New Study Proves Many Left Wing Environmentalists are Clueless Sheep!

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Satire with Seeds of truth.

Albert Einstein, perhaps said it best, " The only thing more dangerous than ignorance is arrogance".

Certainly if Einstein were alive to today and witnessing Left Wing Eco Nazi's he would shake his head and state "My point exactly"! A new controversial study by Penn and Teller Institute has uncovered Concrete Proof, Left Wing Environmentalists are Clueless to the Concept when it comes to the Environment, leaving many to wonder that those who blindly follow the Bandwagon of Environmentalism are like so many Lemmings running head long off a cliff of mindless stupidity.

One would think anyone takes up the Environmental Baton to make this world a better place would have a semblence of intelligence and basic high school chemistry.

Otherwise in my opinion, you are a follower who knows not what Environmentalism is all about, signing petitions and not knowing the score is par for the course, as many in the recent federal election salivated at the bit in their quest to join the Green Party or Stephane Dion's Green Shift Plan.

As we all know, Canadians spoke, regaling the Green Party to Zero Status, who are now over a million dollars in debt in their failed bid to join their cause which had no substance.

The Liberal Party are also in good company with the Green Party, as they are close to bankruptcy with their Green Shift Plan, and the number of their elected members to parliament is at the lowest level since Confederation over a hundred years ago.

Many Canadians when asking politicians and their supporters about their Green Plan and Environment were met by grim silence.

If they were to get an answer it was mostly rhetoric spoon fed to the public in the hopes the public would take to the streets in protest for Governments to do something to save the World like so many Chicken Littles. Yet asking Politicians, Environmentalist, protestors what specific details of the environment they were protesting about, usually was met with a blanket statement, hence leaving me to believe they had not a clue what they were protesting about.

What was really disconcerting was Politicians had all the problems down pat, but no workable solutions, costs or consequences.

In this day and age and with internet and research using search engines at one's fingertips, it boggles the mind how many blindly Bandwaggon without a second thought to the consequences.

Hitler, Saddam, Stalin and most dictators relied on people like these to get into power with disastrous results.  Is this a repeat of the past to the future of our country? The blind (Left Wing) leading the blind of our two countries?

Many Polls had previously stated North America voters are Environmentally Conscious, unfortunately this video link below, shows way to many whose Environmental sensibilities are Environmentally Unconscious.

I do forewarn Now Public readers, some of the following links use strong language which may offend, especially for those who do not like the grain of truth in frustration or dry wit and satire.

Vancouver study finds free heroin reduces crime: BC reviewing Study

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

You know I do not even know where to begin in all this, first taking blame away from addicts whose excuses for their addiction ranging from rape to murder, now have a new ally. More Heroin, and wait for it............................................it's FREE!

What's next? One can be certain there will be a study on alcoholism, Rubbies and the working Alcoholics alike who commit crimes and or murder while under the influence may also get a sympathetic judicial ear, perhaps a "Free Pass Get out of Jail Card", and to even one better, alcoholics who drink the cheap stuff, may supersize their addictions and say they are addicted to RVSP 20 year old Schotch, so they can line up for a free bottle versus the Aqua Velva they usually consume.

Currently the Supreme Court of British Columbia has struck down a ruling that now allows Transients to set up Tent Cities in our Taxpayer supported Parks and the associated litter and eyesore that follows.  I for one say, Okay send the Homeless tent people to the Supreme Court Justices home, and let them set up Tents on their Front Lawn!

Vancouver City Hall for one has a Tent City on their Doorstep, and are allowing it for fear of reprisal for special interest groups.

To that I say par for the course in Leftville BC, obviously we have a Mayor without a spine to kick some ass. Granted housing is on serious short supply, but they are doing something about it, it takes time, most hotels and rooming houses are currently being bought and renovated in large numbers by BC housing all over the city, as past tenants and slum lords who owned it before BC housing took over, let it go into ruin.

Rest assured the more FREE housing we provide the Dregs of Society from all over Canada will ride the Rails to the BC Mecca of FREE, thus a never ending cycle of more and more homeless.

We one day will be known as the City of the Free Homes for everyone, while those with families who are working menial jobs to make ends meet and need housing, will be pushed aside in favour of the Druggies and Unemployed who feel working is a Four Letter Word.

Now giving Free heroin, will just allow a Free Shooting Gallery with Cable TV instead of the city streets and back alleys. Thank Christ the Federal Conservatives under Stephen Harper got in, and let's hope The Prime Minister and the Federal Conservative state to the BC Government that any Federal Health Transfer payments they receive better not go anywhere near this FairyLand Heroin Induced program, if they wish to implement it.

Taxpayers I am sure will agree we need to nip this study in the Bud, before the British Columbia Government Bleeding Hearts in all due haste use our Taxdollars and give out Free Trips to Addicts, without having to leave the Farm. What we need is a long term incarceration of those addicted in the form of treatment to stop COLD TURKEY, job training as well.

If they refuse, then screw em, you are on your own. It is time this Province gets a Law and Order Backbone and tells everyone the Free Taxpayer Ride is over, you wants something, ya better god damn well work for it like the rest of us.

Vancouver study finds free heroin reduces crime NAOMI project reveals heroin addicts can be treated with legal painkiller

Cheryl Chan, The Province Published: Saturday, October 18, 2008

A legal painkiller called Dilaudid is more effective in treating serious heroin addiction than methadone therapy, according to a groundbreaking Canadian study.

The North American Opiate Medication Initiative, also known as NAOMI, examined the effectiveness of prescription heroin on hard-core addicts in Vancouver and Montreal, who have repeatedly failed treatment in the past.

Over a 12 to 15-month period beginning March 2007, 115 addicts in the study were prescribed medical-grade heroin, while 25 addicts were given hydromorphone or Dilaudid in a double-blind study.

A control group of 111 addicts received oral methadone. The results, released Friday, showed improved physical and psychological health, a decrease in illicit heroin use and a drop in criminal activities among all participants.

The retention rate for addicts receiving heroin or Dilaudid was 88 per cent.

All but one of the addicts receiving Dilaudid were not able to distinguish it from heroin.

Obama illegally took, "Speaker Fees" while in the General Assembly

Joe and Barack's Tax Problems.

I was stunned to see some document showing Joe the Plumbers' tax problems on my 10pm (CT)newscast on the local NBC affiliate in Chicago on Thursday night. They have very little time for any national news and they actually spent time on Joe the Plumbers' tax problems. Amazing!

But when an actual candidate — Barack Obama — released his tax returns, which on their face seemed to show an ethics violation of Illinois law, the press couldn't care less.

Just to remind you, Illinois prohibits state legislators from taking speaking fees, and Barack reported "speaking fees.":

Apparently, as an Illinois state legislator through 2004, Barack was prohibited from taking honoraria for speaking under the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act.

But what about Barack Obama’s 2000 and 2002 tax returns?

2000: On his 2000 Schedule C-EZ, Barack reported that he received $16,500 as a “Foundation director/Educational speaker.”

2001: On his 2001 Schedule C-EZ, Barack reported $98,158 from a Chicago law firm, Miner, Barnhill, for “Legal services/attorney” (and nothing for speaking).

2002: On his 2002 Schedule C, Barack reported $34,491 for “LEGAL SERVCES / SPEAKING FEES.”

These “speaking fees” are in addition to the amounts that Barack was paid as an employee, a lecturer at the University of Chicago, reported on the first page of his 1040s.

The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (apparently last changed in 1995) provides:

(5 ILCS 420/2-110)

Sec. 2-110. Honoraria.

(a) No member of the General Assembly shall accept any honorarium.

(b) As used in this Section:

"Honorarium" means a payment of money to a member of the General Assembly for an appearance or speech . . . .

I really don't blame Obama for not addressing this; he released his tax returns after all. The problem is the press, which seems to be having more trouble than usual doing its job this season.

As I've said before, the best solution to the problem is integrating the newsrooms politically.

Palin Makes Her SNL Debut

Sarah Palin walked into the lion’s den this evening and appeared on Saturday Night Live.

Tina Fey playing Palin opened up the show depicting Palin’s first press conference. After several questions from her “press corps” Fey then told the journalists gathered that she “would like to entertain everybody with some fancy pageant walking.”

The show then switches to backstage where SNL Executive Producer, Lorne Michaels is watching Fey’s performance alongside the actual Sarah Palin. She asks Michaels why he wouldn’t let her impersonate Fey on her show, “30 Rock.” Michaels joked that no one watched it anyway.

Alec Baldwin, Fey’s co-star on “30 Rock,” walked up to the two and confused Palin for Fey and  told Michaels that Fey can’t go out on stage with Palin because, “she goes against everything we stand for.”

After Michaels introduces Baldwin to Palin, he tells her that she is “much hotter in person” and Palin responds by saying that that Alec’s younger brother, “Stephen is my favorite Baldwin brother.” Stephen Baldwin is a born again Christian and a conservative Republican.

The two walk off arm in arm together before Palin comes to the podium to shout, “Live form New York it’s Saturday Night!”

Palin also popped in on “Weekend Update”  and told Seth Meyers that she decided against the sketch they practiced. Amy Poehler took the reigns and performed a hilarious, but edgy rap combining all of Palin’s greatest hits and stereotypes: the Bridge to Nowhere, seeing Russia from her house, her running mate’s smile which is described as “creepy,”  and obviously moose hunting.

Poehler was joined by cast members playing a dancing Todd Palin and eskimos while the Alaska governor sat at the desk smiling and dancing along including a back and forth with the dancing cast where Poehler raps, “When I say Obama you say Ayers. Obama! Ayers! Obama! Ayers!” referring to Palin linking the Democratic nominee to 1960’s radical William Ayers

Cindy McCain lawyer invokes Obama Drug use and Half Brother

Cindy McCain lawyer invokes Obama drug use

John Dowd, Cindy McCain's attorney, complained in a letter to New York Times executive editor Bill Keller earlier this month that the paper had scrutinized the GOP nominee's wife but not investigated matters surrounding Barack Obama including his youthful drug use.

"You have not tried to find Barack Obama's drug dealer that he wrote about in his book, Dreams of My Father," Dowd wrote in a two-page letter sent to Keller while the paper was reporting a piece about Cindy McCain.

The McCain campaign released the missive late Friday night in response to that story, to be published in the paper's Saturday edition. It's the first time anybody so closely associated with McCain has raised the issue.

Continuing the campaign's drumbeat of criticism against the Times, Dowd wrote on Oct. 1 that the paper was not covering the two candidates equally. In addition to the reference to Obama's "drug dealer," Dowd notes that the Times also has not "interviewed his poor relatives in Kenya and determined why Barack Obama has not rescued them."

After mentioning the topics, though, Dowd suggests that "none of these subjects on either side are worthy of the energy and resources of The New York Times."

Update 1600 hrs ET- Father has not been notified by police about status of his missing Son

Cole's father, Robert Puffinburger, told CNN he had not heard anything from police and was surprised to hear the Amber Alert had been deactivated.

Grandfather of kidnapped boy arrested

The grandfather of kidnapped 6-year-old Cole Puffinburger was arrested in Riverside, Calif., late Friday after Metro Police named him a person of interest.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's office said 51-year-old Clemens Fred Tinnemeyer was arrested by U.S. Marshals. He was taken to the Central Detention Center in the city of San Bernardino.

Metro Police said earlier Friday that they believed Cole's kidnapping was linked to Tinnemeyer's drug deals with Mexican nationals and that there were millions of dollars involved.

The child has not been found.

