen with a gun to his head by 2 assailants who mistook the home for someone else, had the tables turned on them, after the criminal shot the teens brother, the frightened teen wrestled the gun away from one of the Home invaders and shot him dead, as the other criminal escaped.

Tragic as it is that this Teen had to take a life, it shows when faced with death, adrenaline and survival takes over.

Bottom line the Teen is a Hero, saving his Brothers life, by snuffing out a criminal otherwise who would serve little time in jail or get out on bail and saving BC Taxpayers the grief of a long and useless trial.

UNITED NATIONS -- Suspected kidnappers of two Canadian diplomats on a United Nations mission to Niger have set a "prisoner exchange" as a condition for their release, Canwest News Service has learned.

This emerges as al-Qaeda's wing in North Africa Tuesday claimed responsibility for holding Robert Fowler and his Foreign Affairs aide Louis Guay -- as well as four Western tourists kidnapped in Niger's neighbour Mali, near the border between the two countries.

The "prisoner exchange" demand has complicated efforts to free the Canadians, who disappeared Dec. 14 along with their locally hired driver, Soumana Mounkaila.

As excitement builds for Barack Obama's first state visit to Canada on Thursday, so does the pressure on its frantic schedule.

At home, Mr. Obama is being pushed to address the environmental fallout from Alberta's oil sands or the injustices of our softwood lumber exports. Stephen Harper, on the other hand, faces calls to bring up the status of 22-year-old accused terrorist Omar Khadr or U.S. designs on oil deposits in the Arctic.

But a clenched-fist approach will not benefit Canada, diplomats say, especially when a profound economic crisis trumps all other issues.

British Columbian Men are Most Flaccid in Canada : UBC Study

British Columbians biggest users of erectile dysfunction medication

By Pamela Fayerman, Vancouver Sun February 17, 2009

B.C. residents spend 25 per cent less per capita on medicine than the rest of Canada — except when it comes to prescription drugs for erectile dysfunction. We spend the most on those. A new University of B.C. report on prescription-drug spending does not explain whether the greater use of drugs such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra is due to a higher proportion of men in B.C. with impotence.

Experts interviewed Tuesday said they thought it might have to do with cultural factors.

For example, such drugs are used “recreationally” in the homosexual community. “We know they are used in the gay community as performance-enhancing drugs, so that’s a theory to explain the higher spending here, but I have no data to back that up,” said Alan Cassels, a drug policy researcher at the University of Victoria.

Should citizen-journalists be paid?  As sites like NowPublic and other spread their sea legs into the new world of web 2.0, questions begin to arrise on paying writers and photographers for content or maintain a since of objectivity to report real news and not tabloid type articles that drive large amounts of traffic to sites.  Here is an artcikle from the Daily Telegraph that asks some of the important questions being raised in Crowd Powered media and other Citizen journalism sites.  Canadians are website are especially stressed as the net nuetrality police may stifle growth by causing a US fairness doctine type program on content.

Is paying our photographers and reporters against the spirit of citizen-journalism? It's something that we are occasionally challenged on, but we think is emphatically not the case.

Given the success of Wikis, Creative Commons and open-source, it is tempting to see the future of journalism in free-to-edit, unpaid websites. These sites, such as NowPublic, are popular but have been criticized for being opinion-driven and derivative. You can judge for yourself the standard of articles on such sites, but what is undeniable is that only a small minority of stories are based on first-hand new information. Original journalism is in short supply.

In recent years, virtually all major news organizations have incorporated some user-generated content into their publications, programmes and websites. CNN has i-Report, the BBC asks users to Have Your Say, and Reuters has teamed up with Yahoo to feed it citizen-produced content. However, these projects are dependent on photographers giving away their content for free, whether in charity or ignorance. Their business model is based on citizens’ willingness to surrender their copyright.

Quebec separatist army claims victory

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Considering the terrible state of the Economy, a few Crotch Monkeys, threw a Wrench into a Re-enactment of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, a historic battle which helped in part form the United States and Canada, as well as make Quebec what some say is a "Country within a Country. Being from Quebec City myself and being a Quebecer, a victory may have been won by these Idiots, but at the Expense and a Huge Loss to the People of Quebec in terms of Quebec Pride and Fortitude against all Odds in the Battle, not to mention Tourist Dollars and showcasing to the World that Nonsensical Babblings from a small group of Separatistes armed with an Internet Petition did what the British could no do! Stop History in the Making!