An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday after Cole was taken at gunpoint from a northeastern Las Vegas Valley home by two or three men posing as police officers. Metro Police believe that Tinnemeyer may be able to help them find the boy.

Police said they believe the men were Mexican drug dealers and that the child's kidnapping was a "message" to Tinnemeyer.

Tinnemeyer may have stolen millions of dollars from Mexican nationals, said Capt. Vincent Cannito. He declined to say whether the kidnappers had been seeking ransom for the boy.

Police said two or three Hispanic men knocked on the front door of the child's home. The mother answered the door and the men forced their way into the home. After ransacking the house, the men took Cole and left. There is no description of a vehicle and a description of one of the men say his is about 5-foot-7, weighs about 150 pounds and has long black, slicked-back hair.

Cole is 3-foot-11, weighs about 48 pounds and is wearing a black sweatshirt with blue, black and silver stars on it, black jeans, a belt and Van tennis shoes with a white stripe. He also wears silver- rimmed prescription glasses.

Anyone with information is urged to call Metro Police at 828-3111 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

Police deactivate Amber Alert for missing Nevada 6-year-old

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (CNN) — Police on Saturday deactivated an Amber Alert for a 6-year-old boy abducted Wednesday from his Las Vegas, Nevada, home in what authorities believe was a drug-related kidnapping.

The search for Cole Puffinburger has spanned the American Southwest and captured national attention. Police said he was kidnapped by three armed bandits who entered his home early Wednesday, tying up the boy’s mother and her fiance, ransacking the home and taking the child when no money was found.

It was not immediately clear why the Amber Alert, which originated in Nevada and later was expanded nationwide, was deactivated. Police are planning a 5 p.m. ET press conference, according to Nevada’s Amber Alert Web site.

THE CYBER THREAT TODAY, FBI Says, "Major Attacks on the Rise"

Crooks and spies using the Internet to commit crimes against U.S. businesses and to attack government networks are getting more sophisticated, and the increasing number of such crimes not only impacts the economy but threatens national security.

That’s the message Shawn Henry, recently appointed head of our Cyber Division, delivered to a group of reporters on Wednesday, revealing that we have thousands of open cases into cyber crimes and organized cyber attacks and detailing our strategy to protect the nation’s networks.

One case in point: We joined our international partners yesterday in announcing a major takedown of a transnational criminal network that was buying and selling stolen financial information through an online forum known as “Dark Market.”

“The business of the United States is done on the Internet,” said Henry, a veteran cyber crime investigator. And the information that flows electronically 24/7 is increasingly the target of not only identity thieves and scammers, but organized crime groups, terrorists, and overseas governments.

“There are a number of countries who have an interest in stealing information from the United States,” Henry said, explaining that as many as two dozen nations have taken an “aggressive interest” in penetrating our networks. In the past year, he added, “the malicious activity has become much more prevalent.”

Malicious activity could come in the form of attacks that deny access to websites, that compromise sensitive information, or that introduce “botnets” that spread viruses and covertly co-opt computers to carry out data theft.

“There are a number of countries who have an interest in stealing information from the United States,” Henry said, explaining that as many as two dozen nations have taken an “aggressive interest” in penetrating our networks.

New groups of hackers—virtual gangs—are a growing threat as well, banding together to pool their expertise and carry out coordinated cyber attacks. Henry pointed out that in years gone by, if a gang wanted to rob a bank, it needed crooks with various skills—safe cracker, get-away driver, look-out, etc. That’s essentially what we’re seeing in the cyber world today, only these virtual gang members have never met in the physical world. “There are organized groups that are very successful,” Henry said.

The 3 Ps. To address the rising threat, the Cyber Division has a threefold strategic plan—“Prioritize, Proactive, Partnerships.”

By prioritizing our efforts, we can go after the most critical threats. Being proactive means adopting the same time-tested investigative techniques that have been so successful in our physical crime investigations—the use of informants, electronic surveillance, and placement of undercover agents to penetrate and dismantle virtual criminal operations.

The third “P”—partnerships—means building even stronger relationships with law enforcement agencies worldwide. He said we’ve worked with such countries as Great Britain, Canada, Russia, and Turkey to swap best practices and techniques. We’ve also sent agents to Romania to work with law enforcement there, leading to nearly 100 arrests in cyber crime cases representing “tens of millions of dollars” in losses, Henry said.

And the Internet Crime Complaint Center, or IC3—a partnership between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center—continues to assist state and local law enforcement in fighting cyber crime. Since its establishment in 2000, IC3 has received more than a million complaints. In the last couple of years, there’s been an “uptick” in the number of reports, according to Henry. Lately, they’re coming in at the rate of nearly 20,000 per month.

Colin Powell to Endorse Obama, Powell Appears on Meet the Press

The net is a buzz this weekend that Colin Powell will endorse Senator Obama for president on Sunday's Meet the Press.  There was a similar net buzz just prior to the Democratic National Convention, that Colin Powell would be a speaker at the Democratic National Convention and endorse Obama.  The former did not happen as predicted. One will have to watch Meet the Press this weekend to find the  answer.

Powell did endorse Obama on Meet The Press as predicted by the net buzz begining on Thursday.  Below are some of the folks who had received some sources or just predictions when Powell was scheduled for Meet the Press with just 16 days until the election

Here are a few sources around the web with their predictions:

And there are reports that former Secretary of State Colin Powell - who served the last three Republican presidents including George W Bush - may come out in support of the Democrat too.

Chris Mathews speculates on Powell endorcement

Chris Mathews speculating on the possibility that Colin Powell will endorse Barack on one of the upcoming Sunday talk shows.

Colin Powell Endorsement: Did Willie Call it?

The big buzz is about that ''Meet the Press'' appearance Sunday starring former Secretary of State Colin Powell -- and whether he'll drop a big announcement just two weeks before the election.

So may we remind you here of a column written by former San Francisco Mayor -- and now Chronicle colleague -- Willie Brown last summer?

His take:

''Here's a prediction: Colin Powell is going to endorse Barack Obama.

Colin Powell probably going to endorse Obama on Sunday” post

If Powell, retired chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, does endorse, he blesses Obama as a capable leader who is able to manage critical national security and foreign policy matters. Though his push for the Iraq war somewhat tarnished his stellar reputation as a respected military man, Powell, who served three Republican presidents, remains popular. His support for Obama could sway moderates, males, in particular, and working class whites who might be buying into the GOP’s line that Obama isn’t patriotic or American enough.

Will Powell Endorse Obama?

Colin Powell appears Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," and all of Washington is champing at the bit to know if he'll back Barack Obama.

His support for Obama could sway moderates, males, in particular, and working class whites who might be buying into the GOP's line that Obama isn't patriotic or American enough.

Is Powell about to get off the fence?

The political world -- well, parts of it -- are abuzz today with speculation that Colin Powell might endorse Democrat Barack Obama on Sunday.

Powell, who served as President Bush's secretary of state, is to appear on NBC's "Meet the Press," prompting some to suggest that he might use that platform to make the announcement.

Powell has kept his choice close to the vest; just before the Democratic National Convention in late August, he batted down rumors that he would appear there to endorse Obama.

Powell Has indicated in the past, He would not endorse

Powell has consulted with both Obama and McCain, and the general’s camp has indicated in the past that he would not endorse.

Robert Novak wrote this article shortly before he died- The Obamacons Who Worry McCain

What is an "Obamacon?" The phrase surfaced in January to describe British conservatives entranced by Barack Obama. On March 13 the American Spectator broadened the term to cover all "conservative supporters" of the Democratic presidential candidate. Their ranks, though growing, feature few famous people. But looming on the horizon are two big potential Obamacons: Colin Powell and Chuck Hagel.

Neither Powell, first-term secretary of state for George W. Bush, nor Hagel, retiring after two terms as a U.S. senator from Nebraska, has endorsed Obama. Hagel probably never will. Powell probably will enter Obama's camp at a time of his own choosing. The best bet is that neither of the two, both of whom supported President Bush in 2000 and 2004, will back John McCain in 2008.

Finally, Powell appeared on CNNs Larry King Live and said this

And I will ultimately vote for the person I believe brings to the American people the kind of vision the American people want to see for the next four years. A vision that reaches out to the rest of the world, that starts to restore confidence in America, that starts to restore favorable ratings to America.

Frankly, we’ve lost a lot in recent years. I am going to be looking for the candidate that seems to me to be leading a party that is fully in sync with the candidate, and a party that will also reflect America’s goodness and America’s vision. And I will be looking for the candidate that I think will be the most competent candidate. The one who can deal with problems and bring the government together with the Congress to solve these problems.”  (Source: CNN)

ACORN Launches New Site to Fight Smears

By Albert N. Milliron, Editor, Politisite.com, Iron Mill Interactive Media, inc.

ACORN has developed a new site to fight,  what it calls, smears.  They pointed to Fox news as an outlet who is perpetrating false information about the Group.  ACORN says that most of what is being reported on Television comes from ACORNs own quality assurance programs, that picks up registrations that appear to be problematic and let the board of elections know the potential problems.  They related to reporters at a press conference that they are required by law to turn overs all registrations, even potential fraudulent ones, to the Board of elections.  ACORN wants the country to have a resource where one can go to understand the process and attack the false allegations by outlets like Fox News who in a 48 hour period mentioned their group over 300 times.  See Fight the Smears

From Friday, Oct. 10 through Monday, Oct. 13, Fox News Channel mentioned ACORN an astounding 342 times.  This is by far the most attention ACORN has ever gotten from Fox, or any news outlet for that matter, and it has been unrelentingly negative, full of smears and accusations of ACORN's involvement in everything from destroying the world's economy to undermining elections here at home.  And on Oct. 15th, during the last Presidential debate, Senator McCain claimed that "ACORN is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.".  Wow!

Needless to say, none of it is true. Far from it. As you know, ACORN has been at the forefront of the fight to end the kind of financial practices, called "predatory lending," that contributed to the world financial crisis. ACORN has also just completed a record-setting voter registration drive that helped 1.3 million low-income people, people of color, and young people register to vote.

In fact, that's why these attacks keep coming.  Conservatives in the Republican Party and the John McCain Campaign and their allies in the right-wing bamboozlement chorus are desperately afraid that the new voters ACORN has brought into the system will hold them accountable for their economic failures.

We know they won't stop.

But neither will we.

We've launched a fight-back center as part of our flagship website, ACORN.org, called The Real ACORN.  The purpose of The Real ACORN is to showcase ACORN's historic voter registration effort as well as its consistent presence as a voice for working families for 38 years.  Designed to highlight the efforts of ACORN members, leaders and staff to fight for the issues that matter most to families working hard to make ends meet, the section's centerpiece is entitled "The Truth About ACORN" to set the record straight on such topics as voter registration, "voter fraud," the financial crisis, federal funding and Sen. Barack Obama.

The Real ACORN also gives ACORN members, friends, and allies an opportunity to fight back against the smears through the fight back center called "Don't Let The Right-Wing Noise Machine Get Away With It."

"With so many smears and lies being spread on mainstream and internet media about ACORN, we thought it was necessary to give the facts," said ACORN National President Maude Hurd.  "ACORN members are proud of the fact that we helped register 1.3 million new voters, the largest voter registration drive in history.  Because of our success, we are now the target of those threatened by the empowerment of low-income and moderate-income Americans."

Topics in "The Truth About ACORN" section include:

"ACORN is dedicated to making everyone's voice count in the vital public policy debates in our country," Hurd said.  "Helping citizens become active voters is a crucial part of our work to help build a fairer and more inclusive democracy.  We will continue this important work by encouraging every eligible voter to go the polls this November."

ACORN is the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, with over 400,000 member families organized into 850 neighborhood chapters in 110 cities across the country.  Since 1970, ACORN has taken action and won victories on issues of concern to our members, including better housing for first-time homebuyers and tenants, living wages for low-wage workers, more investment in our communities from banks and governments, and better public schools.

Fox to change World Series Start time for Obama

NEW YORK -- Barack Obama might have the power to move the World Series by a few minutes.

To accommodate a half-hour Obama time buy on Fox on Oct. 29, Major League Baseball has agreed to move the start time of World Series Game 6 by about 15 minutes. That would move the start of the game from 8:20 p.m. ET or so to 8:35 p.m.

"Fox will accommodate Senator Obama's desire to communicate with voters in this longform format," Fox Sports said in a statement. "We are pleased that Major League Baseball has agreed to delay the first pitch of World Series Game 6 for a few minutes in order for Fox to carry his program on Oct. 29. If requested, the network would be willing to make similar time available to Senator McCain's campaign."

Along with CBS and NBC, Fox was approached by the Obama campaign last week to purchase the 8-8:30 p.m. time slot Oct. 29. If a Game 6 is needed, Fox is obligated to carry the game. That prevented the network from agreeing outright to carry the commercial, which was cleared by CBS and NBC last Thursday.

The blessing from MLB clears the way for Fox to air the promo and collect upward of $1 million in ad revenue for the half hour, more than what either CBS or NBC was charging.

While a big network ad buy from a presidential candidate is rare, it's not unprecedented for a network and sports league to move the start time of a sports event to accommodate a political broadcast. In early September, the National Football League moved up the kickoff time of the opening-night game -- which aired on NBC -- to 7 p.m. to make sure that the game would be over before Sen. John McCain stepped up to the podium to accept the nomination of the Republican party during the RNC. Fox to change World Series time for Obama Presidential candidate's ad buy interfering with game

Joe the Plumber was registered with the Natural Law Party

Joe the Plumber not an "undecided" after all.  Joe was a member of the Natural Law Party.  If the unified field, Yogi Fliers, Transcendental Meditation, and the Maharishi mean anything to you, you probably know about the Natural Law Party.  Who was the candidate?  It was  Dr. John Hagelin.  The party actual has folks running for office all over America for various government offices.

Joe went On to say he is registered to vote but not a Republican or Democrat because he has voted for both parties.  He related to a Fox News reporter that his decision for voting for a candidate is based upon ones character not that he is an eloquent speaker

Joe just isn't into, "Spreading the Wealth" as Senator Obama explained about tax rates for those who make 250,000 dollars or more.

Joe The Plumber Admits He Wasn't Undecided After All

Unfortunately, the national media has had a field day with Joe, almost universally reporting that he is an uncommitted voter, even though he doesn't make the same claim. He certainly is a nice little story for them, but it's a story they might want to ask some questions about, especially now that they've invited a relative unknown to appear on the morning shows.

For starters, according to Ben Smith, he's not registered to vote. It's hard to believe that this could be the case; it seems likely that there is some sort of clerical error. For example, his name could be mispelled as Worzelbacher instead of Wurzelbacher in the Lucas County file. (Update: Ben Smith notes that appears to be exactly what happened. 'Joe' appears to be a registered Republican under the name of Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher. Also, earlier today at a press conference, Wurzelbacher said he originally registered with the Natural Law Party.)

It also seems odd that he just happens to be buying a business that would earn exactly the amount of money that would qualify it to be a McCain campaign talking point -- $250,000. Even more intriguing, McCain-land said they had never spoken with Joe before, but also made the following statement to Ben Smith:

McCain aides say there was no heads-up for Joe the Plumber, who's headed out to the morning shows tomorrow.

"Joe didn't know" that he'd be at the center of the debate," said Matt McDonald.

"We tried to call him during the debate, but his phone was busy," he said. "We're not going to put him through media training."

The Natural Law Party was founded in 1992 in the United States by a group of educators, business leaders, and lawyers in Fairfield, Iowa who practiced Transcendental Meditation.[1] The Natural Law Party was a transnational political party with national branches in over 80 countries.

The party based its platform on Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's view that natural law is the supreme organizing principle that governs the universe, and that the problems of humanity are caused by people acting against this natural law. The Natural Law Party claimed that it could realign humanity with this organizing principle through techniques such as the practice of Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program, and problems would be alleviated.

The various Natural Law Parties disbanded over a period of years from 2001-2006.

Did Congressman Mahoney Help 2nd Mistress Win Federal Grant?

Here is the man who took Congressman Mark Foley's 16th congressional district who said he would restore morality to the District.  The MSM is not all over this story like Foley's story who did not have any sexual contact but sent mere text messages to house pages.  While this was wrong and I was behind his removal, why is it that Congressman Mahoney seems to get a pass comapred to what happened to the congressman before him.  In addition the Foley scandle also cost many congressman their job.  Will the unkept promicses of Speaker Pelosi cost folks thier congressional seats?  I am just wondering why it appears that Democrats get a pass on sexual miscondict while Republicans are sent out of town on a rail.

I do agree that Republicans hold themselves to a higher standard.  Since they do this, they are responciple for the standards they put on themselves.

Current and former aides for Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-FL) say he was carrying on an affair with a county official from Florida at the same time he lobbied to help her county receive a $3.4 million federal grant.

One former top campaign aide says Mahoney acknowledged the woman had spent the week at his Washington apartment but shrugged off warnings such behavior could cause him political trouble. The aides said the woman was also seen with Mahoney at restaurants and at his Washington DC apartment late at night.

Based on interviews with a number of staffers, campaign workers and top Democratic officials in Congress, it appears Mahoney ignored warnings since last year about what now appears to have been multiple extra-marital relationships.

ABC News reported Monday that one former Congressional and campaign staff member, Patricia Allen was paid $121,000 by Mahoney to keep her from filing suit and going public about their alleged affair after she had been fired by Mahoney.

Third Party Debate at Columbia University : Nader, McKinney, Baldwin, Goodman

After a failed attempt for a YouTube debate to be held in New Orleans in September, organizers are finally going to give some of the Third Party and Independent candidates a chance to speak.  The Venue will Be Columbia University in New York.  The candidates less Bob Barr, who says he has a scheduling conflict will meet this Sunday and will be broadcast by C-Span.

Third-party candidates to debate on Sunday

WASHINGTON -- Third-party presidential candidates finally will have their own debate: at 8 p.m. Sunday at Columbia University in New York.

The debate, which will be announced Wednesday, will include at least three of the four third-party candidates - independent Ralph Nader, the Green Party's Cynthia McKinney and the Constitution Party's Chuck Baldwin. Libertarian Party nominee Bob Barr said he has a scheduling conflict, but debate organizers say he wanted to appear only with Nader. (Democratic nominee Barack Obama and Republican nominee John McCain are also invited.)

Nader and Barr are on the ballot in 45 states, while the Green Party is on 31 state ballots and the Constitution Party is on the ballot in 37 states. Nader and McKinney also are on the District of Columbia ballot.

Organizers say the debate is an important exercise in democracy, especially because the debates sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates (the last of which is Wednesday night) exclude candidates scoring below 15 percent in national polls. Nader, the best known of the candidates, has an average of 2.5 percent in recent national polls, according to realclearpolitics.com, while Barr averages 1.5 percent.

Nader maintains that if he could get into the debates run by the Commission on Presidential Debates, his numbers would immediately climb because "two-thirds of the people don't know we're running."

"It's a Catch-22."

Nader describes the debate commission as "a two-party dictatorial company that doesn't want anybody else on the stage." The commission, created in 1987, is a corporation headed by two former chairs of the Democratic and Republican parties.

But third-party critics of the system recently got some traction: the second of the presidential debates prompted a chorus of criticism of the "boring" format and the lack of follow-up questions.

Nader also will give the issue more visibility at a rally to open the debates Wednesday night at New York's historic Cooper Union Great Hall, where presidential candidates back to Abraham Lincoln have spoken.

Third Party Debate at Columbia Univ on Sunday w/ Nader, McKinney, Baldwin, Amy Goodman

Details are still being hashed out, but so far at least Nader, Cynthia and Constitution Party Candidate Chuck Baldwin will attend a debate on Sunday at 7pm at Columbia University, moderated by Pacifica Radio’s Amy Goodman.  No word on whether Pacifica will carry the broadcast, but it will be on C-SPAN (whether live or not is anybody’s guess).  Libertarian Bob Barr is claiming a ‘conflict’, I guess ’cause he can’t handle a debate with anyone but Nader, which is too bad - it’s always good to have the Libertarians to kick around.

I attended a 3-way debate between David Cobb (G), Michael Badnarik (LP), and Michael Peroutka (CP) in NYC in 2004, and it was a really great event.  All of the candidates actually answered the questions, first of all, which was very refreshing.

I’m flying back from Phoenix that day, and will try to get my flight moved up so I can be there to liveblog it.  I’ll post more details when I hear about them, but use the comments to add any details I don’t have yet. If you can get to NYC this weekend please attend - let’s make a good Green showing, shall we?

2004 presidential candidates from 3rd parties met on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York for a 90 minute debate. Government Professor Theodore Lowi of Cornell moderated the event. Participants include Michael Badnarik, Libertarian Party; Michael Peroutka, Constitution Party; David Cobb Green Party; Walt Brown, Socialist Party.

Michigan Man Fined for Using Coffee Shop's Wi-Fi Network

A Michigan man has been fined $400 and given 40 hours of community service for accessing an open wireless Internet connection outside a coffee shop.

Under a little known state law against computer hackers, Sam Peterson II, of Cedar Springs, Mich., faced a felony charge after cops found him on March 27 sitting in front of the Re-Union Street Café in Sparta, Mich., surfing the Web from his brand-new laptop.

Last week, Peterson chose to pay the fine instead as part of a jail-diversion program.

"I think a lot of people should be shocked, because quite honestly, I still don't understand it myself," Peterson told FOXNews.com "I do not understand how this is illegal."

• Click here for FOXNews.com's Personal Technology Center.

His troubles began in March, a couple of weeks after he had bought his first laptop computer.

Peterson, a 39-year-old toolmaker, volunteer firefighter and secretary of a bagpipe band, wanted to use his 30-minute lunch hour to check e-mails for his bagpipe group.

He got on the Internet by tapping into the local coffee shop's wireless network, but instead of going inside the shop to use the free Wi-Fi offered to paying customers, he chose to remain in his car and piggyback off the network, which he said didn't require a password.

He used the system on his lunch breaks for more than a week, and then the police showed up.

"I was sitting there reading my e-mail and he came up and stuck his head inside my window and asked me who I was spying on," Peterson told FOXNews.com.

Man faces six felony voter fraud charges in Michigan

A 23-year-old man accused of submitting forged voter registration applications to the Jackson city clerk is facing felony charges in Jackson County.

Attorney General Michael Cox on Tuesday charged Antonio Johnson, a former employee of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) with six counts of forgery of a public document.

Each felony count carries a penalty of up to 14 years in prison, according to a statement released Tuesday by the state attorney general's office.

The charges come at a time when local clerks statewide say they are handling tens of thousands of duplicate voter registrations that poured into their office as a result of efforts by community organizing groups and political parties.

Johnson, who has been in the Jackson County Jail since about July on a parole violation, was arraigned Tuesday in Jackson County District Court on the forgery charges.

He is accused of filling out, signing and submitting six applications using the names of two Jackson residents without their permission or knowledge between May 20 and June 2, said John Sellek, a spokesman for the attorney general.

Sellek said it was unclear where Johnson most recently lived.