The Battle of the Plains of Abraham was not just French against the British, but the Quebecers who fought against the British were Irish, Scottish, English, French, German, First Nations, etc, and yes hundreds of Colonial Americans, including Benedict Arnold who were tired of English Oppression.

Granted, we lost the Battle, but won the War, but the bigger picture many fail to realise, is today we are here and British Army is not.

So in reality, who really won the Battle of the Plains of Abraham?  We did! Making our two countries one of the most desirable places to live while other countries look on with envy.

As for the Separatistes, their Tunnel Vision certainly shows how moronic they really are!

A ragtag army of Quebec separatists, armed only with Internet petitions and menacing e-mails, appears to have triumphed where the French army failed 250 years ago, preventing another British victory on the Plains of Abraham.

Following weeks of mounting controversy that last week reached Parliament, the National Battlefields Commission is to announce today a revised plan to commemorate the anniversary of the historic 1759 battle.

LONDON — An oral vaccine packed into bacteria found in dairy products like milk and cheese protected mice from the anthrax bacteria, suggesting a pill could replace injections for humans, researchers said on Monday.

"Normally, you can't eat vaccines because the digestive process in the stomach destroys them, so vaccines are administered by needle," Todd Klaenhammer, a researcher at North Carolina State University in the United States who co-led the study, said in a statement.

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
Course this Group of Wonks are quite Mum on the Subject of Human Shields, Suicide Bombers killing innocents, beheading of non combatants, not to mention IEDs etc.

The Rules of War applies to Armies, and as far as I am concerned when it comes to Terrorists, the Gloves are Off!

If these Twits were ever caught by a Terrorists, I am sure their valiant protests would be cut short at the end of a sword!

By Eliane Engeler, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS GENEVA -

The United States and other countries that used torture in the so-called war on terror seriously damaged respect for basic human rights, an international panel of legal experts said Monday. The eight-member panel, led by former Irish president Mary Robinson, said the three-year investigation found that the damage to human rights law was more severe than they had expected.

Canadian "Charter of Rights" Can't help Accused Terrorists!

Barry Artiste Op/Ed
Using Canada as a Country of Convienience, certainly proves futile for Terrorists, accused or convicted that Canada for the most part aint Nobodys Fool!  But one can be sure if the Liberal Party were in Power, Documents by the Truckload would be couriered to GITMO, posthaste.

Thank God, Canadians voted to keep our Conservative "No Nonsense" Government to run this country, otherwise we would be hooped!

Charter can't help accused terrorists
By THE CANADIAN PRESS TORONTO --

Two former residents of Montreal detained in Guantanamo Bay for alleged terrorist links lost their bid yesterday to gain access to Canadian intelligence documents because the men don't have a strong connection to Canada.

In turning down their request for the material, a Federal Court judge ruled the Charter of Rights and Freedoms doesn't apply to Ahcene Zemiri and Mohamedou Slahi.

"The charter, an integral part of Canada's supreme law, is a Canadian instrument enacted to enshrine and protect the fundamental rights of Canadians and those finding themselves within Canada's territory," Judge Edmond Blanchard wrote in his decision. "Its extraterritorial reach is exceptional and limited."

Zemiri and Slahi are fighting civil actions in the U.S. to be released from Guantanamo Bay, where they have been held since 2002.

Canadian Minister called 'professional whore' and Anti Muslim!

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

I know Jason from our Reform Days, and I can assure you Jason will just say "Sticks and Stones will break my Bones, but your Words will Never hurt me" On the other hand, that ah annual $447,297.00 for your organization?
If I am a Professional Whore as you state, then here is a History Lesson for ya!  "Whores Don't Pay!" Sooooooooooooooooo.....Guess you're SOL!

Boy, Who didn't see that one coming?

Funds lost over hatred. Minister called 'professional whore'

By ELIZABETH THOMPSON, NATIONAL BUREAU

Immigration Minister Jason Kenney is poised to slash federal funding to Canada's largest Arabic group after its president called him a "professional whore" for supporting Israel.