His alleged actions concerned Cox because they are "directly damaging to the integrity of our election system," Sellek said.

Jackson City Clerk Lynn Fessel became suspicious of the forms because the apparent applicants already were registered and the information on the new applications did not match the information on file, Sellek said.

She asked city police in July to investigate. When interviewed, the victims suggested police speak to Johnson, who later admitted to the crimes, Sellek said.

SC ETV Holds Third Congressional District Debate: Barrett (R) vs. Dyer (D)

Watch the debate here Recorded Oct 15, 2008

Gina Smith from, "The State" entitled her story, "Barrett defends his vote on bailout"

The slumping economy grabbed the spotlight during Wednesday’s face-off between U.S. Rep. J. Gresham Barrett,

a Westminster Republican, and Democratic challenger Jane Dyer of Easley.

The two took part in a live debate sponsored by ETV and The State newspaper as part of their bids to represent Upstate

South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District.

Barrett defended his vote for the Wall Street bailout, saying it’s not a move toward socialism but a necessary move to

unlock the credit market. While Barrett voted against the initial bill, he voted in favor of a second, revised bill that

raised FDIC limits.

“People think this is a Wall Street plan. I wish it was,” Barrett said, noting the bill will help students get college

loans, businesses get credits and drivers secure car loans.

“Wall Street and Main Street are the same street,” Barrett said.

Dyer blasted Barrett as part of the Republican status quo but stopped short of saying whether she would have voted for the

financial rescue package.

“The bottom line to me is how did we get there? How did the taxpayers get to a $700 billion bailout,” said Dyer, a

commercial pilot for FedEx and Air Force veteran.

Both candidates expressed concern over the loss of textile jobs that has hurt the district, a mainly rural area that spans

the northwestern part of the Palmetto State. Much of its current economy revolves around manufacturing in Anderson and

Greenwood counties.

Dyer said new jobs could be created around alternate energy sources. “We’ve got smart people in this district, and we could

put people back to work,” Dyer said.

Barrett gave details about his plan to bring energy independence to South Carolina by, in part, building the state’s

nuclear energy capacity.

“Energy is something that South Carolina can not (only) lead the South, but lead the nation,” he said.

The two represented polar opposites on nationalizing health care.

“Do you want the same government to handle your health care who handled Katrina?” Barrett asked, referring to Hurricane

Katrina that hit New Orleans in 2005. Dyer fired back, “Sir, you are that government.”

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, ETV and The State Newspaper bring LIVE statewide coverage of the Third Congressional District debate. The hour-long discussion between Republican incumbent J. Gresham Barrett and Democratic challenger Jane Dyer, will air statewide at 8 p.m. from ETV Upstate in Spartanburg.

Moderated by ETV's "The Big Picture" host Mark Quinn, both programs will be broadcast on all 11 ETV stations, eight ETV Radio stations and be streamed over the Internet at www.myetv.org.
In addition to the live broadcasts, ETV will provide a number of ways for electronic and print media to access and record the debates, including:

About Congressman Gresham Barrett

Congressman Gresham Barrett was sworn in as a member of the 108th Congress on January 4, 2003. As elected, he maintains his conservative base advocating military efforts, safe and secure U.S. borders, less tax burdens, energy independence, strong families and individual freedoms. Following the Congressional elections on November 7, 2006, Barrett was reinstated to his Congressional House seat and was sworn into the 110th Congress January 2007.

Upon graduating from The Citadel in 1983, Barrett achieved the rank of Captain and served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery until 1987. He understands first-hand the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families. During his first term in Congress, Barrett traveled to Iraq where he met with high ranking military officials on the ground - as well as soldiers from South Carolina who were serving in Kuwait, Baghdad and Mosul (view Iraq photo gallery). As U.S. military efforts move forward and promote change in the Middle East, Barrett believes that it is vital that the American people remain steadfast in their resolve to win the war. His continued belief is that we must fight the terrorists in the streets of Kabul and Baghdad or face them in the streets of Washington, D.C., Atlanta, G.A., or Columbia, S.C.

As a former small business owner, Barrett believes the current tax system is too burdensome and brings disadvantages to the business community, hurts job creation and causes undue stress to individual taxpayers. Immediately upon swearing into his second term in 2004, Barrett introduced legislation to create a bipartisan commission to develop a simple and fair tax reform proposal. He also introduced legislation to curb the growth in government spending making it difficult for Congress to increase spending in the future by re-imposing Pay-As-You-Go requirements. He recently voted in favor of legislation, signed by the President, which would extend certain tax relief provisions through 2007. Understanding that federal regulations stifle growth and enterprise, Barrett is committed to finding ways to reduce federal regulations, making them less costly and complicated for small business. Barrett believes by giving Americans more money in their wallet, our economy will continue to create more jobs and will increase citizens’ spending and purchasing power.

Barrett has taken the lead among the South Carolina delegation to bring a next generation nuclear reactor to the state of South Carolina to be a catalyst for an energy park on Savannah River Site. This progressive step would allow the public and private sectors to work together on future missions to support the national energy policy. Policies over the past several decades have prevented our nation from developing an energy policy that promotes exploration and self reliance; thus, our dependency on foreign sources of oil has continued to increase. Since elected to Congress, Barrett staunchly ensures that energy policies are being pursued which promote clean, alternative energy sources like hydrogen and nuclear power.

Personal responsibility, individual freedoms and strong families are top priorities for Barrett. He believes firmly in "pro-life," and that any attempt to harm or endanger the life of an innocent child is wrong. At the start of his Congressional career in Washington, D.C., he co-sponsored legislation that the President signed into law to end ‘partial-birth abortion.’ He is a dedicated defender of our civil liberties granted by the Constitution, and is concerned by any potential infringement of our rights as well as the current trend by judges to legislate from the bench. He continues to work to promote a culture of life and to ensure that traditional family values, like marriage between a man and woman, are upheld in our laws.

Currently, Barrett serves on the Budget Committee, the House Committee on Financial Services, the House Committee on International Relations and Ethics Committee. Prior to being elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2002, he managed his family-owned business, ‘Barrett’s Furniture,’ in Westminster, S.C. He then served three consecutive terms in the South Carolina State House of Representatives and served on the Education and Public Works Committee, Labor Commerce and Industry Committee and Rules Committee. He also served on the School Choice Ad Hoc Committee and as Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on Urban Growth. In addition, during the 2000 Presidential election Barrett served on the ‘Bush for President’ South Carolina State Steering Committee.

Being active in the community has always been important to Barrett. Previously, he has served as President of the Westminster Rotary Club, Chairman of the Oconee County Boy Scouts, President of the Westminster Chamber of Commerce, board member of the Oconee County Red Cross, member of the Oconee Kids Do Count Board and coach of the Barrett's Furniture Pony League baseball team. Born to the late Charles G. and the late Del M. Barrett, he is a native and current resident of Westminster, South Carolina. Barrett is married to his high school sweetheart Natalie, and they are the proud parents of three wonderful children. He knows he would not be where he is today without the love and support of his family- for Barrett, family always comes first.

About Jane Dyer

Jane Dyer has truly been everywhere. “Even though I’ve traveled all over the world and all across America, I can’t imagine living anywhere but here in South Carolina.” In fact, it’s Jane’s love for the Palmetto State and her vision for its future that helped her make her decision to run for the US Congress. “We need serious change, and everywhere I go South Carolinians remind me that they expect change now.”

GROWING UP

Jane was born to middle class parents as one of the youngest of 8 children. Jane’s parents taught her South Carolinian values like respect, integrity, and loyalty. Her parents also taught her that public service is a responsibility, and that all people have something to give back to the community.

EDUCATION

Jane graduated from Easley High School in Pickens County, SC, and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from our own Clemson University. Jane’s leadership potential was spotted early as she received an Air Force ROTC scholarship and was selected as Clemson’s Group Commander. She was quickly singled out to receive the honor of serving her country as an Air Force pilot.

DESTINED FOR LEADERSHIP

Jane embarked on a distinguished career as an Air Force pilot, leading thousands who needed her guidance. While she devoted herself to the leadership of others in service to our country, Jane met John Dyer, himself a retired Air Force pilot. The two were married on July 13, 1985. Jane and John share the joy of caring for a total of four children, each having been raised with hearts for service.

When Jane completed her Air Force service, she and John and their (new born baby) moved back to Anderson County. ( Both of their )younger children attended public school in Anderson County and both earned the distinction of Eagle Scout. After flying for TWA for a year, Jane was hired by FedEx, where she has been flying for nearly 20 years.

Jane’s unique story doesn’t end there. Throughout her career as a pilot, and while she was raising a family, Jane made the time to serve as a leader in her community. Jane served her church as a leader in ministry for children, youth, and young adults, and finally serving as a deacon. Jane has coached youth basketball and soccer, and supports charities and community service projects like Habitat for Humanity and Miracle Hill Ministries. Jane and John are also proud to sponsor a child from Honduras named Angel through Compassion International.

When asked what motivates her constant commitment to service, Jane says “I am committed to giving back to the community that has given so much to me and my family.”

READY TO BRING CHANGE

Throughout her career and community service, Jane has been dedicated to positive change, from the Air Force to Anderson County. Jane will bring the same positive change to Congress, where it is needed most. “I am committed to changing Washington, and not letting Washington change me.” Jane says “I know the challenges in Washington, but my integrity is not for sale.” It’s that South Carolina integrity that has helped Jane chart her course all her life. This journey is no different.

About South Carolina's 3rd congressional district

The 3rd Congressional District of South Carolina is a congressional district in western South Carolina bordering both Georgia and North Carolina. It includes all of Abbeville, Anderson, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Oconee, Pickens and Saluda counties and approximately half of Aiken county. The district is mostly rural, but much of the economy revolves around the manufacturing centers of Anderson and Greenwood.

Politically, the district is not as Republican as the neighboring 4th. However, most residents share the social conservative predilections of their counterparts in the 4th, which has kept the district in Republican hands since the gigantic Republican landslide of 1994. J. Gresham Barrett, elected in 2002, currently represents the district. Jane Dyer is the democratic challenger in the 2008 election.

Mentally challenged man says Aide Voted for Obama against his Will

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - There are allegations of voter fraud, as a Dougherty County family claims the vote of a mentally challenged relative was stolen.

They say the adult day rehab program where Jack Justice attends took him to vote, without the family's permission. What's worse is Justice says the person helping him wouldn't cast the ballot for his choice for President.

Jack Justice has been voting since he turned 18. Typically his family takes him to their neighborhood precinct. This time Primus Industries, his adult day rehab program, took him to vote. His family was shocked, but what shocked them more was that Jack claims that his aide commandeered his vote.

"They told me to vote for Obama, I said no I wanted to vote for McCain," said Jack Justice, a voter.

Jack Justice says the person helping him, selected Obama's name. His sister says the family is often asked to sign a permission slips for trips, but for this they were never notified.

"No permission slips, no nothing, he just came home and said he had gone," said Nancy Justice, Jack's sister.

We questioned election officials about the procedure, who say they recall the group coming in to vote and an aide was helping the individuals, but they must sign an oath that they'll cast the ballot however the voter prefers.

"So it plainly says the person should tell the person how they want to vote and then they help them mark it," said Carolyn Hatcher, Dougherty County Elections Supervisor.

Election officials say they can't follow people into the booth to see what happens. We contacted the Albany Area Community Service Board who oversees Primus Industries. They say they do their best to protect the safety, treatment, and care of the individuals in their programs. They also said they'll look into the allegations and conduct an internal investigation if necessary. Nancy Justice is just upset the incident happened.

"For me it was kind of pushing it to the limit there to get him to vote for someone in particular who they wanted him to vote for," said Nancy Justice.

Election officials say the family's only option is to file a challenge to the election results. The Justice's are considering their options.

Court orders Ohio to Verify Voter Registrations, ACORN calls it Suppression

Election Law Blog has a short, useful summary. A three-judge panel from the same court ruled last week that the Democrat Secretary of State, who’s resisted GOP efforts to implement the new system, could rely on the current procedures. The full panel reversed that ruling today, which means now she’ll have to report mismatches between names on registration forms and names on DMV records to the local county elections boards. Ohio Republicans exult and lower the boom:

“Her delay in providing this matching system leaves little time for election officials to act on questionable registrations,” Ohio GOP Chairman Bob Bennett said Tuesday night. “Once again, [SoS] Jennifer Brunner has wasted valuable taxpayer dollars only to have her partisan agenda rejected by a court of law. Her shameful actions to disenfranchise Republican absentee voters, block the transparency of early voting and refuse the proper verification of newly registered voters have rightfully damaged her credibility as a nonpartisan election administrator. She is destroying the public trust in Ohio’s elections system.”

Meanwhile, the ACORN story’s finally broken all the way through on cable news; here’s a double feature for you from tonight’s CNN and MSNBC, respectively. Note the point made by the correspondent in the latter clip (or by the Republican lawyer quoted here): It’s not really voter impersonation that’s the big worry, it’s the logistical nightmare of poll workers having to sift so many bogus registration forms that bona fide registrations can’t be processed in a timely manner. Which is a problem, but given the trend in party identification, especially among new voters, would seem to be more of a problem for Democrats than Republicans.

Bogus "Voter Fraud Charges" Aim to Camouflage Voter Suppression

The goals of the people orchestrating these attacks are to distract ACORN from helping people vote and to justify massive voter suppression. That’s the real voter fraud; the noise about a small fraction of the forms ACORN has turned in is meant to get the press and public take their eyes off the real threat, while those hurling the charges are stealing people’s right to vote in broad daylight. They have already tried to prevent Ohio from registering voters at its early voting sites. In Michigan, they planned to use foreclosure notices to challenge thousands of voters. And if this year is like past years, they are preparing to use this so-called voter fraud to justify massive challenges to voters in minority precincts on Election Day.

Jesse Jackson: “Zionists” will lose influence under Obama

The campaigns are sparring over comments by Rev. Jesse Jackson arguing that Barack Obama’s foreign policy will mean an end to “decades of putting Israel’s interests first.”

According to a report in the NY Post today, Jackson told an audience at the World Policy Forum in Evian, France last week that the  “Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades” will lose influence under an Obama administration.

“Obama is about change,” Jackson added. “And the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it.”

Jackson reportedly acknowledged that he is just an Obama “supporter”  but also described the Democratic nominee as a “neighbor or, better still, a member of the family.”

Meanwhile, the McCain campaign used the report to continue to draw questions about what it says is Obama’s thin record.

“Literally, nobody knows what Barack Obama’s policies would be if he were elected president, but it’s very concerning that people believe he will not be a friend to Israel.”

The Obama Campaign put out this statement:

“Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. is not an adviser to the Obama campaign and is therefore in no position to interpret or share Barack Obama’s views on Israel and foreign policy,” Obama national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi said in a statement. “As he has made clear throughout his career and throughout this campaign, Barack Obama has a fundamental commitment to a strong U.S.-Israel relationship … As president, he will ensure that Israel can defend itself from every threat it faces, stand with Israel in its quest for a secure peace with its neighbors, and use all elements of American power to end Iran’s illicit nuclear program.”

Mother Indicted in Caylee Anthony Case

Casey Anthony Tried to twitch cars under and over pass but was apprehended by  Police.
Casey Anthony, 22, has been under suspicion and her lawyer told CNN she would surrender if she is named in the indictment.CNN just reported that Anthony was arrested by police.

(UPI) - A Florida grand jury Tuesday returned a sealed indictment in the case of missing toddler Caylee Anthony after the child's grandfather testified.

Caylee has been missing since June but her absence wasn't reported for weeks.

CNN and the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel report the name of the defendant won't be released until an arrest is made. Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, 22, has been under suspicion and her lawyer told CNN she would surrender if she is named in the indictment.

"She's not running from this," attorney Jose Baez said. "She's doing her best to stand strong, to stand up to the powers that are working against her. And they threw the kitchen sink at her a long time ago."

George Anthony, Caylee's grandfather, Tuesday arrived at the Orlando courthouse to face a grand jury convened to determine if probable cause exists to indict Casey Anthony, CNN reported.

Jose Baez tosses WFTV from news Casey Anthony News Conference

WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Martie Salt called the mystery of missing Caylee Anthony one of Central Florida's most bizarre stories.

"It didn't take long for this to turn into a circus," Salt said Tuesday afternoon, recalling how the story has gripped the public starting in early July. "Since then, it's been three months of just kind of crazy stuff," Salt added.

But on Tuesday, there was news: A grand jury indicted Casey Anthony, mother of Caylee, on first-degree murder.

Local broadcast stations interrupted their regular schedules shortly before 4 p.m. for the reading of the grand jury decision. Earlier, the stations broke away from programming for a statement by Jose Baez, Casey's attorney. She stood next to him in tears.

There was crazy stuff, too. Baez tossed WFTV from the news conference because he didn't like the station's questions, General Manager Shawn Bartelt told me. "He doesn't like us because we've been aggressive in reporting details of the story," she said.

Baez accused the station of being "a tabloid news channel."

Grand Jury Hands Down An Indictment Against Caylee Anthony’s Mother

The public wasn’t allowed inside the courtroom but WESH 2 News reported details as they became known of the events as they unfolded. When Casey’s father, George Anthony came out of the courtroom reporter Bob Kealing from WESH2 News said George appeared somber as he stood by the elevator door waiting to go downstairs. He was holding a folder with Caylee’s picture on the front of it. His attorney Mark NeJame said, “Mr. Anthony answered all the questions he was asked. Beyond that we’re really not allowed to comment.”

George Anthony was subpoenaed to testify about the odor of human decomposition coming from Casey’s car. “This is going to be very hard for me to do,” he told reporters outside the Orange County Courthouse before he entered. “My focus is on my granddaughter, it always has been. Just pray for her. That’s all I am asking.”

Computer Hacker Sentenced to Two Years in Federal Prison

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—United States Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced today that GREGORY KING, 21, of Fairfield, Calif., was sentenced to two years in federal prison. KING was also ordered to pay over $69,000 in restitution. Online, KING was known as Silenz, Silenz420, sZ, GregK, and Gregk707. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of transmitting code to cause damage to a protected computer on June 10, 2008.

This case is the product of an extensive investigation by the FBI, whose agents analyzed Internet logs, executed search warrants, performed forensic analysis of KING’s computers, and took KING’s confession.

According to Assistant United States Attorney Matthew D. Segal, who prosecuted the case, KING admitted to using a “botnet” to conduct distributed denial of service attacks (DDOS attacks) against two different business Web sites: Killanet and Castlecops. A botnet is a network of malware-infected, zombie computers (bots) that can be used to conduct DDOS attacks, send spam, and commit fraud over the Internet. Bots are also used to infect other computers and thus propagate the botnet. The owners of the infected computers do not know that their computers have been infected with “botware,” but their computers can nonetheless be secretly directed by the “bot herder,” the person in control of the botnet. In a DDOS attack, a bot herder directs the bots to flood a victim computer with information and thereby disable the target computer.

KING admitted to controlling about 7,000 bots and using them to DDOS attack Killanet and Castlecops. Killanet is an interactive forum where members could share advice on graphic design, web design, photography, and gaming and was DDOS attacked in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Castlecops is an Internet security community specializing in anti-phishing, malware analysis, and combatting spam and was DDOS attacked in 2007.

On October 1, 2007, FBI agents went to KING’s residence to arrest him. After agents knocked on the front door, KING exited the back door, hid a laptop computer in the backyard, and then returned to answer the front door. Pursuant to a search warrant, the laptop was seized and searched. It contained, among other things, botnet software and references to KING’s various Internet monikers.

U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott said, “Botnets are a 21st Century menace. Hackers need to know that if they engage in this kind of conduct, they risk federal prosecution, prison, and a restitution order that will be with them for a long time.”

Virginia GOP Chairman Compares Obama to Bin Laden

Presidential John McCain came out to abruptly to distance himself from what he calls, "fringe" members of the Party.  He made this statement during an interview with CNN

RICHMOND -- The chairman of the Virginia Republican Party has compared Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden because of the Illinois senator's past association with Bill Ayers, who has confessed to domestic bombings as a member of the Vietnam War-era Weather Underground.

Virginia Democrats, and some Republicans, are outraged, saying these are the latest in a series of inflammatory statements that the GOP has made against Obama in Virginia, a state that has emerged as a crucial battleground in the election.

According to a report in this week's Time magazine, the Virginia party chairman, Del. Jeffrey M. Frederick (R-Prince William), told Virginia volunteers working for GOP nominee John McCain that Obama and bin Laden "both have friends that bombed the Pentagon."

"That is scary," Frederick said while providing talking points to GOP volunteers in western Prince William County as they prepared for a door-to-door canvass.

Several McCain surrogates have blasted Obama for his association with Ayers, but few, if any, have invoked bin Laden.

John McCain's responce

….Gail Gitcho, a McCain spokeswoman, also denounced Frederick’s remarks, calling them “not appropriate.”

“While Barack Obama is associated with domestic terrorist William Ayers, the McCain campaign disagrees with the comparison that Jeff Frederick made,” Gitcho said.

Stocks Rise Dow +938 Nasdaq + 194 S&P 500 +104 Largest 1 day Gain since 1987

Wall Street makes stunning reversal from worst week ever. Dow, Nasdaq and S&P gain more than 11% after global crisis intervention.

Dow sees biggest runup ever Blue-chip indicator jumps over 800 points, topping the 9,200 level, its biggest one-day advance on a point basis ever.

NEW YORK  (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks rallied Monday afternoon, with the Dow up over 800 points during the session, as investors bet that the worst of the credit crisis is over, following a series of global initiatives announced over the last few days.

The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) gained as much as 814 points and over 9% before pulling back a bit. The advance was the largest ever during a session on a point basis.

The Standard & Poor's 500 (SPX) index rose and the Nasdaq composite (COMP) both added over 10%.

Stocks were buoyant Monday as investors welcomed a global effort to unfreeze the credit market and get money flowing through the system again. Although stocks reacted positively, credit markets barely budged.

"We had some good news this morning from the Fed and the other central banks, but we were also oversold on an historic level and due for a big bounce," said Ryan Detrick, senior technical strategist at Schaeffer's Investment Research.

Last week was the Dow's worst ever, ending a stunning eight-session selloff that seared 2,400 points off the blue-chip indicator. That represented a 22% decline in the Dow, something not seen since at least the '30s, wiping out $2.4 trillion in market value, according to losses in the Dow Jones Wilshire 5000, the broadest measure of the market.

Detrick said that not only had the Dow fallen for eight straight sessions, but it had also fallen for eight straight weeks.

"We basically saw a crash, and so you're going to see a big bounce off that," he said.

Whether the rally can continue beyond the short-term is unclear, as analysts debate whether the market really put in a bottom on Friday.

Christopher Colarik, portfolio manager at Glenmede Investment Management, said he thinks the market likely put in a bottom Friday when it touched session lows.

The debate has begun with opening statements.