In an exclusive interview with Sun Media from London, England, where he is to speak today at an international conference on anti-Semitism, Kenney said groups are free within legal bounds to say what they like. But groups whose leaders say intolerant or hateful things shouldn't get taxpayer funding.

"We should not be rewarding those who express views that are contrary to Canada's best liberal values of tolerance and mutual respect."

One of those groups, said Kenney, is the Canadian Arab Federation whose president Khaled Mouammar called him a "professional whore" after Kenney criticized the presence of Hezbollah and Hamas flags at anti-Israel rallies in Toronto.

Woman gunned down in Surrey shooting, child escapes death!

Photos

No footage found.

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

News of a woman gunned down with her 4 year old boy have many safely assume the dead woman to be the mother.  Outrage among citizens call for action against what many say is rhetoric by an inactive justice system.  Many are calling for the Attorney General Wally Oppals Resignation and a revamp of our lacklustre justice system.

One should be reminded though, tragic as it is, the current state of affairs has been going on for close to a decade,  A decade of voters who time and time again votes for testicular deficient politicians, whose only goal it seems is collecting a hefty paycheque for little work. A society where complacency seems to be the norm, until it personally affects those directly.

This society has been given to uprising and protests when governments talk of getting tough on crime, resulting in politicians listening to the masses, despite their convictions and better judgement.

If citizens of BC want change, then you have to put your signature where your mouth is, as it seems lives speak louder than your vocal protests which go unheard.

There will be an election in the spring, so canvass your  political candidate to publicly state serious time for serious crimes, and no bartering for jail sentences. Failure to do so will have us revisit this scenario for the next decade to come.

The victim was caught in a hail of bullets in the 96th Street and 148th area of Surrey, which left the 4-year-old boy apparently traumatized, but otherwise unharmed.

Just after 11:00 a.m. Monday, CTV Chopper 9 captured video of a white Cadillac sedan covered in a yellow tarpaulin, and parked on the sidewalk.

Police have confirmed the victim is a woman and a four-year-old boy was sitting in the back of the car at the time of the shooting.

RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Team (IHIT) said he was "amazed" that the boy was unharmed. "He seems to be doing just fine," he said.

He really is The TERMINATOR!  Schwarzengger to send out 20,000 pink slips. California as well as 3 other states are having severe revenue problems that include holding back tax refunds and delaying government paychecks.

In addition to shutting down public-works projects, Schwarzenegger administration moves toward massive state layoffs as legislators continue to seek the one GOP vote needed to pass a budget. By Michael Rothfeld and Jordan Rau
4:49 PM PST, February 16, 2009 Reporting from Sacramento -- In an apparent effort to increase pressure on lawmakers negotiating an end to California's fiscal crisis, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is preparing to send pink slips to 20,000 state workers.

The governor had delayed sending the layoff notices since Friday, hoping lawmakers would soon approve a package to close a nearly $41-billion budget gap. But despite intense negotiations since Saturday, Schwarzenegger and the Senate Democratic majority have been unable to secure a third Republican vote for a plan that includes more than $14 billion in new taxes.

Zakaria: The Canadian Solution

Barry Artiste Op/EdAgree or not, the man has a point, a point Obamarama could well be advised to follow.  America has always been a "Can Do" Society, While Canada has always been a "Wait and See" Society, much to our detriment in the past.

Now in the Global Economic Meltdown the World over, one can say Canada Trumps for once on the World Economic Stage with it's "Wait and See" philosophy!

The legendary editor of The New Republic, Michael Kinsley, once held a "Boring Headline Contest" and decided that the winner was "Worthwhile Canadian Initiative." Twenty-two years later, the magazine was rescued from its economic troubles by a Canadian media company, which should have taught us Americans to be a bit more humble. Now there is even more striking evidence of Canada's virtues. Guess which country, alone in the industrialized world, has not faced a single bank failure, calls for bailouts or government intervention in the financial or mortgage sectors. Yup, it's Canada. In 2008, the World Economic Forum ranked Canada's banking system the healthiest in the world. America's ranked 40th, Britain's 44th.

Prominent Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife
By Gene Warner News Staff Reporter

Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.