Senator Graham is asked if we are heading in to a depression.  He related to the audience that what has been done is to pull out the bad debts out of the system so that the market will not be pulled down even further.  Market actions as they stand now are trying to find a consolidation point.  The market will return but it will take some time.

Bob Conley is complaining that Senator Graham's vote for NAFTA has caused jobs to leave America for cheap labor.  He also relates that most of the problems are due to Big business and Washington insiders.

He further related that illegal Aliens continue to take jobs from American workers.

Warren Buffett stated that the national debt is a ticking time bomb.  Sen Graham said he had a plan to work on leveling the national debt.  The problem he stated was he was unable to find a democrat to co-sponsor his Bill.

The National Debt has doubled under the last 8 years.  Mr. Conley was asked if Social Security would be viable in the next decades.  Mr Conley related that the answer is the Fair tax.

Senator Graham was asked about earmarks.  He states that earmarks are not the problem it is that they are slipped in at the last minute and are almost unidentifiable of which legislature asked for the Earmark.  Senator Graham said that he is for earmarks but it should be done in the day light and ones name should be attached to the earmark.

what does victory in Iraq look like

Conley, it has been more then 5 years since mission accomplished. We are now trying to do nation building. Troops should be redeployed home and turn over the country back to the Iraqis

Graham- We must win, The army is up to 135,000. We are on the verge of getting us out and winning this thing and how we get out will dictate

Conley, said sarcastically, “I know you were there I saw the rugs you bought”

Graham:  I would rather fight the enemy over there than on our own shores

Hussein was a cancer in the Mideast, Bin laden wanted Iraq to be the central battle zone to fight. History was that he failed to meet the UN resolutions

Graham-Argues for an American initiative – I do believe that Global warming is somewhat man made. We also would be safer if we did not have to import oil from folks who don't like us very much. I am ready to drill off the South Carolina Coast. But I am for the all above approach and many of those can be produced in South Carolina

Conley stated that our Government fleet should be switched to alternative fuels.  He also stated that the candidate have found an area that they agree on, getting off of Foreign oil.

Should there be a path to citizenship for undocumented workers. Conley states no, because they are taking jobs that could be done by American Workers. Graham states that there should be some plan to allow folks to remain to do jobs that Americans will not do.

The debate ended at 8:55 pm.

Graham, Conley differ on economy

In trying to unseat Graham and pull off what would be one of the nation’s biggest political upsets this fall, Bob Conley — a 43-year-old engineer and professional pilot from Myrtle Beach — attempted to tie Graham to a trio of unpopular policy positions: the financial bailout passed by Congress, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and an immigration policy that includes a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants.

“I’m running to give you a voice in Washington,” Conley said at the end of the debate. “Come join with me. Let’s take our country back.”

Prior to Saturday’s debate —sponsored by ETV and The State newspaper — the 53-year-old Graham spent far more time campaigning for his close friend and Senate ally, John McCain, than worrying about his own re-election prospects.

He entered ETV’s studio with an air of confidence, shaking hands with reporters and warmly greeting Conley, who was already standing behind his podium.

Graham did not move away from policy positions that have, at times, angered conservatives in his party.

He reiterated his support for an immigration policy that includes a path to citizenship. And he said the bailout, which some conservatives decry as a socialistic intervention into the private market, is critical to the nation’s fiscal health.

Graham sounded an optimistic note on the economy, even as he acknowledged the pain many are feeling as their retirement account or job security withers.

“Tough times await us,” Graham said. “I think things are going to stabilize real soon.”

Conley disagreed and offered his belief that the Dow Jones industrial average will fall from just under 8,500, where it closed Friday, to somewhere near 3,000 — an outcome that could have catastrophic effects.

“I think that (bailout) was wrong,” he said. “We’re looking in a lot of ways at re-learning the lessons of Herbert Hoover.”

On Saturday night, Graham said he was proud of his position on judges and on immigration.

Conley made clear that he opposes Graham’s position on illegal immigration.

“He wants to give amnesty to people whose first act on entering the United States is breaking our laws,” Conley said.

Conley and Graham also disagreed on Iraq. Graham said that the conflict there is winnable and that U.S. troops should remain because they are on the verge of victory.

“This whole idea of just leaving and not worrying about what we leave behind, I reject that,” Graham said. “We’re on the verge of winning this thing.”

Conley said U.S. troops should be withdrawn from Iraq. “We’re using our military in some kind of police-state, nation-building,” Conley said. “It’s time to turn it over to the Iraqis. It’s their country.”

Graham, Conley clash over Iraq, Wall Street

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and his Democrat opponent Bob Conley clashed over the $700 billion Wall Street rescue and whether the U.S. military presence in Iraq and Afghanistan amounts to an occupation.

Saturday night's meeting was the only planned debate for the pair as Graham seeks a second term.

Graham said the financial rescue protects the future of the nation's economy. Conley says the money involved adds to the national debt and will further devalue the dollar.

"We have had public policy enacted by self-serving, career politicians who do the bidding for the large, powerful and wealthy special interests that pump millions of dollars into their campaigns," Conley said.

Graham said the U.S. is on the verge of winning in Iraq. But Conley said the U.S. presence there and in Afghanistan amounts to an occupation. Graham says it's offensive for service members to be called occupiers. He says they're patriots.

"I am very proud of the role I played for the last several years to make sure that we did not withdraw in such a way to let Iraq fail and become a wider war," Graham said.

Graham's campaign is vastly ahead of Conley in the fundraising battle.

Conley says he's an engineer by trade and not a professional politician and says it will take plenty of hard work to unseat Graham.

Sen. Graham and Bob Conley will debate on ETV Saturday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.

Note:  Politisite will be covering the Debate Live at ETV.  We will live blog on NowPublic and Iron Mill News Service.  The reason this debate is so important is that Sen Graham is a possible cabinet candidate for a McCain Presidency.

McCain Internal memo Blasts Obama's Involvement with ACORN

The McCain Campaign released this memo on Friday Blasting Obama's involvement in ACORN

TO: Interested Parties

RE: Barack Obama & ACORN

DATE: October 10, 2008

Today, the McCain campaign outlined the intimate and longstanding relationship between Barack Obama and the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN). Given ACORN's recent efforts to engage in voter fraud and to disrupt our political system, Obama's affiliation with this group raises serious questions about his judgment and ability to lead this nation.

As of today, ACORN is under investigation for fraudulent activities in at least 11 key battleground states and accused of wrongdoing in many others. According to election officials across the country, about 50% of ACORN's voter registrations are fictitious. This week alone, ACORN offices in Nevada were raided by state officials - after the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys appeared registered to vote in Las Vegas - and in Connecticut, a seven-year-old child registered to vote as a 27-year-old.

Below is a brief summary of Obama's connection to the organization. A diagram of connections outlining Obama's many ties to ACORN can be found here: http://www.gop.com/ObamaAcornTree.

The relationship between Barack Obama and ACORN dates back to the early 1990s, well before the start of his political career. In 1992, Obama directed Project Vote - an arm of ACORN that also encouraged voter registration. Around the same time, Obama began teaching classes for "Future Leaders Identified by ACORN," and according to an op-ed at the time, Obama continued his community organizing work largely through these classes.

Obama soon moved on from his role as a community organizer and became a trial attorney for ACORN. In 1995, Obama represented ACORN in a lawsuit against the state of Illinois for its supposed failure to implement a federal law designed to make voter registration easier, and thus increasing the likelihood of voter fraud. Obama also joined two well-known boards with strong ties to ACORN - the Woods Fund and the Joyce Foundation. Under Obama's watch, the Chicago ACORN branch received thousands of dollars in grants from both organizations.

During this year's Democrat primaries, Obama's campaign paid $832,000 to Citizens Services, an ACORN-affiliated organization, for get-out-the-vote efforts. Sensing the need to distance itself from the controversial organization, however, Obama's Federal Election Commission report mischaracterized this work as "staging and lighting."

Given his longstanding ties to the organization, it is not surprising that Obama accepted the endorsement of ACORN in 2008. In a press release touting the endorsement on his official campaign website, Obama says: "I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues that you care about my entire career."

Obama's subsequent failure to disclose the true nature of his relationship with ACORN, however, is very surprising and deeply troubling. His campaign website, which on one page features the aforementioned quote, claims on another page that Obama has no connection to ACORN. This direct contradiction illustrates Obama's willingness to distort the true facts and seriously calls his judgment into question.

We are hopeful that three actions come from today's discussion. First, Barack Obama has to be forthright about his relationship with ACORN. Secondly, given their willingness to compromise the voting process in key battleground states across the country, a thorough investigation of ACORN must be conducted before Election Day. Finally, federal funding of ACORN must cease immediately until the full examination has been completed. American taxpayers should not be funding an organization mired in potentially illegal activities.

Canadian Political Party Leaders step up attacks as campaign winds down

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Attacks on all sides by Political Party leaders seem to be the norm in order to sway the undecided voters. The NDP one trick pony attack always seems to centre on a Vote for Prime Minister Harper is a Vote for US President George Bush.

Funny, Bush isn't running, but as many revile Bush, this seems a easy target for the NDP to scare voters unclued on the concept that Harper and Bush are like Chalk and Cheese.

The NDP are all over the place centring on the Homeless, low wage voters, and anti Corporate stance and corporate tax breaks, yet at the same time, the NDP are stating massive training programs for those who wish to get into the corporate manufacturing industry.

One wonders how this training program will work, where upon graduation, there will be no place for these graduates to work, if the NDP state they hate corporates. Corporates who rely on Tax breaks to hire people and do research and development.

The Liberals on the other hand slander Harper and Layton on both sides, and use their one trick pony the Green Shift Environmental plan as Vote getter for Environmentalists.

The Green Party as well are all over the place, yet centre mainly on the environment, yet have no clear plan, who will pay, and how much it will cost and how it will be done.

The Conservatives, are mainly concentrating on Law and Order, knowing many in Canada are fed up with crime, with the environment dead last in their party platform.

The Bloq Quebec, are pretty much there to protect the interests of Quebec, who by an large make up a 1/3 of the population of Canada. But Ontario by population is catching up fast.

Polls, in the hundreds can't seem to get anything accurate and should be dismissed like the National Inquirer, as no one poll comes with anything accurate or useable.

The Barry Artiste Poll is this Harper a slim Majority, NDP second, with Liberals third and booting Dion as Liberal leader for a disasterous placing in the election. Green party Leader most likely will not win her own seat, leaving a void to be filled by anyone in the Greens who is lucky enough to get elected to Parliament. The Bloq Quebec will get a respectable number of votes, as they are clearly in the hearts and minds of Quebecer's who know Bloq Leader Duceppe has their best interests at heart and is a decent working man much like the voters who elect him.

Leaders step up attacks as campaign winds down

Updated Sat. Oct. 11 2008 9:26 AM ET

CTV.ca News Staff

The final weekend of the federal election campaign has arrived and leaders are working to shore up support before voters cast their ballots on Tuesday.

The Liberal and Conservative leaders will both be in vote-rich southern Ontario on Saturday.

Stephen Harper's Conservatives still hold a slight lead in the polls, but it has diminished during the five-week campaign as talk of a possible recession surfaced.

On Friday, Harper attacked Liberal Leader Stephane Dion, citing trouble Dion had during an interview with CTV Atlantic as proof the Liberal won't effectively lead Canada through the current economic difficulties.

Dion called Harper's attack a "low blow" on his admittedly shaky English language skills and said Harper "has no class and no plan."

In an attempt to bolster Dion's campaign, former prime minister Jean Chrétien stepped out of retirement to speak at a Liberal rally in Brampton, Ont. where he railed against Harper.

NDP Leader Jack Layton, who has seen his poll numbers slide, also had a former leader speak out on his behalf on Friday. Ed Broadbent, who led the party to a record 43 seats in 1988, predicted the NDP will set a new record this time around.

How Right-Leaning Leaders "Outplay" the Opposition!

Barry Artiste op/Ed

How I have always seen it when it comes to the Liberals and the Conservatives is this. the Liberal left on one hand promise "Pie in the Sky" promises without forethought of the financial or moral consequences, much like a visiting favourite childess Aunt & Uncle who only infrequently come to visit, and when they do, they spoil you with attention, candy and fast food trips and visits to Toys R Us and after the visit, they go back home, leaving your parents to deal with your Now Hyperactivity at being spoiled over the weekend.

The Right Conservative are more like your Parents, doting, but tempering the amount of attention, candy and fast food trips, with visits to Toys R Us, best reserved for birthdays, Christmas and special occasions.

The Conservative Parents are the full time disciplinarians and teach you right from wrong. You may not like it, you may wish to run away from home on occasion if you get grounded, you may tell Mom and Dad I hate you!, but in the end you know your parents are right once you get a taste of the real world when you are on your own and raise your own kids in your household.

Parents versus Aunts and Uncles have to deal with you full time, while the infrequent and kind hearted Aunts and Uncles in your lives are in and out, without a thought until the next anticipated visit.

Liberal promises to the downtrodden and always easy vote getters, Liberals much like the wind promise whatever is cliche or in vogue if they think it will get them elected.

Celebs, especially the Lucky Rich ones, of course will vote liberal, they can afford to behind their Gated Community, as the major populace dream of being like them.

If Celebs were sincere and really. really serious about Liberalism, one would think the Celebs would take in the homeless, donate 90 percent of their multi million dollar salaries to the less fortunate.

But we all know that aint ever going to happen. Liberals love money, and rarely walk the talk, especially when they all profess to help the environment, as long as someone else pays for it.

BC Liberals Carbon Tax is a case, where British Columbian's all professed to the government to do something about the environment, The government listened and imposed the Hated Carbon Tax! British Columbian's went into an uproar over having their taxes raised to pay for it!

The Liberal Government, I am sure must have said WTF? How are we going to do something about the Environment without the people of British Columbia to pay for it? British Columbian's I guess did not think that one through, if you want something, someone, mainly you have to pay for it!

British Columbia's Liberal voters want to house all the homeless, free methadone injections, $19.00 dollar an hour minimum wages, build affordable housing for everyone.

Now I ask you, as a Fiscal Conservative, who pray tell is going to pay for all this? .. You! that's who! Now if you take exception to paying a few cents a litre of gas for the Hated Carbon Tax, just imagine the Pie in the Sky Dreamy, Dreams Taxes you will be paying for all of the above.

As I said at the beginning of this Op/Ed piece, Aunts and Uncles who drop in and out of our lives with promises of good times, are rarely around after, when they leave the mess for your Conservative parents to put back into perspective for you.

In ending, your Conservative parents raised you one would hope to know that life is not fair, if you want something bad enough, you got to work for it, and work hard.

Life is not all living in your parents basement well into your thirties, with Mommy doing your laundry and providing you three square meals a day, yet many Liberals spoiled by their many past aunts and uncles feel their overwhelmed parents who raised them, owe them a living and a free ride.

Promises made by the Liberals may feel like a Free Payday Loan, but surely you should know the interest will kill you when it comes due.

Life is a fine balancing act, we still need Aunts and Uncles, Just remember it's your parents who threw you the ball, it's up to you to catch it.

How right-leaning leaders outplay the opposition

Updated Sat. Oct. 11 2008 7:12 AM ET

CTV.ca News Staff

While there are major differences between the parallel election campaigns in Canada and the U.S., there are also remarkable similarities.

Chief among them, according to one expert, is the fact the liberal candidates in both cases should be far out in front -- but they're not.

Compas Research President Conrad Winn said Barack Obama and the Democrats have a rapidly growing membership and a superior brand to John McCain and the Republicans, with Hollywood endorsements and a slick, almost pop culture-style marketing campaign that has propelled Obama to virtual rock-star status.

As a result, they should be able to capitalize on Americans' dissatisfaction with U.S. President George Bush and anger over the crumbling economy.

And in Canada, voters have historically seen the Liberals as strong stewards of the economy and defenders of the environment -- better than the Tories at virtually everything except fighting crime, Winn said.

But in the U.S., Obama is fighting to hold onto a slim lead while nervously looking over his shoulder, and in Canada the only question is how far ahead of the Liberals the Conservatives will be when the polls close, Winn said.

"The key reason is that Harper in Canada and McCain in the states are more astute than their opponents," he told CTV's Canada AM.

The conservative leaders have simply outplayed their opposition, Winn said. Key mistakes on the liberal side, in both cases, have also hindered the campaigns of Dion and Obama.

Dion's largest blunder was the decision to run an election campaign largely centred on the Green Shift carbon tax plan, Winn said.

"Politicians in democracies never win over taxes. You can't get people to vote for you by promising a tax, it doesn't matter how you colour it," he said.

And while Canadians care about the environment, few want a government that is focused solely on the issue.

Obama, by contrast, must not have expected to win his party's presidential nomination, or he would have done things differently, Winn said.

Politicians: You never learn anything by talking

Barry Artiste Op/Ed

Recent media coverage whereby Liberal Leader Stephane Dion has been chastised for his inability to be understood in English, versus his native tongue of French has targeted criticism against Conservative Leader Steven Harper by the media.

Plain and simple, Dion's interview in both official languages was a farce, and though Dion wanted a Do Over, Canadians learned volumes from his interview.

Duceppe of the Bloq Quebec for the most part hit the nail on the head when he stated politicians of all parties have difficulty conversing in their non native tongue, so went a little too far by stating the English butcher the French language more so than the English. But then Duceppe can revert back and forth between the English and French with ease, so perhaps it is more easier for him to say, as many Canadians are not as fluent or as conversant as he is when articulating in getting his point across.

As far as I am concerned it matters little whether you are fluently conversant in both languages as the mettle of a man are his actions, intelligence and honesty, language abilities, though important in some aspects do not a "Great Politician Make".

Dion, an academic, seems sincere and intelligent, it would be nice if people and media concentrated on those aspects than his diction.

All Canadians have an accent to some degree, no big deal in the big scheme of things if you ask me.

Dion hit with linguistic double standard: Duceppe

Updated Fri. Oct. 10 2008 6:57 PM ET CTV.ca

News Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe defended Stephane Dion Friday as the Liberals and Tories continued to trade sharpened political attacks over the Grit leader's muddled English-language interview.

On Thursday, CTV Atlantic broadcast an awkward interview in which Dion struggled to understand a question and asked to start over. "I think it's just unacceptable to criticize Mr. Dion's English," Duceppe said, adding that the prolonged political fallout is indicative of a double standard in Canadian politics.

Duceppe said that French-speaking politicians are forced to speak perfect English while Anglophone leaders are allowed to butcher their French. "I think when we compare Mr. Dion's English with the French of other English leaders or ministers . . . I think he's getting better."

McCain defends Obama to booing supporters

McCain defends Obama to booing supporters

Character attacks on Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama have become virulent enough that even his Republican opponent John McCain is suffering from them.

McCain faced a booing crowd Friday for rebuking a man who said he would be "scared... to bring a child up" if Obama was elected president,

"I have to tell you he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States," McCain said.

Rallies for the McCain/Palin campaign became increasingly inflammatory as audience members shout "terrorist," "liar" when Obama is mentioned.

Troopergate Closed Meeting Ends in Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaska lawmakers met behind closed doors Friday to discuss a politically charged ethics report into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of her state public safety commissioner.

The Republican vice presidential nominee has been accused of firing a state commissioner to settle a family dispute. But the report, to be released Friday afternoon, is also expected to touch on whether Palin's husband meddled in state affairs and whether her administration inappropriately accessed employee medical records.

Sensitive to accusations of political bias, lawmakers ordered the report be held under the utmost secrecy. Members of a legislative committee were forced to sign a confidentiality agreement before reading it, and each page contained a special watermark and a unique number to trace it if it was leaked.

The inquiry, approved by a bipartisan vote, began before Republican presidential nominee John McCain named Palin his running mate.

Since then, however, the case has been dogged by accusations of political influence, particularly after the Democrat overseeing the case, Sen. Hollis French, predicted an "October surprise" for the McCain campaign.

As lawmakers filed into a meeting room in downtown Anchorage, they were greeted by Palin supporters wearing red clown noses and carrying balloons, cheering that the circus was in town.

Some Republicans have questioned why the committee has insisted on finishing the investigation Friday, which they said was an arbitrary date meant to damage the McCain-Palin campaign with less than a month to go before Election Day.

Before lawmakers broke for their closed session, Republican state Rep. Peggy Wilson questioned whether the committee was rushing to a conclusion without time to read the estimated 300-page report and 1,000 pages of supporting documents.

"This is a pretty serious thing and I don't feel comfortable even talking about it until I've got it all read," Wilson said. "I don't know if anyone else, maybe they're speed readers, but I spent hours on it yesterday and I didn't have time to read it all."

But the committee chairman, Democratic Sen. Kim Elton, offered no delay.

"I could have spent four days, but I do believe that within the first two to three hours, I had a good understanding of what the investigator's findings were," he said.

The legislative panel's investigation - one of two that are ongoing - focuses on Palin's firing in July of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan. Monegan says Palin and her husband pressured him to fire Mike Wooten, a state trooper involved in a nasty divorce and custody dispute with the governor's sister. When Monegan resisted, he says, he was fired.

Obama Campaign contributed 800 Thousand Dollars to ACORN, Caught!

Obama camp down plays payments to ACORN Through Citizen Services, Inc

Listen to ACORNS News Conference held Oct 7, Politisite asked a question about demographics under Iron Mill News

Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama's campaign distanced itself Thursday from its $800,000 payment linked to the liberal ACORN organization, which is under investigation in several states where it is suspected of filing fraudulent voter registrations.

Federal Election Commission reports show ACORN-affiliated Citizens Services Inc. got $832,598 from the Obama campaign for get-out-the-vote work during the primaries. But those payments stopped in May and the Obama campaign says they should not be an election issue.

Still, the contributions to Citizens Services draw the Obama campaign closer to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, and the growing voter-fraud scandal that this week spread to the battleground state of Ohio.

Obama's Website says he was never involved with ACORN

While Barack Obama's connection with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has not gone entirely unreported, it has not been fully explained. Most media background pieces simply note Obama's involvement in a 1995 lawsuit on behalf of ACORN. Obama's own website, as well as most major media, fail to reveal the full depth and extent of his relationship with the organization.

Attempts to hide evidence of Obama's involvement with ACORN have included wiping the web clean of potentially damaging articles that had appeared, and were previously publicly accessible. Unfortunately, those behind the attempted cover-up failed to realize that in today's day and age, nothing disappears forever. There also exists another layer of the web, the hidden web, which is full of information included in proprietary scholarly databases where these very same "missing" articles can be easily uncovered.

Obama's campaign website states:

Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.

Is that really a FACT, or just another lie? Let's take a look at a quote from a 2004 article - Case Study: Chicago- The Barack Obama Campaign - written by Toni Foulkes, a Chicago ACORN Leader, which was published in the journal Social Policy. Did we mention that Social Policy recently pulled this particular article from their website, while leaving links to all other articles up?

"Obama took the case, known as ACORN vs. Edgar (the name of the Republican governor at the time) and we won. Obama then went on to run a voter registration project with Project VOTE in 1992 that made it possible for Carol Moseley Braun to win the Senate that year. Project VOTE delivered 50,000 newly registered voters in that campaign (ACORN delivered about 5,000 of them).

Not only does Foulkes boast of Obama's ACORN leadership training, but also makes it clear that Obama's post-law school organizing of "Project VOTE" in 1992 was undertaken in direct partnership with ACORN. The tie between Project VOTE and ACORN is also something that Obama and others have attempted to disprove in recent weeks as ACORN has come under fire for allegations of voter registration fraud.

As recently as March 2008, the Los Angeles Times also made reference to Barack Obama's involvement with ACORN:

"At the time, Talbot worked at the social action group ACORN and initially considered Obama a competitor. But she became so impressed with his work that she invited him to help train her staff." (LA Times, March 2, 2008)

All this information was easily pulled up with minimal time investment. It took less than thirty minutes to find, despite attempts by some to bury the truth. If I could find this with little effort, imagine what could be dug up with a serious, in-depth investigation. Scary, isn't it?

Nevertheless, Barack Obama's campaign website continues to lie and deny the truth about his involvement and association with ACORN. No matter how many times you say it, it does not make it true. The facts do not lie, Senator Obama. It's time to come clean and tell the truth, and it's time for the American people to demand it.

Fraudlent Turfing backed By ACORN

August 15, 2008 at 11:55 AM in Acorn, Barack Obama, Campaign Financing, Crime, Current Affairs, Federal Elections Commission, Fund raising, Legal Challenge, Louisiana, Missouri, Obama, Ohio, Voter Fraud, Washington state, corruption

Irrefutable evidence indicates that Obama’s campaign has been doing business with CSI, which appears to have been operating fraudulently in the State of Maryland and Ohio, and ACORN, which has been associated with a laundry list of fraudulent business practices. The full nature of the relationship between ACORN and Citizens Services Inc is not known but this much is clear: both share the same address in
New Orleans and officials with CSI refer folks to ACORN for questions about “political consulting” and “Get-Out-The-Vote” activities. These are questions that mainstream media should examine.

The ACORN effort is part of a massive voter registration drive aimed at the fall presidential election, which is expected to pit Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois against Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Although voter registration and Get Out the Vote drives seem like noble activities, in fact, not all of ACORNs dealings have been legal, and once again ACORN is facing investigation for illegal voter registration:

ACORN Watch: 1 voter, 72 registrations, ciggies and cash

NYPost’s Jeane MacIntosh is doing great work exposing ACORN’s standard operating procedures in Ohio.

The latest:

A man at the center of a voter-registration scandal told The Post yesterday he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times, in apparent violation of Ohio laws.

“Sometimes, they come up and bribe me with a cigarette, or they’ll give me a dollar to sign up,” said Freddie Johnson, 19, who filled out 72 separate voter-registration cards over an 18-month period at the behest of the left-leaning Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

“The ACORN people are everywhere, looking to sign people up. I tell them I am already registered. The girl said, ‘You are?’ I say, ‘Yup,’ and then they say, ‘Can you just sign up again?’ ” he said.

Just doing the thug thizzle that ACORN and Obama know so well.

G.O.P. Facing Tougher Battle for Congress

WASHINGTON — The economic upheaval is threatening to topple Republican Congressional candidates, putting more Senate and House seats within Democratic reach less than a month before the elections, lawmakers and campaign strategists say.

KENTUCKY Senator Mitch McConnell, right, with his Democratic challenger, Bruce Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford has gained ground in some polls, but Republicans believe they will hold on to the seat.  Top campaign officials for both parties, pollsters and independent experts say the intense focus on the economic turmoil and last week’s bailout vote have combined to rapidly expand a Democratic advantage in Congressional contests. Analysts now predict a Democratic surge on a scale that seemed unlikely just weeks ago, with even some Republicans in traditional strongholds fighting for their political careers, and Democratic leaders dreaming of ironclad majorities.

In North Carolina, Senator Elizabeth Dole, a former Republican presidential contender and cabinet member, is teetering. In Kentucky, the opponent of the Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, has drawn even in some polls, though Republicans say they believe he will win.

Democrats say they feel confidently ahead in five Senate races where they hope to pick up Republican seats, and they believe their candidates are running competitively in seven more.

In the House, Democrats say they could capture a dozen of the 26 Republican seats left open by retirements, and challengers are closing in on Republican incumbents in Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, New York and elsewhere.

“The last week has severely damaged Republican candidates,” said Stuart Rothenberg, a nonpartisan analyst who predicts that Democrats could gain as many as six to nine Senate seats and 25 to 30 House seats. “Everything points to warning signals for Republicans.”

If such projections by Mr. Rothenberg and others are realized, it would push Senate Democrats tantalizingly close to the filibuster-proof 60-vote majority that has eluded Senate leaders since the late 1970s. While the environment could change again in the remaining weeks, recent polling suggests a fundamental shift, with Republicans absorbing more of the blame for the economic uncertainty.

Cindy McCain Blasts Obama

BETHLEHEM, PA.) – It’s not just the Republican ticket criticizing Barack Obama – now the candidate’s spouse has some harsh words for their Democratic rival.

“Let me tell you just a little something that I was not so happy about. My son, like so many others, and today like the Palin’s son, have served on the front lines, helping keep peace and helping freedom for other people. I’m a blue star mom, just like Gov. Palin is. I’m proud of my sons, but let me tell you, the day that Sen. Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body,” Cindy McCain said.

“I would suggest that Sen. Obama change shoes with me for just one day, and see what it means, and see what it means to have a loved one serving in the armed forces, and more importantly, serving in harms way. I suggest he take a day and go watch our fine young men and women deploy, get on those busses and leave with a smile and a charge.”

It’s the first time Mrs. McCain has taken such an aggressive stance towards her husband’s rival. She often introduces Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin, and she has spoken about their son’s military service, but she has not delved into actively attacking Sen. Obama.

The McCains have two sons in the military: their oldest son Jack is at the Naval Academy, and their younger son Jimmy is a Marine stationed in Iraq. Palin’s son Track is in the Army and deployed to Iraq on September 11th of this year.

CLEVELAND - Two Ohio voters, including Domino's pizza worker Christopher Barkley , claimed yesterday that they were hounded by the community-activist group ACORN to register to vote several times, even though they made it clear they'd already signed up.

Barkley estimated he'd registered to vote "10 to 15" times after canvassers for ACORN, whose political wing has endorsed Barack Obama, relentlessly pursued him and others.

Claims such as his have sparked election officials to probe ACORN.

"I kept getting approached by folks who asked me to register," Barkley said. "They'd ask me if I was registered. I'd say yes, and they'd ask me to do it [register] again.

"Some of them were getting paid to collect names. That was their sob story, and I bought it," he said.

Barkley is one of at least three people who have been subpoenaed by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections as part of a wider inquiry into possible voter fraud by ACORN. The group seeks to register low-income voters, who skew overwhelmingly Democratic.

"You can tell them you're registered as many times as you want - they do not care," said Lateala Goins, 21, who was subpoenaed.

"They will follow you to the buses, they will follow you home, it does not matter," she told The Post.

She added that she never put down an address on any of the registration forms, just her name.

A third subpoenaed voter, Freddie Johnson, 19, filled out registration cards 72 times over 18 months, officials said.

"It feeds the public perception that there could be [fraud], and that makes the pillars fall down," said local Board of Elections President Jeff Hastings.

Registering under a fake name is illegal. But officials usually catch multiple registrations and toss them.

The major risk of fraud growing out of mass canvassing involves the possibility of ineligible voters filing absentee ballots, and thus avoiding checks at polling places, said Republican National Committee chief counsel Sean Cairncross.

The subpoenas come as Republicans have ramped up criticism of ACORN. Officials in Nevada raided ACORN's Las Vegas office Tuesday, accusing the group of signing people up multiple times - in some cases under phony names, like those of Dallas Cowboys.

ACORN's Cleveland spokesman, Kris Harsh, said his group collected 100,000 voter-registration cards; only about 50 were questionable, he claimed.

As for workers, "We watch them like a hawk," he said.

Story from Sky News

US election officials believe they have uncovered massive attempted voter fraud less than a month before the country goes to the polls to choose its new president. Ballot box

US authorities are desperate to stop voter fraud

Eleven separate investigations have now been launched into a voter registration group called the Association of Community Organisations for Reform – or Acorn.

The authorities believe they may have duplicated voter forms, employed convicts to register people and even stolen the names of the American football team the Dallas Cowboys in order to create fake voters.

The suspicions started when authorities in Las Vegas raided the organisation's offices, removing eight computer hard drives and several boxes of documents.

Acorn called the raid "a stunt that serves no useful purpose other than discredit our work".

They suggested the investigations into them were politically motivated.

But the concerns about dodgy election papers started to spread to other states.

Authorities in Indiana said they had concerns about roughly a thousand voters registered by the group there.

And Fox News reporters in the state of Missouri found 10 registration documents with the same name and signature.

Acorn has registered up to 1.3 million voters across the US so far.

Dallas Cowboys

It's claimed the Dallas Cowboys were signed up without their knowledge

They have offices in 41 states and Washington DC and focus on low income, African American and Latino communities.

They claim to be a politically neutral organisation but many commentators describe them as left wing.

And their workers have been found guilty of voter fraud in the past.

Last year five Acorn employees were sent to prison in Washington State after they went into the Seattle public library and used records to create 1,800 fake registration documents.

Before the raid in Las Vegas, lawyers acting for the state authorities tracked down former Acorn workers.

They found the group had employed 59 convicts from Nevada prisons who were supposed to be supervised and banned from using the phone or the internet.

One former prisoner named Jason Anderson described many of them as "lazy crack-heads who were not interested in working and just wanted the money".

He went on to say they were required to sign up 20 people to vote each day – but couldn't meet the quota – so they started to ask people in the street to fill out several applications.

In a bizarre twist to the tale, the lawyer who uncovered the evidence – Colin Haynes - is a British citizen and a former London policeman who worked as a detective for 11 years.

Voter registration forms

Fears over voter registration

The Nevada Secretary of State’s department confirmed his past, telling Sky News: "Yep he's a Brit, he's one of our best."

In the town of Independence, Missouri, there was more evidence of dodgy election papers.

Fox news correspondent Eric Shawn obtained 10 voter registration papers filled out in the name of one person – Monica Ray.

He said: "She has three birthdays and four social security numbers."

And he warned the investigation would become even more serious, adding: "The voter registration forms here that are suspect, will be going to the FBI by the end of the week."

The concern over possible voter fraud may re-ignite the debate about voters being forced to bring identification to the polls.

Civil liberties groups have claimed in the past that such a rule would disadvantage poor and minority voters.

However, former Missouri Senator John Danforth offered a lighter side to the affair.

He explained that voter fraud had been a problem in his state before – but struggled to keep a straight face when he told how a dog had been signed up to vote in the presidential elections four years ago.

U.S. May Take Ownership Stake in Banks

Treasury Department May Take Ownership Stake in Banks

Having tried without success to unlock frozen credit markets,
the Treasury Department is considering taking ownership
stakes in many United States banks to try to restore
confidence in the financial system, according to government
officials.

Treasury officials say the just-passed $700 billion bailout
bill gives them the authority to inject cash directly into
banks that request it. Such a move would quickly strengthen
banks' balance sheets and, officials hope, persuade them to
resume lending. In return, the law gives the Treasury the
right to take ownership positions in banks, including healthy
ones.
